After we get smashed by Harley Reid’s side I think we need to start bleaching and prepping ourselves for some massive reamings.
We’ll be melanchollically dreaming of those halcyon days of close losses.

They took Will Philips over Logan McDonald. Not a great decision.

That said we should look at Phillips as a cheap inside option. He’s not that bad, he’s just a long way behind the other inside mids that they took. Prefer him to Dow

Trade Steele and Marshall, keep King, keep Battle.

Yuck. We’d be the bottom side for another 4 or 5 years. We can’t catch the bottom out clubs. We have to stay competitive and make the least mistakes possible

It should be a rule that if your club has a FS/Academy nominated player and that they have traded out a earlier pick than when an Academy Player or FS is called by another club, that they are not allowed to match.

The current system that allows these guns to be taken with junk picks just rorts the system and prevents the draft from doing what it is meant to do which was to give lower down teams a drafting advantage to level up the competition.

Every year now there is a large bunch of guns tied to mainly a small number of clubs.

The Dogs have been kissed on their dick with their large number of early draft selections over many years.
Or something outside the box could be the team that developed the Academy kid gets some money added to their salary cap according to where the kid was taken by someone else .
Or their draft pick for next year goes up by 2 for a top 10 pick or by 1 for a top 10-30 taken by someone else .
It’s too lopsided as it is now

On the weekend, you can at least see Dow hunting for the ball to win it.. our other mids Steele included are just so slow at reacting to the ball, just happy for the opposition to get it first, then having multiple players try to tackle the same person before they get the ball to the outside and kill us on the fast break.

After having no ready made mids apart from Steele.. We really need to bit the bullet and stock up 2-3 genuine mids on the cheap, plus draft 2 gun mids with top 2 picks.. Step in the right direction at least. Let’s face it, Clark and Brynes are not going to make it as mids..

They’re all second guessing every move they make. Their heads are full with information, even Sinclair can’t make a decision anymore. Misson even said before the game we’re confused about what to do with ball in hand. Clearly over strategizing.

this, hadnt thought of fiorini but him as well, have a look at rowston and sheldrick as well, rowstons not breaking into that midfield for an eternity, sheldrick a bit harder as he has already showed he can play at top level & im thinking parker is nearing the end at the swans

i would keep hunter if we are going to make a play for LDU

but 2 or 3 of those guys at same age as dow,a high mid draft pick at end of this season, windy wilson etc and fingers crossed one blockbuster free agent mid with the cash next season, bonus if we pick up a good quality mid today or tomorrow whenever it is & although i love the captain,he suddenly becomes expendable for a very good pick,or he puts his feet up a bit with us as part of a purring midfield, with crouch still in there, hunter might get a new lease of life, can only hope

get jones off the books to start with, seb as well, byrnes if your on money there

=well on way to fixing our midfield issues

Hi stats showed as the 4th or 5th highest possession winner for us (cannot remember which) but from only 66% TOG! So they are obviously still managing his minutes, but on the basis of 21 disposals in 66% TOG he should track as around a 30-disposal mid when they get him up to full tilt.......

He need to get the players back to playing in instinct and using their natural flair. Even if that means ditching the intense defensive structure for a few weeks. We need to try something to bring fun and flair back to how the players play.

We can’t lose Josh Battle to a big club like Collingwood or Melb based on not paying him enough. Interesting that far better clubs than ours are very keen on him.

Unrestricted, so they know we can’t match. Worth more cash when that’s the case. I have a feeling sos might be after the compo again. I hope I’m wrong
