I would start Cincotta on Houston and only move him to a mid if they start tearing the game apart. Similarly I would like to see Cottrell play a role on Farrell who should be back this week. I tried to fit Binns in, but we simply need the bigger bodies in this game. Kennedy gets a 'rest' in the sub role after a tough couple of weeks. EDIT: forgot about Martin. Cottrell can have a run in the VFL even though he was better against North.

Out - TDK, Durdin, Cuners + 1 more (Carroll would be stiff. Thought he was good)
In - Pitto, Gov, Kemp, Boyd

If Acres is 50/50 and needs a rest then wouldn't be against brining Binns in. 47 possession game.

With a few returning to the backline, Cerra and Kennedy back into the middle. We could push Walsh out to one wing. Rest Acres. And let Ollie and Binns share duties on the other wing.

There's actually a bit of significance to this one...

In 2022 we were 12-6 with a percentage of 115.5% after round 19...

2 years later and we now sit 12-6 with a percentage of 114.5% after round 19....

Now of course, we all remember how we ended up 2022 losing the last 4 games, but now let's see how we handle this... we're a more mature side with significant finals experience behind us after making it to last year's prelim.

Can't keep relying on other teams to do us favours like they have the last couple rounds. We'll be fielding a pretty strong side this week...

Defensively, we've been a mess, Port will punish us if we have lapses where our pressure rating drops to below standard.

Expecting to see a more clinical approach to these last rounds of the season, we've had a shaky few weeks, hopefully the cobwebs are cleared and we're focused on the task at hand. Port turn to shit when the pressure is turned on and that's what we're going to have to do.

Would get Martin back in as a priority.

If he breaks, he breaks... hopefully he won't.

Port will have Junior and Rozee fit and playing well.

As (many) others have said:

1. Walsh to a wing - let's look after him a bit and use his running ability to best advantage.
2. Cerra back in the guts (and HFF). Swaps with E. Hollands (who needs to rediscover some form).
3. Kemp and Guv back in.
4. Cinc as a stopper.
5. Boyd/Cowan on Junior - is that feasible?
6. Great forward six mix of CC, Big H, Martin, Motlop, Owies and Hollands/Cerra/Cripps.
7. If Acres is out, Binns in. Frankly, on form, Binns should be in for O. Hollands in any event.
8. Kennedy mostly in the guts - to counter Boak, Wines.

Would love to see Cuners get a full game.

Carroll was ok, but hardly deserving of a spot ahead of Kennedy or Hewett.

Watched H2 North game again last night, Kennedy was good down back, a cool head, but he's wasted there.... smart footballer.

I'd put O. Hollands as sub, play Cuners.

Thought Cotters started to show form on the weekend, hope that continues....

tactically we played a different brand on the previous occasion. we tagged. was stopped their run through the middle, we even had players with their backs behind the ball...Im wondering if Voss will do the same this?

Voss knows the Port M.O. and tactics inside out....

Must be a huge advantage for us...

They’ll be a lot better forward of centre compared to last time with Rioli and Rozee.

Georgiadis was their best forward but Weitering will prob take the bigger body in Dixon and Gov to take Georgiadis.

I feel like hinkley will be playing a more aggressive and attacking game and try to put scoreboard pressure rather than clog the game

We did have to play 3 of the top 4-5 teams in the last month in 2022

End of Rnd 19 in 2022 we were 7th.

Voss 3 - Hinkley 0, so far.

Plus you've won the last 2 by 8 goals and 6 goals.

Our game plan breaks down completely under pressure. You guys get going, turn up the pressure and get a bit of crowd atmosphere cranking and you'll blow us away as you have the last couple times.

We are definitely in a lean patch at the moment, might be closer than people are expecting

That's because other teams won more games compared to this year, which has been a lot more even season. Just focusing on us, our W/L ratio is the same at this point.

Fixture and ladder aside, we still should be more mature to handle the remaining games compared to a couple years ago.

