Yeah I am deeply concerned that the investment we've made in Parfitt is a failure venture
I think the direction of the game has gone past him. He is a very low penetrating player who lacks impact or power.

The game is more about lower possession and greater impact with your disposal.

Win much contested footy?? 20+ touches sorta outing if you had to eyeball??

Clark was busy, but definitely not 20+, somewhere in the 10-15 range. Like others have said, disposal was very ordinary. One of his kicks went to a Blues player who wasn’t within 20m of a Cats player. But it’s practice match #1 so he’ll improve.

That kick was weird. I'm happy to put his ordinary disposal down to nerves and not playing a competitive match for 9-10 months.
If he's not playing in rd 1, IMO he'll get a shot at it in the first month.

I reckon they'll back the oldheads (Stanley, Tuohy to play, Cuthrie to miss) heading into rd 1 and barring anymore injuries, there's probably 2 spots up for grabs for rd 1.
The pool for those 2 spots comes from Clark, Mullin, Neale, Mannagh, Dempsey, COS and Knevitt.
On the Carlton match sim, you'd think Clark, Dempsey, Neale & Mannagh have the early running.

Watching Knevitt, I am not sure if he will make it. Would love to be proved wrong, but seems very timid, and doesn't like the hard ball, which is what we need.

When during the match was the bad kick from Clark?

I remember one terrible handball and dropping the ball and it going out of bounds on the wing. But I must've completely missed the terrible kick to nobody.

I thought that the first couple of games as well. Looked very timid/soft but I reckon the more games he’s played I’ve changed my tune.
It's just continuity I'd say.

Felt like last year when he got a couple games under his belt he started to feel at home.

You see it a lot with young players. When they're bought in, and they know they're the first ones out, it's pretty hard to be your best self when you're still trying to figure out the game.

Knevitt had a Barry Crocker on Thursday.

He is gonna need to show much more against Essendon to be considered B22 imo.

I don’t even know if he will get a run in that game either.

Curnow looked average too and he is the best forward in the competition lol

Rust, hot, strange rules starting with boundary throw ins

Bring on the real stuff

Curnow is a very very good player at CHF except when he plays on Steven May of Melb - who has beaten Curnow on about 3 occasions - absolutely pointless , including that final last year

Going way way back to the mid 60s , Darrel Baldock was a champion CHF for StKilda and captained their only Flag winning team - and i assume has been given legend status by the AFL

And at that time there was only 0ne CHB who could handle him , a bit of an unsung player , and that was Geoff Prior of Essendon , and everytime they played on each other Prior beat him , exactly like Steven May has done so far when he plays on Charlie Curnow , and in that final last year you could see how frustrated Curnow was

Tbh don’t really care about stuff like that. It’s easy stuff to correct. The issue is when you have a player with poor accuracy and high loopy kicks that is the worry.

Clark made the right decisions just didn't execute. You can forgive execution error on a correct decision.

I laughed when Clark handballed to Duncan and missed him by two meters.

Clark was expecting Duncan to run onto the handball out of the backline but didn’t factor in Duncan’s lack of …. speed

7m 35s into the 2nd quarter. No pressure on Clark at all, laced out McGovern all on his own with no one near him.

Rose coloured glasses there. It was certainly a bit of both. But the encouraging thing is he got his hands on the ball. Everyone’s rusty this time of year, he played with confidence that I didn’t see much of last year in his VFL games. It might be the Rahilly factor Dempsey was taking about.

Thanks! Somehow first time watching it I thought that was Atkins.

Not sure what happened with that kick. Did the player in front (Duncan?) lead up when Clark expected him to run on? Cause it looked like he struck it fine but as you say it was nowhere near a Geelong player.
