Haha imagine if we traded up to 2 just to take Tauru anyway.

Looks like we could take first pick tonight going by Twomeys post?

If so, reckon it's Shanahan.
I like him and he can play back too if it doesn’t work forward or we need him back. But I just want a mid or at least a Hybrid 😝 . Could well be Dodson.

Which post?

We traded 32 and 47 for 28 and 58 last night, but those picks got pushed back after the bids for Ashcroft and co and now 28 is 32 and 58 has come in to 51 (after picks in between 32 and 58 got swallowed up by matching bids).

So I mentioned on the draft rumours thread on the D&T board that we offered up our F1 to get Berry, and someone replied with this:

“Heard today from a source I can't name who was in the Saints room ...you were doing the deal, literally on the phone, with GWS(?) to pick up Berry and Port jumped in and took him.

You also had Tauru at 3 on your board, for what it's worth........thought that was interesting”
That's very surprising given we picked him 2nd.

The more I watch of Travaglia, the more I see him as a project player. He's got the toughness, quick decision making, and hand skills to be an in and under mid. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him at all this year and let him do an apprenticeship honing in those midfield skills and craft.
I've given up any hope of us turning half back into a genuine midfielder.

How many players that don't play full time midfield at under 18 level end up turning themselves into quality midfielders at AFL level?

There aren't too many

Well his mentor Will Day has successfully transitioned, so it helps that someone who’s done it is guiding him through the process.

Wonder how many of these are ever true. Quite the outcome if that’s the case, but was TT at 2?

I really like him & think he’s the best key forward in the draft…can also play back!
I’ve got a sneaky feeling Essendon will trade up to nab him
Hell no!

I would be annoyed if we got him in, full stop. At some stage we have to actually understand what our list needs and doesn't need.

I agree that one of the big points regarding mids in the first round was just how far Reid slid back.

I'm hoping that Reid talking up bringing Hok style celebrations to his new club put recruiters off and sent him to the other side of the country.
Have some dignity mate. One team of plonkers is plenty.

PS. No to viking hats Saints fans.
For the same reason.

Apparently someone on the Dogs board said that both Richmond and WB have declined Essendon’s attempts to get in in the next pick or two.

That could be very good news for us, if WB want to keep their two picks and we happen to want to go tall at 32.

It’s just good news to hear Essendon are getting knocked back for trades 😍

Yeah, I'm a big fan of marketing gimmicks personally, but that Viking stuff is a bit too cheesy for me. Last thing we need to do is be lionising an off the cuff remark by celebrated stick figure and draft enthusiast Cal "cuts his own hair" Twomey.

Height is a definite need. 6 out and only 1 in so far this offseason.

Don’t think we need any more “non-elite mids”. We already have plenty of those.

Sure there could be an elite one left on the board, but the odds aren’t good.
