Saints v Essendon, Marvel Stadium, 4:35pm Saturday 27/7

In what is normally a "who can cheat and get the easy ball first" sort of set up, born from the days of Matty Knights only knowing how to go forward, we have the fast finishing holy shit we're making finals mob in Essendon being core tenant, facing the now in form ladder toppers would be tenant but actual bankroller of stadium Saints in not a Sunday match.

Where we have largely been in matches, narrow loss territory, taking it to big boys and losing v Brissie but beating Swans, the Dons have decided to shit the bed.

Hard victory v Eagles, loss to Cats, win v Pies and losses to both Dees and Crows have them on the precipice as the Hawks, Dogs and Dees swooping to take their finals place.

Will pick 4 be too strong?
Will the Dees look at Carlton and go "oh yeah, we can play footy also"?
These questions and more as we run for days on Saturday.

Difficult game to predict this one.

Essendon are up for copping a lot of criticism if they fall out of the 8 (Deja vu). Surely they come out fighting.

However, our form has looked strong in the last 5 games particularly our contested game, ability to find a leading an option and halve a forward contest resulting being the 1st ranked crumbing side while there has also been some improvements across our forward efficiency.

This is an absolute win/win. Lose the game and you know it’s Welcome to St Kilda Dylan Shiel, he’ll show us what we’re getting

what's old is new and what's new is recycled, but Essington are always late-season chokers.

For anyone contemplating going to training tomorrow.......it's off site.

It's at the Trevor Barker Oval ....Beach Rd Sandringham about 10.30 ish.

There's nothing like the "Sandy Doctor" blowing in from the bay some mornings.

Hotton maybe?

Be nice to see Keeler come in also, possibly give Owens a rest.
Not sure Keeler works hard enough without the ball if you look at the Sandy game he get's pushed off/bumped off the contest to easy at VFL level, bigger stronger backman in AFL.

Kicking 3 goals is a positive no doubt but he has too many lapses through the game needs to keep engaged for longer.
