I blame my tired eyes.

Nobody knows how long Burgess is contracted for because it has never been publicly announced by the club. 1 year and 2 years on completing his trade last year are equally valid guesses, and there's not enough interest in him from the media to even speculate and ask the club the question.

Can we please hurry up and announce delisting's. We need to move the deadwood on and start getting serious.
McHenry, Gollant and Burgess delisted.

Schoenberg, Smith and Strachan to the rookie list (Keane, Hamill and Parnell departing) is where I think we'll go after the Berry re-signing.

Means we can bring in ANB, Cumming, Luko, Rosas and three draftees (4, Welsh and one other, hopefully a project ruck).

Trading Keane should not open up a list spot as we’d have to then recruit another key defender. Cannot go into next year with Murray, Butts, and Borlase as our only key defenders.

Well the club would see Worrell and Curtin as options

Need to leave a rookie spot for Turray

Sloane also delisted & T.Murray is taking one of those rookie spots.

So with Berry staying Keane looks definitely gaaaawwwwnnnn, even if there was a slight chance he wanted to stay feel the club now has him in the ‘too hard basket’ and we all know Nicks and the club in general don’t favour that ‘too hard basket’.

So that leaves Sloane, McHenry, Gollant, Burgess, Parnell & Hamill all cut and Keane traded. Then 2/3 of Bond, Smith, Strachan & Schoenberg being candidates to be delisted & rookied and Himmelberg & Borlase maybe fighting it out for the last spot.

Never underestimate Justin Reid’s ability to ridiculously over complicate his job…

So with Borlase burgling a 2 year rookie deal, club would most likely have to delist Himmelberg now if they need an extra spot.

I know we’ve all hated Curtin being played as a defender but would it be the worst move if Worrell played in keanes role and Curtin in Worrell?

Curtin would become more an intercepting and rebounding role (3rd or 4th tall depending on if butts Is included), not a tight checking defender so it could actually still play to his strengths

Maybe Berg leaves too then, and one of the three aforementioned S players stays on the senior list.

That would leave us a bit thin in the KPF department, but I guess with Luko it might be more manageable (I'd play him up the ground and can play forward when he needs to fill a void).

Either that or we don't bring in one of our targets.

Well seeing Himmelburg plays 1 good game out of 3, and generally plays 3 times a year it’s not a huge loss.

It’d give us the same amount of KPF depth as we had to start the year (Luko/Turray/Welsh replace Burgess/EH/Gollant), we’d just be getting a lot younger

Luko and Rosas still seem to be up in the air too, so there’s that

you can’t just move a contracted player to the rookie list, can you? Don’t you need to delist them first which would require breaking the contract and paying it out?
We've done it before with McPherson and Hamill.

I assume that they nominate for the rookie draft with their current contract demands in place (think you can do this)

So if someone else picks then there’s no payout cos they are getting their owed wage and it’s also honored if they stay

Awful decision by both parties.

I feel like Berry would have a much better opportunity at a club like Collingwood and in regards to us, he’s a player that hasn’t progressed.

Is a hard decision because if he can stop fumbling and grabbing it first time, he could become a good player. Big if though, he has shown a bit and just needs to tidy a few things up. If he doesn’t stop fumbling, then he will be a waste of time and someone that will play plenty of sanfl

I doubt anyone is offering him two years but if they are he should take it. It would be best for him to experience another club.

I don't know if he wants to work in football post playing but if he does he will have to move interstate anyway or commute like Hart and Montgomery have. No way Port take him and we can't really offer him a role until he gets some experience.

If he doesn't want to move the family then he takes what he is offered. That's just part of the work life balance decisions people make all the time.
Forward line coach at North for a few years would be a great landing spot if Tex has coaching in mind. Clarkson as coaching mentor is good and a forward line desperate for some expert leadership.

Dees are likely to be very busy in trade period, with bigger trades to arrange... so they hopefully want to get ANB done quickly.

Suns on the other hand are keeping up a pretence that the $1m pa Lukosius is a required player, when the reality is he is a cap problem... so we need to hold out for a good deal or let them keep him & cause them future cap issues with re-signings.
Is Luko not the first puzzle piece to unlock their other plans?
