Said so before today. England were going by to go out there defending a total of 250, not 380. Today was brand new day for the bowlers. Didn’t care that it was 135/0.

Here you go again. It's not about not giving a s**t. It's about varying degrees of success. A drawn home series and not retaining the BG is a failure. But it is better than losing. Like losing 1-2 is better than losing 1-3.

So why is England avoiding defeat after being 2-0 down, sending off one of their all time great bowlers, and simply winning the match unworthy of them celebrating?

Yes they don’t get the trophy and nor should they, they didn’t do enough to win it back. So they’re not celebrating a series win, pretty sure they know that.

It is possible for both teams to have something to be pleased about

How bad did india beating us feel? It was the worst feeling ever. I want England to feel that.

We felt a feeling of inevitability losing in India but them beating us was demoralising, embarassing, traumatic. I WANT THAT for the poms. They’re used to losing to us in Australia it’s lost its cut.

Yeah I wanted us to win the series too. That goes without saying. Essentially securing the series early gives it a flat feeling because England got their results as the series went on. But they'd already blown their chance. They leave with a small comfort, Australia a level above that but well below ultimate satisfaction.

England would be delighted to do this well in Australia, or to have the urn in either country.

Cheating Poms changed the ball overnight. Dead rubber anyway and we were so pissed from retaining the Ashes on the first day we dropped five catches and missed a run out. Can’t wait to beat them easily on our wickets when they come over.
