I get the question marks over his kicking (although I don't think it's as bad as some are suggesting), but I'm not worried about Travaglia becoming a mid. He looks every bit a midfielder with his contested work, his ability to get his hands free and his tackling game.
What a spud worse than Erasmus kicks like Dangerfield - delist

Why has Reid fallen off the pace so much?
Didn't Cal rate him as top 5?

Tauru and Reid?

Tauru and Allan?

Allan and Reid?

All good options if the Big 6 are taken
Cal's personal ratings are meaningless and he does try to give all the kids a good pump up at some point through the draft season.
The draftees will go in the order the professionals rate them, and generally players slide because they are not rated so highly in the first place.

Hearing Tauru could be as good as Stephenson and Spencer White combined.

Other boards are just as bad mate.

North thinks everything is going to end up in a haul for them. There kids are all superstars.

Melbourne fans are banking on some bust from 2 years and a random comment from demon land that they are only drafting mids.

Essendon posters were talking about getting our pick 8 .. for get this… less of a haul then they got for pick 9.
Those Essendope fools are still feeling the after effects of 20 years of Dildo-ro as the list manager.

Could someone in here watch this video or if you have already, please let me know what I'm not seeing?

So far I've jotted down;

Urgent but always rushed
Competitive
Extremely sloppy disposal by hand and foot
- Ball drop is awful, handballing a bit better as options are more obvious and he's quick to hit it - still imprecise
Marginally better than average pace but slow to hit top speed
plays half-back, a position we do not need
Strong middle distance runner and solid follow up disposals, good link up
Poor and slow surveyor of options once ball is recieved - just hovers about for a couple of seconds

If this guy turns into a GUN midfielder, I'll eat my hat. He might be okay in there evenetually but thats not what you want from pick 8.

Agree with this

Watching his highlights (other ones as well) most of his kicks are a long boot down the line to a contest .... no precision kicking opening up the field or elite decision making... just get it and kick long

Agree also that his ball drop is awkward as well as his handballing style ... sort of throws himself at it ... and he can't handball with his opposite hand

He is a nice runner and can break lines but what good is that if you just going to indiscriminately kick it long to no one on particular

He is a solid mark and spoils well one on one but has been measured at 187cm and skinny as a baby giraffe .... don't think he has the frame to bulk up

Will probably be an OK wingman or back flanker ...... but not a pure mid

Not keen at all

Said it at the very beginning, fast flanker with messy skills.. early version of our own Dan Mckenzie comes to mind.

are we watching the same footage? In the game v sandy he hit almost every releasing handball, he can bomb it long but that's not the end of the world as a mid, he also hit some nice spot ups in the corridor (first flipping kick). People marking him down because he looks like a baby giraffe when he runs, rather than looking at his actual output. Also he tackles.. he's skinny for sure but would give reid a wedgie if push came to shove

Maybe they need running defenders we don't.

Anyway I asked the Dees board what it would take to get 5&9.

They said no, but by God that board is dead.
We fill a page every 5 mins they get 1 post every 10mins
One thing about St Kilda. There is no shortage of passion and involvement.

We are a pessimistic lot but the hope never fades. It is actually a beautiful thing.

Looks like. Josh Weddle. A dynamic intercepting half back. Nothing here says midfielder.

Yeah I’ve never seen a midfielder in him… I love the way Weddle goes about it but heck we’ve got no margin for error with our development. We have to turn two of Hugo, Windy, Dow & Carroll into premiership quality mids to complement Phillipou, Steele & Macrae in the next two seasons. Ugh.
