Welsh will absolutely be picked in the draft. He played a full season of SANFL at 17, with mixed success. Didn't looked out of place at the u18 championships. He was rated a top 10 pick at the end of last year.

Biggest knock is that he isn't a key forward. More a 3rd tall type at 191cm.

Welsh biggest challenge will be similar to Fog early in his career.

Need to get the ball in his hands more.

The more touches he has, the more scoreboard impact he has.

I'm the same, with the supposedly strong draft this year, I think we should have delisted someone else or tried to trade someone to give us another pick this year.
The whole trade, list lodgements etc period hasn’t begun yet so being disappointed before it begins, sounds like your sex life 😂

Its got nothing to do with our glass house. Its merely my opinion of their list and they are very top heavy. Im talking their squad overall. There is no doubt that their midfield is elite. The rest fall away very quickly.
Ok - I don't agree. I think their top end is elite, the rest is either good or mostly above serviceable.

My point about glasshouses is that most lists drop-off at the bottom-end pretty quickly, ours falls off a cliff before we even get to the 22nd player. Brodie Smith and Lachlan Murphy are in our leadership group for god's sake. McHenry played 10 games and the other delisted players all got a run in 2024. I notice a lot of Crows supporters are much harder on Paer than on other teams, for obvious reasons.

If you are one of the balanced few, then great :)

I think our acquisitions this off-season change that balance for our squad a lot ... and the pOwEr are not hitting many sweet spots right now so that is worth an early smile at least (even though we all expect that by the end of trade period the media will have the Teal Army up and firing as usual!!)

cant complain about our 3 big ins AND pick 4 AND Welsh but if the draft is so deep it would have been nice to have a couple more picks then in the 40/50's or even rookie draft than what our list dynamics allow

We'll be re-signing deadwood/mediocre experience next year, hopefully on 1 year deals. No way that all of the below go in one offseason.

Tex
Smith
Schoey
Strachan
ROB unless replaced with experienced
Burgess
Murphy
Crouch
Milera

What are the chances of someone being targeted FROM us?

Anyone on this list that maybe someone will have a crack at ...

Contracted until end of 2025
Wayne Milera - doubt it
Luke Nankervis - possible, but we say no
Reilly O'Brien - possible, we say no without a replacement
Darcy Fogarty - will try, but next to no chance
Nick Murray - doubt it
Kieran Strachan - nope
Zac Taylor - possible, but we say no
Harry Schoenberg - doubt it
Lachlan Murphy - nope
Matthew Crouch - nope
Toby Murray (R) - nope
Karl Gallagher (R, Cat B) - nope
Brodie Smith - doubt it
Taylor Walker - possible
Hugh Bond - nope
Chris Burgess - nope

Murphy, Crouch and Milera will all be extended.

Smith, Burgess and Tex are certain retirements, and Schoenberg is likely though he might turn it around after a full preseason. Very unlikely though.

Strachan is pretty certain as well. ROB needs a replacement.

Zac Taylor is the only one I could see some interest in, but it feels really unlikely.

You could say that about every single forward in the league

Disagree

Some other forwards get more involved in other scoring chains, whereas early in his career Fog relied on being at the end of the scoring chain.

Welsh is bit the same. At this stage he’s not involved enough in creating for others, that’s why his possession count can be low.

Only last couple seasons we have seen Fog get more involved in creating goal opportunities for others.
