Yep.

It’s a contrived piece of rubbish that no one understands the calculation for. And the points deductions for slow overrates are best described as random. And they’ve cost teams a spot more than once.

You’ll get the “company line” from the players publicly.

But if you spoke to them privately I’d be willing to bet my house that, the Aussies at least, would be happy to win the Ashes and finish last in the WTC.

The pitch is not great but even Siraj (not just Bumrah) looked dangerous yesterday and that was with a 30+ over ball. Is the pitch that fundamentally different from yesterday?

We were beating the edge enough earlier (without getting the nicks) but a failure to get enough wickets in those phases drained the team.

If a couple more found the edge and Starc gets his LBW we'd have a game.
