I think the mullet probably helps him get a few people onto his side - it's the missing goals from 10m out that might turn people against him.
So... his kicking for goal is on par with ROB's?

When kicking for goal, ROB is lucky if the ball lands in the same postcode as the goals - even when kicking from the top of the goal square. I guess it would be keeping with ROB's tradition, if Draper is just as bad.

Not that he has many shots, but ROB isnt THAT bad.

Draper is far worse.

Not necessarily. Draper is a straight replacement for ROB. Then they just need to trade/FA a Graham/Lowden type, as the Strachan replacement. There's no reason to think that they'll draft a development ruckman.

It's also quite likely that they think they already have the development ruckman on the list - Turray.
Graham and Lowden were so bad too though

I think they're happy with ROB, and the plan is always to have a minimum wage backup.

Reid spoke on Sensible Crow about the errors they feel they've made in the past with too many rucks on the list who all need the same development time leading the ruck. Maybe they've over compensated too far in the other direction.

This off season will be interesting. Reid doesn't have a black mark yet but he will if this doesn't get improved for next year
I disagree, Strachan showed this year he is just not up to the lead role ruck if ROB goes down, at AFL level he's tonguing it even before half time and there was no way after this long on the list and so many preseasons to work on his endurance it was ever going to be up to running out a full game at the top level.

When over the last few seasons have we ever had too many rucks on the list and when is the last time we drafted a young developing ruck, Reilly O'Brien (19 Y.O.) a decade ago in the rookie draft? In that time we've had mature-age AFL list cloggers Angus Graham (0 games), Luke Lowden (0 games) Paul Hunter (0 games) and Keiran Strachan (7 games).

Neither Thilthorpe or even recent addition Toby Murray were drafted with a view to being our lead ruck.

Possibly but all indicators suggest we are moving away from this

How does Toby develop if we have McAndrew etc
No way was Toby Murray drafted with a view to being our lead ruck into the future either, he was the obvious replacement tall forward depth for Himmelberg who they knew was departing year's end.

Yep if he's being developed as a ruck it means we're down to just Burgess and Welsh as tall forward depth/backup

Reid has said as much, in the sense that he was mentioned as ruck depth when questioned on the matter after the draft.

Yet he's done very little rucking in the SANFL to this point, I would have thought if that was the plan with Toby Murray he would have been given far more opportunities to do the lead ruck role in the Snaffle. It's quite obvious Strachan isn't the future so plonk him up forward and concentrate on T. Murray doing the lead rucking in the SANFL would seem too obvious if that was the plan?

I recall Draper grabbing the ball from the centre bounce, running to 50m and kicking the goal. Do you see ROB doing that???

I recall seeing him flip-flopping around on the football field like a beached fish....I don't see ROB being stupid enough to be seen doing that especially if he wanted to be a Crow into the future!!!

I think 3/4 is an ok number of Rucks to have on the list, if 2 of them have other strings to develop- either KPF or potentially KPD.

1 AFL main ruck
1 SANFL main ruck
1 SANFL development KPF/ruck
? SANFL development KPD/ruck
