Anastopolous and Charleston both showed enough to suggest they had AFL potential but have been given zero opportunities. Playing in a totally uncompetitive Powa SANFL team all year is like being sent to purgatory for small forwards.

Being stuck behind proven plonkers like McIntee and Narkle must be pretty demoralising.

Talking about Soldo staying at Power and someone asked about his partner saying “well she is bored living over there isn’t she” (or similar). So much for independent AFL commentary when they are openly bagging one of the biggest AFL cities in the country. It just adds to negative perceptions that both Power and us have to continue to fight against.

Triple M rumour this morning was that GWS player suspensions could be as much as 5 games, and was a little cagey when pressed if any of our new players were involved

The guy with the rumour has a pretty strong track record. Can only think of one thing he's got wrong (about Parker being Sydney's sub in the GF)

If Peatling has a suspension hanging over his head, we deserve to know about it.

It’s very interesting and kind of opposite to us this draft , we’ve basically traded out ( other than pick 4 )

Will be interesting to see how it pans out for both clubs , we won’t know for 3-5 years

No doubt not having 3-4 picks in this draft isn’t optimal. That said, we needed experienced older players NOW and we have achieved that. But there is a trade off with our distinct lack of draft picks besides pick 4 and Welsh.

Understandable strategy based on so many years out of finals and Nicks precarious position but ideally we did it last year instead

I would have been happy for a less valuable draft pick and getting him for 4-5 years at say 700k ish but Power seems to have paid way overs - contract length, $$/year AND trade outgoings.

No doubt not having 3-4 picks in this draft isn’t optimal. That said, we needed experienced older players NOW and we have achieved that. But there is a trade off with our distinct lack of draft picks besides pick 4 and Welsh.

It would be very Hamish to load up in next years draft being a he contrarian he is

But yes we had to do those trades for sure and cumming FA they all add something that we need and will make us more consistent

I know people have said it before, but how could Rioli be worth 6 and Houston effectively 13.
Houston is twice the player Rioli is. No wonder the pear faithful are fuming .
Personally feel 13 is about right for an uncontracted Houston . (So they got slight under cos he’s contracted)
Rioli is a second round pick .

Same thing with Geelong only offering Dogs pick 17 for Bailey Smith too. Would have him every day of the week ahead of Rioli.

Yep agreed. They are still missing the gorilla or “Beast” like forward though to crash packs like TT and Dixon (at his best)

Luko, Mitch G, Marshall all similar leading type players. Ditto Finlayson. None of these guys are hard players. Compare them to Fog, TT and Tex. Chalk vs cheese. I wouldn’t be relying on too many contested marks from that lot. Lord is the one they really need to come good but was apparently dud like in he SANFL this year so not looking good for them so think they still have massive holes both in KPD (esp with AA over 30, BZT “brittle” at best and Ratugloea basically barely up to it. And no dominant tall forward.)

Years of pain coming up for them. I truly believe this and haven’t made this call before but they will miss finals in 2025 and then for many years to come after that. Hinkley sacked mid next year and then they will lose Bergman and Butters also (2025 / 2026). Out of flag and even finals contention now permanently for the foreseeable future (next 5 years)
