Gonna be interesting to see how Pedlar goes next year, you’d think it’s make or break for him. Clearly talented, but need his tank and defensive pressure to be up to scratch, especially if he wants to play midfield

Will be a tough forward line to break into with ANB added, unless Rankine basically plays full-time mid? That said we probably still need some of Rankine’s zip around goal
To be honest, if Pedlar can even just find his 2023 form he’s good enough for a spot in the forward line. He’s at worst a role player for a side contending for finals. It would be a disappointing result because his ceiling is so high but it’s not a terrible floor.

Hopefully his shoulder gets fixed in preseason.

I reckon he is playing sore.

He's off to the Gold Coast allegedly so I reckon Geelong will need to rethink that
If Smith and Rioli are off to the Suns then they will need to clear an awful lot of cap space….

Luko is yet to name a club, but there can’t be too many clubs with the space to accommodate him. If you were Reid, I don’t think that you’d be looking to do the deal early in trade period.

They should have sent him for surgery weeks ago if surgery is needed. If they have waited and its still no good and they send him late, he will have another interrupted preseason and that might be terminal for his career

Gary Lyon last night On The Couch said, there is basically no way Petracca will be released from his contract and maybe in 3 years time they would reconsider it.
Petracca could seek legal advice in voiding his contract if Melbourne failed their duty of care to him.

If i were mfc.. Geelong would be the worst club to deal with. They always underpay for their trades and ask for the world when another club chases their players. Refuse anything unless Geelong pay 3 firsts.

Gold Coast captain Touk Miller says Jack Lukosius has taken his AFL demotion in his stride as speculation swirls around the future of the former No. 2 draft pick.
Lukosius was dropped from the AFL side ahead of the win over Essendon a fortnight ago and not long after it was reported he had met with Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks.
That combination of events has led to speculation the South Australian could seek a trade home at the end of the season despite having two years to run on his current contract.

Gold Coast coach Damien Hardwick last week declared Lukosius was a “required player” at the Suns but conceded he was yet to get the best out of the 24 year old, who has been tested both as a forward and defender this season.
Lukosius was again left out of the AFL side for last Saturday’s heavy loss to Melbourne and instead played in the VFL curtain raiser against Casey Demons, where he booted five goals from 25 disposals and took 14 marks in an 88-point win.

It was a statement performance that will have many looking ahead to selection on Thursday and whether Hardwick recalls the key forward for the trip to Melbourne to face Richmond at the MCG.

The Suns kicked just nine goals against the Demons at the weekend and only two after halftime.

Gold Coast captain Miller, who returned from a wrist injury for the Demons clash, said Lukosius had said and done all the right things internally since being dropped.

“That’s the ups and downs of football for him,” Miller said.

“He’s gone back to the twos and played really well on the weekend which is exciting for us.

“Sometimes those types of knocks when they might come unexpectedly can bring someone down but the fact he’s gone back, played well and accepted it, (he) will only get better from that.

“For Luko over the course of this year he’s probably had a bit of a rollercoaster.

“The messaging has been really clear and precise for him. He’s gone back to the twos and he’s doing what he’s supposed to be doing and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in full flight.”

I guess when you are the one club that doesn't need to worry about a salary cap you can offer the world
FAST FORWARD TO TRADE WEEK

Trade radio..

Trade bell sounds and a trade has dropped.

B Smith to Geelong
Geelongs pick 51 to Bulldogs

Bulldogs comment after the draft, we would have loved to keep Bailey but Geelong were offering $2 million a year and as he committed to Geelong we just had to take what they offered
