Torn between not wanting Sam Draper and, on the other hand, shrugging my shoulders because ruck is a low-value position and he wouldn't cost any draft capital.

Makes me laugh about the carry on about sloane have a coaching job of some sort .I guess if you were in charge a guy like wc new coach would never of got a job because he was a spud ?

On SM-G996B using BigFooty.com mobile app

It's got nothing to do with his football, you've manufactured that out of thin air. Sloane was a very good footballer for us for a long time. Struggled to deal with a tag and played out his career under injury duress, but all that's irrelevant. He was captain through the worst player culture period of our existence and he knows nothing outside of what he's learned inside the 4 walls of the AFC. We shouldn't recruit anyone with a CV that only includes experience at our club. There's no more to it whatsoever.

Think we have reached the point where these players got games coz of lack alternatives.

We have improved our drafting and trading position since 2020 (Tilthorpe, Rachele, Michalanney and Curtin in the first rounds 2020 - 2023) and as each year progresses we are getting better depth.

Murphy has a contract for 2025 but I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up on the rookie list for 2026.
I'm excited for the potential of whats happening currently

How many we get across the line remains to be seen

But for me the real test of the success of this period is how many games Murphy gets in 2025 .

  • Tom Morris claims the race for Peatling is down to GWS and Adelaide (link)
Tom Morris actually said Peatling was down to GWS, Adelaide or a Victorian club (had a quick listen then), he only ruled out the Eagles.

Fair enough - I thought his title was Football Operations, but it's the more general GM of Football.
“He will be part of Adelaide’s Executive management team and oversee all aspects of the Club’s football operations when he officially starts early in the New Year.”

Jarryd Lyons has retired and returning to live in Adelaide.
SANFL ? would be good type for the kids.

Adelaide Crows prepare to launch bid for former Collingwood list guru Graham Wright

Adelaide is trying to lure highly-touted former Collingwood footy boss Graham Wright to the club after he had a year off. MATT TURNER has the details.

Adelaide is trying to lure Graham Wright to the club in a “godfather” role overseeing its football department.

Wright quit as Collingwood’s football boss in August after having an overseas sabbatical this year.

He was executive manager of football in the Magpies’ flag success last year and served a similar role at Hawthorn from 2018-2020, after being the Hawks’ recruiting and list boss during their hat-trick of premierships from 2012-14.
Adelaide chief executive Tim Silvers worked with Wright at Hawthorn for a decade and met with him recently, hoping to convince him to join the Crows in a full-time position.

The AFL is also understood to have been interested in Wright for a role at league headquarters.

Five years into the rebuild under coach Matthew Nicks, the Crows are seeking a steadying, experienced hand to improve their football department on the back of an eight-win, 15th-placed finish this season.

The Crows have chased ex-Collingwood, Geelong and Richmond football boss Neil Balme in previous years to fill that type of role.

Any talk of pick swaps yet? I have a feeling the first few days of the trade period might see some fairly pro-active pick swaps this year.

Feels like a lot of teams (Crows included) have awkwardly positioned draft picks for their targets.

Trading away a 15year potential star mid for a 4 year max player would be peak Adelaide.

I am praying we hold firm with a future first rounder. But this does actually explain the reasoning behind targeting gold coasts pick 12. We obviously think the mid we want can be a slider. based on the rankings and think we can get both. I have a better idea. Forget Clarry, spend 4 on a cream of the crop talent that will service the club for the next 15 years, trade our future first for pick 12 and get that player too.

This just has one of those 'sliding door moments' smell all over it where like Ken McGregor and Pavlich we will forever be asking WTF.

Hopefully im completely wrong and we have every intention of going all in on Pick 4 in an insanely strong draft year.
4 years? Oliver looks like he is mentally and physically cooked in 2 years and probably by next year.

They havent fixed him up at all, theres been a few incidents.

What theyve done is back him in, which they have done for a number of "loose" players over the years.
recently, yes. But Matty Stokes got a club imposed 8 week ban for cocaine.

They traded Allen Christensen, who had a gambling addiction, to Brisbane.

Anyone else heard the rumour that Oliver and Petracca no longer get along and don't want to play with each other? Dees would rather keep Petracca.
That’s the logical deduction agreed if Oliver is being shopped around. Pets has said get him outta here and club agrees. You don’t just get to meet an oppo club with 6 years on contract otherwise.

I’d be surprised he will be in our best 22.

And I doubt he will be in our leadership group unless someone has a coach’s pick.
