What's up with Draper? Why isn't he a lock to Adelaide? Back issues more of a concern than what's out there? Don't really understand this Langford to crows talk, why wouldn't they take Draper?
A few months ago there were rumours from his 'camp' that they weren't happy with the way that Adelaide treated Rachele. See this article:

I watched an interview a couple of days ago from the AFL website where Cal/Riley interviewed him and towards the end, they asked about him staying in Adelaide and he played a straight bat and then they asked what if you have to move interstate and he was a lot more jovial about that prospect of getting out of Adelaide.

So I think it's more a case of Sid Draper being turned off the Adelaide Crows or Adelaide environment, rather than the other way around.

I love that even the messiah of mock drafts still doesn't really know what the hell is happening. Buckle up, lads, draft night is going to be fun.
I love it because it shows how even the draft will be but it scares me that we might not land one of those top 6 mids, feel like Bo Allan will almost be a guaranteed pick over Travaglia if thats the way the draft pans out

It means - we need to be asking genuine questions about taking another HBF when we have an elite kid in NAS and arguably the best in the business in his prime in Sincs.

If we are going to take another, with the long term view in mind. Then why aren’t we doing that with Marshall Sinclair Wilkie and Steele ala GTs opinion.
We all know the NAS situation, we have no idea where or how they’ll use Travaglia. The team no matter what still needs experienced quality players, we’ve seen what happens with north, gws and others when you just have kids. Also you need to if you can trade a year early not a year late to maximise value. Who out of the names mentioned would net us two 1st rounders ? Probably only Romo and we have how many afl standard rucks on our list at present ?.

why no love for Elwood Pickett?
Correct me if I am wrong, but there was no real love for Justin when he first started at the Saints, delisted, then picked at #49, played one game in his first year, then went on to play over 250 games. We don't always allow for the luxury of time to develop players these days. If he is like his dad, it might be a slow burn until he matures.

kept an eye from a distance on the Rays (my local enough team) and he was voted into the leadership group. Came from a long way back to play some very good games of footy.

With this in mind, St.Kilda do have first dibs on him in future years if he does come on after playing a year or two at state league level

Reading between the lines
1. We don't rate Murphy Reid
2. We may not rate Josh Smillie (based on the thought he could slide through to Richmonds next pick)
3. We really do rate Traviglia possibly higher than some of the 6 top end mids (I get that he is going to be a really good player)
4. We are not as keen on Allan as Richmond and Melbourne
5. We do rate Draper (meets the runs all day requirement)
6. We think Tarau is too good to let slide even if he is not list need number 1 he is a level above Allan Lindsay etc.

Seems we are prioritising athleticism specifically running capacity in our draft order

Based on that I think it is either Travaglia & Tarau as predicted or Draper and Traviglia if the Crows go with Langford if the Tigers choose Allan at 6 I still think there is a chance we stick with Travaglia and Tarau and pass on Smillie

The clubs below us in the draft will be death riding us to take a lower rated mid with 7 and/or 8.

We have hand now and could field silly offers for 7 and/or 8 however Cal is trying to push us in to panic stations and make a silly offer with 7 and/or 8 to try and climb up the draft in order to get a good mid and lose our hand.

Who is Cal working for????

Hold the line SOS, they'll come.

Biggest question mark for me is why Carlton wouldn't bid on Ashcroft at 3. You'd think they're in direct competition as top 8 teams, no reason why they wouldn't try and get Brisbane to pay maximum price

Pardon the intrusion, but I can see Carlton not bidding for two reasons:

1. We did a pick exchange early on with Brisbane which would have had some sort of agreement re: not bidding (although that was prior to us obtaining pick 3).

2. We have a number of highly rated father sons (Cody Walker) and academy prospects (Ison, Gresham, Clark) over the next two years, and I think the club will want to play nice when it comes to bidding so as not seek any unnecessary retribution.

What’s your prediction for top 10 C4[2]Yo`DooR ?

Interested to know what everyone’s view of TT and Tarau at 7&8 versus trading the picks for FOS/Smith/Draper at 2?

The ridiculously negative views on TT and the large melts this afternoon suggest many would go the latter rather than take the pair.

FWIIW, I’m in the use pick 7 and split pick 8 camp.
not keen on trading up,we are bitching about travaglia now, weve bitched about fos in the past as well

use 7 split 8 is good,

i would be happy to split both for 11 16 20 21,lets bitch about 4 players, reid lindsay trainor dodson perhaps, got our 2 mids, got our 15 year ruck and fingers crossed on trainor,if we are concerned insert hynes shanahan hannaford armstrong or j.whitlock or any of the several good ones that could/should be on the board for us

If Draper goes to Crows at 4, do we offer 7 and 32 to the Dees for 5?

Dees would still be able to grab Tauru at 7, who they would pick at 5 if Langford was gone.

I wonder how keen Richmond are on Bo Allan? If we could convince them to trade 10 & 11 for 8 & F1? Clubs don’t seem too keen on trading out 1st round picks in this draft for future 1st picks, but we could maybe leverage the upgrade to 8 for Allan to convince them?

That might give us Tauru/mid slider @ 7 and then 2 out of Shanahan, Reid, Lindsay, Armstrong, Travaglia?

Draper/Smillie/Tauru at 7 and then try to leverage our pick 8 with our future 1st to Richmond, or we’ll trade our pick 8 in isolation for 15 & 16 to GWS.

Could be a goer?????

Wow its a scary time - I have gone from being like a kid thinking Santa is great and we are getting our well deserved presents. To yesterday thinking Santa fckn sucks - I hate him! 😂

That said its time to move on and I can get my head around taking Travaglia, but I just dont see Tauru as a top #8 pick. IF we can split that pick and trade out I would jump at it and take a midfielder and another player (list need) later in the first round.

Hopefully no bids come before #32 on the NGA's, but SOS has made some enemies over time. Either way it would be nice to get another pick in the 1st or early 2nd rounds.
