Thought same watching tonight

If he can become a 1 touch player he will become a good player but I don’t think he will become one so will always just be a tease like he has been this year

Also think people may be disappointed with the trade return though. Cant see us getting a 2nd rounder. Maybe a future 2nd or early 3rd but to me he feels like a genuine 3rd round value
Im not disappointed with that trade return. He’s horrendous and literally delisting him and using the last pick of the entire draft improves our list because at least pick 68 has a chance of not being shit.

Let’s ignore the fumbles. This is a midfielder who literally does not get 25 possessions. Ever. He’s also slow, and a terrible kick.

Take away his tackling and he’s not even good enough for the SANFL.

We need to make wholesale changes.

Trade table chips
Jones
Berry
Butts
Murphy
Pedlar
Cook
Hamill
Milera
Schoenberg
O’Brien
Strachan
McHenry
Laird
Borlase
Gollant

Gone
Sloane - retired
Himmelberg (FA)
Smith - delist
Burgess - delist
Parnell - delist

Coaching changes have to happen too. Literally every coach could go.

Ricciuto needs to go too. His attitude isn’t a winning one. Too compromised.

Most people discussing him leaving though seem to talk 2nd round pick trade scenarios, so plenty will be

Tonight sold it for me though, I’d been a bit on the fence thinking he has something that could continue to develop but not being unhappy if we lost him and I’m to bet against it, now I’m like you and convinced he will be better to cash in on and won’t regret it at all

A very long list of deadweight. All bar Butts I'd pack bags for tomorrow, thats 17 players.

In the next two years, we will or should have to replace:

Smith (retired)
Walker (retired)
Himmelberg (free agent)
Berry (trade)
Gollant (trade/delist)
ROB (trade)
Murphy (trade/delist)
Parnell (delisted)
McHenry (delisted)
Strachan (delisted)
Burgess (delisted)
Hamill (free agent)

That’s 12 players over two seasons and still leaves the likes of Schoenberg, Laird, Crouch, Borlase on the list.

Anyone who thinks our rebuild is over is absolutely kidding themselves.

I think with the right in’s and out’s (players and coaches) over the next two off-seasons, we can come out of it well

But a lot of decision-making and recruitment has to go right

He had a mare but when the conversation is specifically about comparing him to Burgess it’s a nil-nil. Gollant at least remains younger.
Yeah, which means neither should be on the list next year. Need to keep EH as depth

If EH goes of his own accord, and Footywire is right, you only delist Burgess. But if Burgess is contracted for another year (like I suspect he is), Gollant has to go - and we shouldn’t be upset if he does

We are in trouble aren’t we.

Unless something miraculous happens in trade week … it’s middle of the table or bust for the next 2 years.

No matter how much we all want to dump half the squad and replace them with talent - it ain’t happening.

We have some good prospects coming through BUT we aren’t adding anything to our midfield that points towards that quantum leap.

Watch next week’s selection - a game that does not matter - expect the expected.

The club is stuffed in the short term. (We all know the long term story - 1998 was a loooong time ago)

No way we can get rid of so much dead wood and replace them with anything that makes a meaningful difference under the fly-whisperers reign.

Break into Finals by 2026? Maybe a chance for a prelim by 2028? Everyone onboard and excited?

I haven’t seen a player look much more out of their depth at AFL level than Gollant did last night. On top of that, when the game was there to be won in the last he went chasing kicks and goals for himself instead of doing the team thing. Delist.

Combine that with the utterly bizarre benching of Curtin for 40~ mins last night right when he was starting to get into the game, and we were effectively 2 men down.

That was almost Curtly Hampton/Luke Jericho levels of bad by Gollant last night.

The Curtin treatment was baffling, feel like we saw a lot of good moments from Curtin but Nicks just snuffed out every opportunity he had to get into the game.

Club needs to come out and tell us if this is a load management issue, if not, Nicks is basically packing his bags for Perth at the moment.

When considering possible moves just remember that we will have the same crew who ignored Ned Moyle, despite a ruck being a clear need, for a jocky sized defender with an average kick.
Then tried to recruit Moyle in what would have been an expensive trade.

Forget any smart moves. We simply aren’t good enough.

Wasn't it said that list management and recruiting would be looked at, and have a shake-up at the end of the year?

I might just be too optimistic, but I think we 'mutually part ways' with Hamish at the end of the year (maybe after this draft)

Only 20 players gone. I thought you said wholesale changes.

Something I don't understand with the AFL trying to be equal with the salary cap is how clubs have to pay almost all of the salary cap even when they are down the bottom. There should be more allowances for teams under a certain amount of wins being able to have additional list spaces. Once they are contending you take it away. They don't have to use it but should be an option.. this season we could do with drafting 3 or 4 players plus bringing players in but don't have the list space and have players like Shoenberg and Smith who probably won't get new contracts when their current ones expire (obviously we could just pay them out too but in Smith's case it would be pretty costly I assume)
