I imagine if we had Pick 5 in the draft you'd be wanting us to pick a Western Australian KPF.

I mean Buddy was Pick 5 and from WA, surely that is a winning formula that can just be applied across the board.
That's the best you've got ??

It’s what the journo tweeted
How does the Journo know the role / title B4 the Crows have made an announcement

Do you believe McClures announcement on Clarry .....you can always trust McClure 🤮

Oh totally, how could they possibly fit in the likes of Jed Bews, Jack Henry, Zach Guthrie, Tom Atkins, Oisin Mullin, Jake Kolodjashnij, Shaun mannagh, Lawson Humphries, Shannon Neale, plus an ancient Mitch Duncan, and Rhys Stanley.
Millionaire mile right there.
Hey..you only need to make it seem fair I guess. Its like they are the mafia of the AFL

But he isn’t announced as anything other than nicks ‘right hand man’ yet

Also what you consider high quality candidates vs what are actually high quality might also differ

‘High profile’ you’re talking about , different than ‘high quality ‘

Only people close to the action know for sure and we will find out with results either way eventually
If he’s our coaching director, do you think he was one of our top targets?

Rowey was even saying today that people he had spoken to said we were struggling to fill the role.

Yes it’s only Rowey but it ties in with his CV and our difficulty in attracting experienced credentialed footy people.

Burton and Kelly have been our last 2 footy ops managers, what does that tell you?

Probably because Mark Ricciuto was on radio this morning saying we're announcing our coaching director this week

I think people are getting Chris Fagan's role wrong or minimizing his experience.

He was Head of Coaching and Development at Hawthorn. So at our club that would be a mixture of a new role, and Marco Bello's role (Head of Development)

Fagan was also the GM of Football Operations at Melbourne before moving to Hawthorn, so he had higher tier experience before moving into the Head of Coaching and Development role.

As far as I'm aware Murray Davis only has assistant coaching experience, so he is being promoted into a new role without an equivalent experience base
That’s a very basic representation of Fagan’s path to Melbourne and his roles there.

Why does someone need to be a senior AFL coach to be a coaching director? Leppitch was a terrible senior coach, why does that make him more qualified to be a coaching director at Collingwood?

Chris Fagan clearly rates him very highly and I’m sure works very closely with him, why is his endorsement for this role not enough for people who had no idea who he was before tonight? Trusting the opinion of the people that work with him isn’t happy clapping.

.
A Director of Coaching role is above a head coach, so you'd think the requirements for experience would be higher and you'd want some sort of high level experience

Is it above it? Or is it a different role than we are guessing it is?

I can’t imagine a role that overpowered the Head Coach’s decisions - how would that work?

I guess we wait and see how it pans out…

The same journo that said Cumming preferred Adelaide?

And I’ve said, if he’s wrong, fine I’m happy with the appointment as assistant.

As coaching director? Nah and let me guess you’re clapping the club again.

So the journo guessed .....no mention of the other potential appt

Where do you think Davis ranked in terms of our targets and be honest, not an ambassador

If they announce a Wright type as well?

We missed Rutten and Dew last year so I doubt he’s our top target

Also doubt Rahilly was when he came

Also doubt the guy we get at pick 4 in draft will be our top target as well

Burton was a disaster appointment and Kelly was a stop gap measure , like a holding pattern

Doesn’t mean every decision the club ever makes is going to be bad , just like it’s not always good

It is good to see some changes happening however , so far the off season is promising

Full stops are your friend.

No that’s not it, but clappers who back every club appointment and show no ability to think for themselves, I call clappers, clapper.

I’d imagine it’s a role which oversees coaching operations, as well as giving advice to Nicks

The head coach would still be the most senior position amongst the coaching staff, I think

Nailed it - need to wait for clubs announcement to be clear on the role appointment.

I’m with you - I’m convinced there are people on this forum that prefer a high profile name from an unsuccessful program, then an unknown name from a successful premiership program.

Let’s not deal with perceptions based on a name, let’s appt based merit and performance.

People need to pause and wait for more info.

Kelly stop gap? He’s been there a few years now.

My point is he clearly wouldn’t have been one of our top targets. He might turn out to be great. But I’m not going to buy posters applauding the appointment when they know he wasn’t a top choice.

He was an assistant coach a Melbourne before he became.the GM in a period where they had a coach sacked

It's not diminishing his experience at all, it's more understanding the path he went on was not too dissimilar to that of Davis.

Neither played AFL, both had some time coaching their own senior sides

So we have Davis- seems like a good addition.

Wright still a shot for the senior gig?

Do we still have Montgomery in the pipeline?

Would be a monumental change to the off-field group if those all came off!!

We have ANB, Cumming and still possibly Peatling as players … and the trade period hasn’t started yet!!

Bit better than last year :)
Only a bit better than last year? I felt as happy as getting a speeding ticket last year when all we got was Chris Burgess. This year is more like it should be.
