Disappointing for the kid, would have been a great development year alongside Balta or even up forward in Lynch's absence.

We'll never know, but curious as to the potential of it being a mismanaged injury... maybe just unlucky...
if gibcus played young wouldve been delisted

young has shown way more than gibcus who hasnt done anything in any games . severely overated

This is where maggot pies dumb luck gives me the shits...

2 years ago we draft the best young key defender in the crop but he disintegrates his hammy in his 2nd year pre-season and is a forgotten asset...

Pies old Macedonian Marvel happens to spurt a boy sperm and they have a generational player land in their lap who seems impervious to any young player injury.... :anguished:

I disagree. Gibcus' disposal was far greater than Young has shown. I remember his kicking early in the season to be absolutely lethal. Good intercept mark as well.

Young is more of a stopper. Great with the one percenters for sure, but his kicking is marginally better than Ryan Garthwaite. Don't get me wrong though, he's had a great season, I just feel Gibcus is all round a better player with a much higher ceiling!

It is not uncommon for a severe hamstring injury to take a year to eighteen months to recover. In our experience, the more common smaller hamstring strain takes around 3 to 5 months to recover.

Gibbo ripped his off the bone, only guess but might have been some bone damage too.

Hopefully he carries his Dads genes.
Collywobbles

Do people forget how much angst the club went through when Grimes was the same age and suffered multiple long term hamstring injuries?

I'd much rather they take it cautious with Gibcus in just his second season, to try and ensure that the hamstring issues don't continue to plague him throughout his career.

The irony is that if the club did rush him back and he was to ping it again and have a major set back that required another surgery, the same people bagging the club for him not playing would also be bagging them for not looking after the kid.

Its still a few weeks until the GF, Collingwood's luck starts to run out around that time.

They only have to lose by a point and I'll be happy.
I feel bad as my sister is a Magpie supporter and in 2017 she was barracking for Richmond for my sake, she felt sorry for me, of course 3 flags later her sympathy has tempered so not sure I can repay this family loyalty, unless its a Collingwood v Geelong GF, those Geelong supporters are so needy that they are more annoying than Collingwood and Richmond supporters put together.

Wow that's concerning, still might miss the first 8 weeks of next year then.

Good chance he pulls the hamstring again if the club doesn't work on strengthen his Hammies to take the work load for AFL footy. This sounds like Grimes all over again.
