Nope ….. theory caputConsidering I said two rookie upgrades, it does work. I don't think I've seen any club announce any rookie upgrades yet, so despite there not being a second list lodgment date pre-draft this year I assume there's still some kind of date for that to occur, whereas they would have to be sitting on news of a delisting that has already been processed.
Everything about Welsh screams rookie draft - no certain position at AFL level as he's too small to continue as a KPF but only has a KPF skillset, a bad combine, strong rumours about work rate/attitude issues despite being moved inside an AFL club a year early, and Adelaide isn't nearly clever enough to have schemed it all up.
Not quite...So pretty much locked in with Pick 4, Welsh and a rookie upgrade (unless someone grabs either of the delisted two)
I don't think we mind, but I also don't think anyone will bother with them.I wonder if we’ve delisted Schoenberg and Burhess with the faint hope someone might pick them up and free up a list spot?
Either we don’t care or we think they are no risk, otherwise the no brainer would have been Smith.
Considering we’re adding 2 delisted players to the rookie draft ….. i’d say, we’ve left an option other than Welsh, to trade back into this years draft …. if that option doesn’t eventuate, yes we’ll upgrade that IrishmanThe rabbit's theory is still alive, until the number of rookie upgrades is confirmed.
It was always based on a nonsense - the absence of delisted senior players - but the theory itself remains viable, for now at least.
Gees I would have thought a club like Richmond might have been interested. They are basically playing a bunch of kids each week.I don't think we mind, but I also don't think anyone will bother with them.
No. We need to commit to the rookie upgrades before the ND.Considering we’re adding 2 delisted players to the rookie draft ….. i’d say, we’ve left an option other than Welsh, to trade back into this years draft …. if that option doesn’t eventuate, yes we’ll upgrade that Irishman
I am not 100% certain on this...Another Q for Vader - are we actually obliged to pick Welsh if no-one else bids now that we have 'nominated' him as F/S, or does that nomination just give us the right to match a bid?
No mention of rookie upgrade?
Nah... clubs would still do it if they had 60 players on the list.Surely the AFL knows they need to increase list spots when 16 players across the AFL are being delisted to move to the rookie list
The upgrade takes place AFTER the ND, but we need to commit to it (i.e. lodging the paperwork) before the ND.Matches with my recollection that we announced Keays upgrade a few years back, after the National draft
Now the paperwork might be lodged already, but we might do the same with Keane
No, it doesn't create any additional vacancies.Does this now leave a spot to trade up for Dodson !?
If that’s case
Wow .. get it done Reid
They might.Gees I would have thought a club like Richmond might have been interested. They are basically playing a bunch of kids each week.
This spreadsheet only has one rookie spot and two to be re-rookied. It misses that Keane will be moving into a senior spot so that two rookie spots open up, thus giving us only 2 senior spots.
Can we back out of the commitment? Otherwise, should we upgrade both Borlase and Keane, we'd be guaranteeing to lose Welsh if he doesn't slip to the rookie draft. The upgrade takes place AFTER the ND, but we need to commit to it (i.e. lodging the paperwork) before the ND.
