Reid has done a good job of re-signing key players well before their contracts are up for renewal.

The club is taking no chances. Clearly trying to keep a core group together long term. Murray is a gun player and deserves it. He is a major win for our recruiting team.

To think we butchered the McAsey pick, yet in the same year picked Murray up on the cheap...

Bond, Nankervis and Taylor the key ones left.
The Bond decision is non-urgent. It's only 3 months since they re-signed him to a 12-month contract extension, and the Crows haven't played a game since. If they rated him highly then surely they would have given him longer.

He may well get another contract, but I doubt they would be looking to re-sign him in the first half of the year.

I probably more mean for long term projection I see him as more important than others who are unlikely to be a part of our future.

Only one that's somewhat urgent is Nankervis, but really, we're probably a "wait and see" with all three.

After all, there is definitely a world where we're looking at all of them with an eye to delist them at the end of the year, depending on how the best 22 progresses.

Not at all, because butchering a top 6 pick is crippling.
We aren't the first team to butcher a top 6 pick, and we won't be the last. If you can turn a late pick into a top 15 player in your team, it's a win, no matter how you look at it.

Id be surprised if Nank was on the chopping block given who else we potentially have on it.

Delist Nank, Taylor and Bond next year?
What planet are you on ?
We have a dozen players we would delist before one of those guys goes.
Nankervis is close to best 22

Absolutely it is.

Also, nailing a SPP pick is extremely valuable.

Of course we would have been better off to nail both picks. We'd be better off if we nailed every pick. But getting Murray does mitigate the McAsey disaster to some degree.

We are clearly not looking to delist Nankervis, the guy played 20 straight games from R4 until season’s end

Taylor’s a wait-and-see, but I suspect if he isn’t on our list next year, he’ll definitely be on another team’s list in VIC

Bond I’d keep around for the niche role he plays, but the 1-year contract isn’t exactly a guarantee of one’s future
