Trade out any players/forwards, that choose to go around the corner for goal when 45m out.
It costs teams games.
That shot should only be taken when within 25m on the boundary. Especially now that players can line up directly & play on taking up some ground while the man on the mark gets told to stay put.

Not worth more than a 4 year contract on this basis & for not much more than 800K.

If an extra year is the sticking point you just do it, key forwards don't grow on trees. The cap has gone up substantially the 800k is more like the old 650k at most.

First and foremost resign Logan don't care if it's overs just do it, on track for a 40 plus goal year and will only get better

As for defenders and what not, sure I'd like one but I'm not big on the key options in the draft at this stage

Can't see a top line defender leaving another club, pretty sure they are all contracted. Could we perhaps target Marchbank from Carlton? He might be an option something like that.
Fuxk paying overs imo

You just know that West Coast is going to throw him an 8-10 year contract at $1M plus per season.
We can't accomodate that for the sake of our list going forward. A high percentage of his goal this season have come from lollipop hand balls over the top in the goal square. That's Josh Jenkins like skill required for that. Once he starts clunking 5 marks a game within goal kicking distance, giving hiom the opportunity to kick 60-70 goals per season, then lets have an adult discussion about more than 4-5 year contracts over $1M.
At this point in time, I'll take the 3 first round draft picks West Coast would give us for him.
We can't just keep getting spooked into signing these 'media hyped' super star players on ridiculous dollars because it will put the club 10 years behind .
He & others just have to want to stay & be part of something special for the next 6-8 years for less than they can get on the open market, otherwise it's unlikely both player & club will have much success.
If it's good for the Cats & Pies, it's good for the club I love.
I'm more than happy to let such players go.
Starting with "Around the Corner from 45m" Wayward!

West Coast won’t trade for him for starters they need their picks and have Oscar Allen up there not worth it. They can use their first on an elite mid. Freo might but Jye Amiss looks special too.

More than happy to go 4-5 years at 800k for Logan

4-5 years at 800 is fair. But if freo offer a million a year. He's losing a million over the term of the deal.

Big ask to drop that

If McDonald gets an offer he can't refuse to go back west then any high draft picks we receive we would need to trade for a like for like replacement. If we end up having to go to the draft then we will have a big hole up front and although there are options within the club they have non or very little first game experience. Or we start playing two rucks and resting them up forward as the third tall , neith Grundy or Ladhams has shown much as a forward.
McDonald is worth throwing a serious contract at (with inbuilt incentives). He might be inconsistent currently but I haven't seen him go backwards. He's still tracking well has great mobility and can take a grab when the ball comes in quick enough. If we did trade him we would have to sell the farm to get a decent replacement.
Hopefully once the midfield starts to get players back and we can get quicker entries into the fifty the forward line will start to click.

I would give Logan 8 or 9 years at 800k
He plays the hardest position on the ground and plays it well.

No doubt Blakey would be on similar and he couldn't play the position

Logan won even finish top 10 in the best and fairest at this rate. Paying a lot on potential there imo

Logan averaging 1.5 a game and 2.3 marks per game in i50. Laat year averaging 0.8 contested marks

For context:

Mckay 3.6 - 26yo
Curnow 3 - 27 yo
Hogan 3 - 29yo
Dixon 2.6 - 33yo
JUH 2.6 - 21yo
M. King 2 - 23yo
Hawkins 1.6 - Geelong old
Amiss 1 - 20yo
Cadman 1 - 20yo
Treacy 1 - 21yo

At 21yo Mckay was averaging 1.6 and Curnow 1.9

I am gonna be advocating for a bit of patience for the young fella.

He also has time to physically fill out.

Absolutely, but no need to sign him for a decade is all 😂

As I said it's the hardest position on the ground

That's a cliche that gets chucked around for a lot of roles on the field 😂. Not saying you are wrong but often said Key defender is, than oh no small forward.

I mean which spots easy
