Good day of cricket

There was a probably a time in cricket where running at the non-striker after a wicket was a bit of a no-no, but it does appear we are past that.
As long as it's all adjudicated fairly and evenly I guess we'll just have to learn to live with it.
Why is it a bad thing? To me it's enthralling.

If it was a boxing match with two gargantuan heavyweights and one of them took a haymaker in the finals 5 seconds of round one, you better believe I'm sticking around for round two.

Let the two biggest dogs in test cricket push the envelope, be aggressive and most of all, put on a show.

I personally can't wait for ball one tomorrow morning.

Just shows how important test cricket is to these two nations, that can never ever be a bad thing.

I’m a bit bemused by how Konstas has so quickly turned into a supervillain in the eyes of the Indian team.

If it’s sledging then that’s just part and parcel of test cricket, especially against Australia.

Is it really because he played some T[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] shots against the esteemed Jasprit Bumrah and scored a [emoji6][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] doing so?

Because nobody gives it to them anymore because of the almighty IPL $$

I would’ve rather had Bumrah rushing his last two balls and face another Siraj over than have that time wasting by Konstas and give Bumrah the opportunity to just focus on his last few deliveries

Dumb cricket that rightfully backfired on us
To be fair Konstas wasn’t the one time wasting.

Will be interesting to see how Konstas responds to a bit of Karma. Usman was firmly in the wrong and I wouldn't necessarily say it was the time wasting but the sheer lack of subtlety, finese or intelligence to it.

Probably reaching if you're blaming Bumrah for anything other than standing up for his team by questioning the umpire and then just giving it back really.

He charged at Konstas then realised "oh shit I'm gonna look like a ****wit so I'll stop".

What a great day for Australia!

How disappointing are India completely outplayed 4 tests in a row now. Can’t believe they won the toss and batted on that greentop. They’ve got Bumrah! Why wouldn’t he bowl!

Predicting pitch to settle as day goes on and a Head ton see Australia 300 by stumps. Smith and Head the obvious keys.

Shane Warne would have given him a verbal send off, but he wouldn't have charged at him menacingly.

Bumrah has first come off his line at Konstas with very little provocation except a shrug and "he's not ready". Konstas should have stayed out of it, but Bumrah should not have gone at him. Konstas only got lippy after Bumrah went at him, and Konstas had every right to not back down. And then Bumrah has rushed him after the wicket while Konstas was minding his own business.

Absolutely pathetic from the Indian captain. And we all know there will be no punishment and the Indians will keep thinking they can carry on like this. And this is the sort of stuff that trickles down to lower grades and ends with a bat being swung at somebody.

No Warnie never got in anyone’s face. cough Marlon Samuels cough

(Yes I realise that was franchise cricket)

McGrath would do it.

. Others have done it. Gayle did it it once without even needing a dismissal to do it. He just wanted to get his team going so he started basically shadowing one of the batsmen and getting in their space and just telling them they didn’t belong out there.

It’s not savoury and ideally it doesn’t happen but it if a player comes out and starts throwing his weight around at 19, older guys will throw theirs back.

Honestly and yes of course this Indian side isn’t within a bull’s roar of the great Australian team - but Bumrah himself is - do you think that if a 19-year-old Pom or Indian came out and played arrogant cricket and got in their face, they would get out of his?

I doubt it.

Amazed people are saying Bumrah and/or Konstas were in the wrong

Players fired up, passionate, emotional. Playing for keeps. Spot fires. Game and whole series on a knife's edge.

The theatre of it all!

This is sport at its absolute best. Gets the blood boiling.

Easy.
It's the classic Indian hypocrisy.

Only theyre allowed to sledge. Not the opposition
Other Australian players sledge but not all of them get the same reaction as Konstas though

Think they want to put a cocky kid in his place but are getting emotionally vested in the process, Bumrah is normally a cool calm and collected character

Steady on, remember how Perth looked after 1 innings.

It'll still be green tomorrow so if they bowl well, I think day 3 and the early part of day 4 is where you want to be batting on this pitch.

Add in the cracks that will only get wider as the test goes on, I think they did the right thing batting first.

Agree, I think it's because he is a teenager some of the experience senior players are biting back. If the role was reverse, I see Smith, Labuschagne and maybe Head doing the same.
