Firstly, how do you know it's unlikely to get better? I know were pretty ordinary at this point in the season but i'm pretty confident its going to get better, because it can't get much worse.
Mate, you can't just pick out a single post in a chain of linked posts. You have to look at context.

I don't know it is unlikely to get better. Kane Cornes says it is unlikely to get better. And I said a few posts back I do not necessarily agree with him.

I wonder if Cornes thought West Coast should've offloaded Waterman (currently 26yrs old) the last 2 years when they were absolute shite and he was averaging less than a goal a game?

Lets have a look back at some of the best forwards of the last 20 years and see at what ages they had their best seasons (goalkicking)

Average age of Best Goalkicking year = 25.6 years old
Average age of Second Best Goalkicking year = 27.8 years old
Average age of Third Best Goalkicking year = 26.3 years old

I think that fairly conclusively backs up the argument that most of the best goalkickers hit their prime in their mid-late 20's.

Max is still 23 years old and has kicked over 152 goals from 79 games in his career. Just wait to see what he's kicking between 26-29 years of age.

It Absolutely makes zero sense whatsoever to trade him at probably his lowest value point in regards to return.

Trouble being is King is no where near the quality of the players named - to suggest he will reach their levels is pie in the sky stuff IMO.

I refuse to trade King, just because Cornes thinks its a good idea.
Piss off Cornes.

He throws Molotov cocktails and sits back in amusement. People that take him seriously have issues.

He's a troll who picks on teams at the bottom of the ladder. Just ignore him, otherwise following his logic, the bottom 4 teams may as well have all their players leave and shut down.
Guarantee you will hear stuff all from him on Ports meltdown last night - the media is conflicted (think Eddie), full of bottom feeders working on gossip and innuendo from their mates supposedly in the know (think all of them!), and most importantly either running a protection racket (like Kane with Hinkley & Chad at Port) or an agenda (which coach has to go - Bevo, now RTB, who is next?)

At the time he was drafted we were crying out for mids, but Max was going to be a "generational player" blah blah blah.
He'll still improve, but draft hype drives me insane.
People with total conviction will tell you how a player will be the best in a decade , whether its Ben King or Jonathan Patton.

He's now said we'd get 2 first rounders if King was traded -

Who would accept that...?
Best part was him opening up the phone lines last night for people to call up with their trade suggestions.

My personal favourite was an Adelaide supporter suggesting Matt Crouch and Lachie Shool for him.

After 52 years I’d walk away from the club and from this time, money and emotion draining sport.

But that’s just me.

He's a troll but he is just very good at looking for open wounds and rubbing a bit of salt on them. He goes after the Pies and Blues etc too. He winds people up for clicks and people click like crazy. I don't think he'd bother if he didn't get traction.

I don't mind him. It's a pretty boring footy media without guys like him. I prefer Kano to Gerald Twatley and his pisshead mate. He actually gets you fired up about things. Funny enough sides often respond to his criticism with wins.

You and me both.

Cornes article is trash. According to him, a talented player is struggling so he should throw in the towel and go to a bigger and more successful club.

No mention of fighting through it. Digging in. Gritting his teeth and lifting for his club. Just go. Give in. Quit.

If this logic prevails then you might as well just fold the competition. A number of clubs will never have a hope.

King is one big game away from killing all this rubbish forever. Football is so bloody fickle.

We should never trade King. Ever.

I wouldn’t trade him and imo the club would be laughing at any suggestion we will. Cornes is a laugh I don’t mind him he provides some amusement and certainly gets people talking.

Cornes loves to pick the low hanging fruit. He will always pick off an easy target or make a radical suggestion without building a solid argument to support it.

If we did trade King, and he became a goal kicking machine elsewhere, Cornes would be the first one to pot St Kilda about how they could ever have done something so stupid.

Cornes, if he wanted, could write an article with a bit of depth and research. Such as how King can turn things around so he can become the player Saints hope he will be? What he needs to do (on-field and off-field)? How can he best go about it? How resilience can be the making of a player.

But that’s too hard because it requires some thought and application. Easier just to suggest it’s all too hard and to just leave the club.

As a scribe Cornes is a hack.
