Marsh probably won't play in Sydney, but I hate the whole narrative from all the usual social media attention seekers about how now his test career over.

There is nothing about how our top order is batting lately that says to me that anyone's career is over if they can make consistent runs at first class level. No matter who they are or how old they are.

There’s nothing in how marsh has been playing this series to suggest he can make runs outside of grade cricket

The run rate needed is already more than they managed in the 1st innings & the pitch is harder to score on now.

Australia 1st - 3.86
Indian 1st - 3.08
Australia 2nd - 2.78

The dynamic of the game becomes a bit different when there is a known target with a known number of overs remaining.

Pitch is not exactly a minefield with how our lower order batted, with the likes of Jaiswal, Pant and the fact that India’s batting order extends all the way down to 8 they will be going for the win tomorrow.

100 %. If India's coaches are smart they will know about the Sydney rain thing which means they will tell their guys to play for a draw tomorrow unless we offer them a lower total to chase and throw the Carrot out.

Playing for a draw may make the Indians less able to play shots and so more errors

Depends on how they structure the batting order. Kohli and Jaiswal in particular struggle when they go into their shells but ravi thrives on it he can just block for hours.

It takes a massive effort to block out a test match for a day after 4, even if it's benign.

Take Ravi for instance, the average goes from 44 to 19 and has yet to survive 100 balls in the 3rd or 4th innings. Most of India is the same where there batting nosedives in the second dig - though to be fair, that's also true for our batting.

Surely Marsh gets the arse for Sydney? JL was going in to bat for him pretty hard so hopefully that tips Cumdog over the edge and he lets the selectors know what to do.

I really hope we can manufacture a win tonorrow but I will readily admit India have shown their class yesterday and today. Really high quality test cricket, which should be enjoyed, whatever your stripe.
