Another gags special- not even getting us in the running.

(Even if the cats had him sewn up early; he at least flirted with a couple of other options, touring facilities etc).

Gags just missed the boat entirely on an opportunity that even nuffies on bigfooty saw coming and thought it was something that make perfect sense for us to be involved in
Dude, we just had a 2 page discussion on why absolutely no one else was in the running for Bowes. Gags can cop a lot but that wasnt even remotely his fault.

Hey but apparently we dropped the ball on this one. Was always going to Geelong - Hawthorn and Essendon offered him more money but somehow some posters reckon we stuffed up.

Biggest scam was Geelong being able to spread Bowes salary over 4 years rather than having to actually honour the terms of his existing contract.

So it was a total salary cap dump? Cats didn't actually take it on? It simply vanished off the books that year.

Needs a Royal commission i think.

Dude, the point I made was that gags evidently didn't even see the opportunity.

Others list managers clearly did a better job than he did- because bowes toured their facilities etc, regardless of whether he was already sewn up by the cats when he was touring other clubs or not.

Other list managers had their time wasted by someone who was already locked in by Geelong.

What opportunity? What evidence? How do you know he wasn't right across it but like the 16 other clubs knew Geelong and GC had already done the deal?
In years to come someone will be just as revisionist about Dan Houstan.

No one outside of Geelong 'saw' the opportunity.

Steven Hocking (as AFL Footy Ops boss) had the inside knowledge of not only GC's salary cap situation but also the amount of $ that was back ended in Bowes' contract. He also knew that the AFL was going to start looking favorably at salary cap dumps.

BEFORE Hockey left the AFL Dangerfield started contacting Bowes & blowing smoke up his arse...

When Hocking did leave HQ & find himself back at Geelong, surprise surprise the Cats are the team of choice for Bowes & GC's need to dump cash from their TPP sees Geelong (with a tight cap of their own) permitted to smooth the contract over extra years.

The 'tours' of Essendon & Hawthorn were nothing more than a ruse to make the 'transaction' look legit.

You and anyone else who is bagging the club or Gallagher about the Bowes trade are talking rubbish.

We enquired early, we were one of the interested parties but when it became obvious that is was Geelong or nowhere then didn't waste any further time on it - end of story.

Hawthorn and Essendon offered Bowes more than Geelong offered but he still went to Geelong. What does that tell you?

"AFL Media reported last week that Hawthorn, St Kilda, Geelong and Essendon were four teams keen on the trade package."

Probably should be, Dan Houston was an AA quality player that other clubs could have become involved in and didn't. Good list management is as much about selling the dream to potential players. It sounds like he was happy to go to clubs in the window. Collingwood are probably on the downhill side of that, we are on the other.

Is this actually a fact that he colluded with the Geelong football club while working in a role for the AFL? Pretty serious allegation. Danger claims that he met him while involved with the juniors and stayed in contact with him. Other clubs still had the opportunity to go to the GC with better offers and force Geelong to pay value. They paid a FRDP for giving a player away. They could have had a similar deal that would have cost them nothing just by giving him away to a vic club.

Could never be proven but don't for one minute think that the AFL is not a boys club (Laura Kane is one of the boys) and that people at the AFL wouldn't use insider info to better their club, maybe a business deal or two between the AFL administrator and the President of the club wanting to do a deal with his club, a facilitator as you will.

Dodgy goings on all the time, Laura Kane drafts concession picks while at North, then approves them after becoming one of the boys at the AFL. Bassett whining at the B&F, his brother is an AFL commissioner, we are certain to get pick 8. When a governing body has unfettered power, this would get done all of the time. Palms are greased, outside interests are colluded between the players, basically it is the AFL deep state :D

Bowes should not have had the right to dictate a club.
If GC got a better offer ( less significant reaming ) from another club, they should have at least tried to push Bowes in that direction.

If other clubs had made better offers, then they could have pretty much forced the Cats to go with the actual rate.
