Thanks for reminding me … hence we need to trade 1-2 out as well as 1-2 main list rookie downgrades …. With the option of a possible forced rookie upgrade.

Jeez, it doesn’t leave any scope for speculative rookie picks that we once did quite well
We don't need to trade any players out - and all indications are that we won't.

Including ANB/Peatling/Cumming we're currently at 37/3. By moving 2 players to the rookie list, and upgrading Keane, we get to 36/4. That leaves us with 2 selections in the ND, with the 3rd mandatory selection being covered by the rookie upgrade.

Moving players to the rookie list involves delisting them (before the ND), then re-drafting them in the RD. Thus, we will be using 2 selections in the RD, but both will be committed to re-drafting the contracted players we previously delisted. We will not have any "live" selections in the RD, unless another club gazumps us by signing one (or both) of the players we delisted. I doubt anyone would be upset or disappointed if that were to happen.

Which would you move out of those two? Would be good to move them both on, but get the feeling we move on Schoenberg considering our tall stock is a bit meh.
We have to move a minimum of 2 players from the senior list to the rookie list, and upgrade 1 rookie.

We can do 3 or 4, if we're changing our list structure from 38+4 to 37+5 or 36+6, but this is a zero-sum game. Moving the extra players does not create any new list vacancies which could be filled via the ND. We've used these list structures in the past, but probably won't be doing so in 2025. The only reason for doing so is to gain a bit of salary cap relief, with part of the rookies' salaries being excluded from the salary cap. I don't believe that we're close enough to the cap to gain any benefit from this.

Do we have to move Keane the main list?
Vader answered this, but lack of list spots and the fact we have to make three ND selections (which can include rookie upgrades), we don't really have a choice.

With the inclusions of ANB, Cumming and Peatling and the delistings, we are 37+3. If we upgrade Keane, that leaves us at 38+2, but we then move two senior players to the rookie list to free up Welsh and our first rounder.

I suspect Smith and Schoenberg/Burgess will be moved. In an ideal world, Smith retires and becomes a leader for the SANFL side, but I'm not holding my breath.

It's looking increasingly unlikely we'll draft a project ruck, which should've been on the list, unless we start developing T. Murray as one.

Feels like we got all our Christmas presents early and opened them a week before Christmas.
You need to think of the trading and drafting periods as one big festive season.

What matters is the outcome as a whole, not just what happens on draft day.

At the end of the festive season we will have 5 new players on our list, 4 of which should be able to make an impact in 2025. That's the big picture, which is what really matters.

In an ideal world, we’d have two more list outs (ie not re-signing Berry and trading a contracted player like Jones), and in their place getting a development ruck + a development fast small forward

But this isn’t an ideal world, sadly

Oh yeah, of course, but I can't see anyone being traded.

Berry should've been, we went way too early on that one.

All indications are that Berry's management went looking for options and couldn't find any takers.

Yes, we would have been better off trading him, but re-signing was still better than delisting.

Especially given Peatling is basically a quite bit better Berry
Yes, but Peatling wasn't a sure thing when the decision was made to re-sign him. Peatling had many suitors, and only made his decision on the eve of the trading period.

I got the impression Collingwood was interested?

If there was no takers, surely we would’ve signed Berry to a 1-year deal? But of course that’s not how Reid rolls when it comes to negotiating contracts

I feel we don't know the value of ANB, He is worth a pick 28 easy for what he will bring to our current list.

We are getting a 29 year old Rory Sloane that will help alot of these kids grow quicker and play better.

Pick 28 to speed track Soligo, Curtin, Rachele, Dowling & Pick 4..

Good trade
Whilst I agree ANB is a good get for our club ,but don't totally agree that helps our kids AFL development progression by him,Peatling and Cumming coming into the team as basically they are taking spots the kids were getting games in .
Especially time in midfield and apart from only hopefully Murphy cannot see a experienced player being dropped as Smith was already out of team.
Not too sure that players like Ryan, Taylor , Pedlar, Edwards are thinking that these players going to help them become better players while they play SANFL.
Adding to this is two of delistings we used to bring the 3 new players into club were KPP , which are not covered by these players and by the stuffing up of resigning Smith etc etc we have no more spaces left to cover.
Not mentioning that we still won't have covered our rucking issues unless a trade can be obtained for one of our fringe players.

Your earlier point about the inactive list is interesting. Maybe theres a long term injury we dont know about which will have someone inactive for 2025 which would create another list spot til all the 2025 delistings occur of which there should be many.
In fact, couldn't smith be moved to inactive list and just play sanfl?

I don't see them as being comparable at all? Peatling is a quick clean explosive type of player ... Berry is a tacking grunt in-and-under type.

Berry and Crouch - very similar. Except ... Crouch has god-hands when it comes to grabbing the footy - Berry has spirit fingers. Both tackle well, Berry better. Berry a better mark. Neither great disposers.

Could be wrong ... maybe after a we see Peatling in our 22 we will get more of an idea where his best characteristics lie?

Peatling’ s speed will see us use him on the outside a little more imo .
I’m looking forward to him and Crouch together.

They're nor really comparable; Peatling is just a better option for the side

Love Mexican food, but not Guzman.

Zambero much better for starters.
As an aside for anyone interested, Guzman and Gomez (GYG) recently floated on the ASX. VERY ambitious growth targets:

  • CEO, a NY guy who is a born salesman, said GYG is this generations McDonalds, expects to equal Maccas store footprint within 20 years (circa 1000 stores nationally). Going to push into brekkie market (brekkie burritos etc).
  • share valn was deemed very “rich” when they first floated but already up another 60%+ in 3-4 mths since listing. Various strategies employed to achieve this.
  • pointed to global “footprint” but 2 of the 3 global markets (Japan and USA - Chicago only) have a total of 8 stores in total…laughingly sub scale. Singapore doing well though
  • CEO initially claimed surnames involved in business name and also recipes were from “childhood friends” he had growing up in the USA. Fact checking dispelled this along with various other claims

I'm not tied in knots, you said we didn't have a spot available, so might as well burn it on ANB. Of course this is stupidity because if Demons refused a lower offer, the spot wouldn't be taken by ANB, so we could use it draft instead. It's you making up incorrect facts to try and make it seem like we must use 25 on ANB.
Didn’t Kelly say 25 (now 27 or whatever) is the key part of the trade?

0% chance this trade doesn’t happen, likely in the next 4 hours

I ****ing DID NOT have Sanders banned.
Ya indeed you did, you got his previous username banned by manipulating a vulnerable mod in your quest to protect trigg and if that hadn't occurred sanders wouldn't be on eggshells now, so YES you did!

It's similar with George, he's wound up because you provoked his previous username about positivity even making threads targeting him to frustrate him.

Now you pretend it was circular and you've seen the light and are a reformed character, couldn't dream it up!

Unfortunately it's more likely he pushes Taylor or Dowling out of the side. Our coaches will want to load up on experience.
You really believe ANB and Murphy will both play round one? (Assuming not injuries to multiple other small forwards like Keays, Rachele etc)?

Happy to bookmark but surely ANB replaces Murphy here
