At the very least what do we need to be a genuine contender.

2 - A grade midfielders
A ruckman
Another quality tall defender.
A defensive small forward (playing in the dreadful Murphy's position)

Hopefully we fill a few of the above this year or this will drag on for another decade of nothingness.
agree with most except another KPD - we already have one of the best young developing in the league in Murray, very solid Butts and Keane with a high ceiling. Borlase as back up. And Worrell at 195cm is an excellent third tall that can also play on the non-monster KPF like tearing JUH a new one last week

2 elite mids - yep. Should be half solved in a few mths time with pick 4

Ruckman - low value position overall but agree we need to bring in either a replacement and/or heavily developed youngster (been in system 3-4 years)

defensive forward - ANB to take over from Murph

2024:
Smith - retire
Burgess - delist
Himmelberg - FA*
Bond - extend
Borlase - One year extension, keep for depth
Gollant - delist if no takers
McHenry - delist
Parnell - delist
Sloane - already retired
Walker - One year
Berry - trade
Hamill - delist

Himmelberg will depend on Luko IMO. Luko's best position would be a HF or wingman but is a better forward option than Berg, Burgess and Gollant.

2025:
Fogarty - extend
Schoenberg - delist (can't see any takers)
Gallagher - likely delist
Strachan - delist
Murphy - should be delist, but probably won't be
Nankervis - extend
Keane - trade this year
Crouch - will depend on performance
N. Murray - extend
ROB - trade/keep (will depend on if we bring in an established ruckman in the next two trade periods. A project ruckman has to be one of our draft picks this year)
T. Murray - extend. Still raw and worth persisting with.
Milera - trade
Taylor - extend

Hamill and Borlase I’d keep for depth. ROB only because we’ve left ourselves no alternatives. Mrouch is still afl standard. That’s it.

It would be the 8th season for Hamill in 2026. That's more than enough time. Same for Borlase (6th season). Can't be carrying depth that long.

Crouch I highly doubt will be any good as a 31 year old

You wouldn’t believe it but, they’ve got these little tracker things on their back, in and amongst a general idea how someone is performing aerobically on the field. Curtin was struggling to get his hands on the ball early. Some morons on this board clearly hoping he turns Patrick Cripps by R1 next year are going to be sorely disappointed.

Just remember, a lot of fragile types on this board will…

Curtin not playing in SANFL - Blame Nicks!
Curtin playing in SANFL, but playing developing role as KPD - Blame Nicks!
Curtin playing SANFL but playing as HB - Blame Nicks!
Curtin playing in Midfield at SANFL - Blame Nicks! He shouldn’t have been playing anywhere else!!!

Literally repeat ad nauseum for the seniors, no matter what it’s Niiiiiiiicccccks! Like a child repeatedly throwing the toys out of the pram. Grow up.

I am fully convinced that the Crows board is now a complexly toxic, negative & conservative echo chamber that I don’t see an end to unless there’s considerable change in some way in terms of who’s running the place

The ability for some people to be able to continuously post circular, mindless, and repetitive arguments on this board, without repercussions, is unlikely anything else on any other club forums, let alone creating their own threads, changing thread titles, without any interjection or oversight.

The Crows thread is dead.

I agree he’s done such a great job to get us to 15th🥳

Trying to be rational about this as possible - I know you can’t blame absolutely everything on him, there’s only so much a coach can do to improve a player’s individual performance

That said, there’s been clear errors in our ball movement and our choice of midfield mix at various points this year, our selection policy (often preferring has-beens and very average role players who have clearly hit their ceiling over those who are younger and could do with senior game time), and his lack of going to a unique plan B mid-game when something isn’t working, are all pretty clear flaws that ultimately come down to him, and how he’s addressing the players

The results this year, going pretty notably backwards, is the cherry on top of this disgusting cake Nicks has made

I think its cute some people on this board are still defending Nicks..its like the last 5 years never happened :rainbow:

To be fair, this is probably the first year where he’s truly shown he’s not up to it

Maybe a bit in 2022, as well, after we beat WC/North both twice and improved by just one win

Still shouldn’t have gotten that contract extension

We need to make wholesale changes.

Coaching changes have to happen too. Literally every coach could go.

Ricciuto needs to go too. His attitude isn’t a winning one. Too compromised.
Pedlar will be ok

I think Olsen is ok but I agree Roo is toxic

lol, Curtin was flogged sitting on the bench barring 4 mins against Geelong.

Yes blame Nicks for mismanaging Curtins development, agree with you there.

As for toxic posting, remember when you carried on like a flog about Murphy’s selection and you justified it by saying he’d be out as soon as Rankine was back, then you disappeared from the changes threads when it didn’t happen. That was weak as piss Mullett.

Now we get it you don’t like the board and the Mods, ever thought of leaving this place? You won’t be missed so no one is keeping you here.

Let’s be realistic, ROB isn’t getting traded, we aren’t getting another ruckman that can become a number one. We lost to the tigers because ROB didn’t play and Strawny was woeful. Butts and Laird are going either though I think we should trade one of Butts or Keane because one will be excess, think Butts is much better one on one and Worrell is much better interceptor then Keane.
Himmelberg is average but much better then Gollant and Burgess, we will keep one of them, I wouldn’t care which one
The rest I agree with though there isn’t much value there

Anyone for Oliver? Probably a massive gamble feel like our midfield is going nowhere currently.
Pick 4, Curtin, Soligo, Taylor probably going to be good in time but that's realistically at least 4 years away.

Nope, he’s slower than a wet blanket and then there are his issues off field. Think he’s done and will not get back to what he was.

I specifically checked the “time on ground” stats at half time last night because it was apparent that Curtin had been on the bench for an extraordinary amount of the first half.

Half time:
Curtin: 49% TOG
Next lowest: Wines at 60%

How on earth does someone who has not required a concussion test, isn’t playing in a hugely demanding “two way” role, and didn’t leave the ground via the blood rule or to have a fitness test end up spending MORE THAN HALF OF THE FIRST HALF on the bench?

It’s ludicrous.

Midfielders taken in the first four picks are rarely duds, I would have thought.

After review I tend to agree with you but it really is more like 70% chance of drafting a very good mid.

2016 - Setterfield
2017 - Paddy Dow
2019 - Dylan Stephens
2020 - Will Phillips, Braeden Campbell
2022 - Tsatas