The first point made is true and irrelevant because it is relative performance that counts not absolute.

The second point made I hope is true.

We have had the wood on them, beaten them convincingly the last two times. They aren't one of those sides who are overly quick and use pace to carry the ball and apply pressure and generally those are the sort of sides we can consistently beat.

In saying that we really need to find some form. Our stoppage, contested work and pressure has been poor for the last month of footy. Our midfield's performance has been weak and that needs to improve. We have lacked some rebound run from defence. Take Saad out, there have been no big possession getters hurting the opposition at half back for us. Our forward line has been inconsistent, which is mainly due to playing underdone low level forwards and our ball movement.

Short break but the side we will field should be pretty decent so there aren't really any excuses here. DeKoning is really only going to be the big out unless Acres misses. Our ins should be pretty good and we should have a better side in than the one that played North.

Good preparation and sensible training during the week will overcome the short break.

Will we win? We will need to be better than last week. We should be better than last week. We were served up a hard and challenging game from North and maybe that is a good thing.

If we can't beat Port at Melbourne then we are probably only making up the numbers in the finals series, these are the games we need to win to show signs that we are a serious contender.

Tom is a massive loss, almost like losing two player's in one. His second efforts and roving work has been phenomenal recently. Go so far as to say, that he is now in our most valuable five players.

Blakers is a tough hombre, yet he is only human and is pretty banged up. Think we can win this without him, if he does not pass his test. As others have said, just play Walsh on his wing. Cerra, perhaps.

Martin is an elite talent and we all want him back. But, just watching him in the magoos. Does not seem quite ready yet, to my eyes.

The inclusion of McGov, Kemp and Boyd into our defence should make a real difference. MC may be thinking about Marchy as well, considering their tall forward line.

Jack Carroll, I would like to see get another full game. Could end up being sub though.

Voss may be keen to see Fanta return against his old team. I don't think we really need him now that Motts is back and Martin might play. Another possibility for sub I guess.

Guv, and to a lesser extent, Kemp in the back line change our dynamic completely.

This game will be another close one, luckily for us its played at Marvel. Ports forward line will be a concern far more dangerous this time around. Our midfiled work has to improve to elevate pressure on backline.
Have the fingers crossed, no further injuries as the next few games aganist Pies and hawks will be bruising affairs.

We play best when we move the ball with momentum and purpose. Yes there’s a time for the possession game, but we’ve gone to that way too often in our recent run of poor form. Unleash the shackles and let the boys fling the sherrin around.
It's a taxing game style to play though, requiring more run and more cohesion.

Not surprised we're not producing that style like we were with all the banged up players we have right now.

We looked fit and strong in our 5 game winning streak and we were basically injury free in that period.

Ever since q1 of the GWS game though we've had lots of players get knocks, impacting their ability in game. In 3 weeks weve had injuries to TDK, Williams, Gov, Boyd and Durdin but many more impacted like Weitering, Acres and Walsh...Cerra seems to be struggling physically too.

Our high pressure and hard running has notably been absent, I think injuries have played a big part in that.

People might disagree with my rationale here but if there are 2 players (certainly 1 - Cuningham) who need AFL match fitness leading into the finals, it's Carroll and Cuningham

With current injuries and soreness etc. that "squad mentality" is only enhanced and supported by having as many players who are currently available (Cuningham for a change) given exposure, opportunity, experience and match fitness at AFL level

For mine, Cuningham should be a starting 22 on Friday night

OUT: TDK Durdin Acres (so important, manage him!!!) Cowan (managed)
IN: Pitto, Gov, Boyd Kemp

Depending on match ups and balance, I'm not averse to having Boyd as sub (probably a little wake up call prior to finals)

How the hell do u know those figures. Are you really Stan the Statistician from Stradbroke Island ;)

Agree that Cotters was better on Sunday but would have preferred he found touch in the magoos.

I don't think it's injuries with regards to our poor stoppage setups and letting teams pile on 6-7 goals in a row.
