Looking forward to this game. Last time it was a close encounter and I think Richmond are a far different side than years gone by. The midfield tussle will be critical, particularly if Selwood returns. I think the Tigers will be buoyed by the signing of Martin, and feel that it sends a message that he wants to be part of something successful.

I am leaning towards Richmond, mainly due to the fact that I think they play very well at the G and that are in pretty good form. The margin will be 5-15 points I reckon, but the Tigers just.

I've got a good feeling for the Tigers. They can break both their Geelong and finals hoodoos at the same time.

Huge incentive to win in this game specifically because the loser most probably has to play Sydney.

Crowd should be rocking too.
I think a lot is being made of that semi final match up, but I feel if Richmond get Sydney they'll roll them at the G. Geelong I wouldn't put money on, still, Sydney has yet to win.

Anyone else think the Tigers are going to smash them? Tigers by 40 plus, due to beat them, just too good and a more even side
Don't reckon they'll smash them. Cats have a pretty good defence and if they get Selwood back it'll even right out. The key will be how Richmonds defence cope against Taylor, Hawkins, Menzel, Motlop. You can expect a Geelong surge at some point so and I reckon Taylor will be looking to keep Rance one out in the square.

Cant see a smashing either way tbh (although would love Richmond to annihilate them)
Game will be decided by under 20 points.

Should be a good game. I genuinely think it's a toss of a coin, although a mixture of slight reservedness due to past history and team bias means I could be obscured either way. Interested to see other views.
I've got you in a tight one, your midfield is on par but it really hinges on your back 6 withstanding some heat. Don't be surprised if Dangerfield starts forward as well to throw your structure out, especially if Selwood is back.

I mentioned above Dangerfield starting forward. It'll be bold move but I'd consider it. Geelong could start their forward line as the following;

Menzel Taylor Motlop
Dangerfield Hawkins Parfitt

Centre: Menegola S Selwood Murdoch
R: Smith Selwood Duncan

You'd be seriously stretching a Richmond defence and you'd still have plenty of clearance ability through the midfield.

Bloody hell this is going to be a beauty. I've heard the crowd is going to be close to 97,000. Going to be a great atmosphere. A lot of us know Richmond haven't beaten Geelong since 2006 but what a way to break the streak if Richmond win and get to their first PF since 2001. I'm leaning towards Geelong however but Richmond are a good chance. The comparison in performance between Cotchin and Martin vs Dangerfield and Selwood is going to be really interesting. Most intriguing match next week for me.

Noone rates the team that came 2nd on the ladder it seems.
Geelong have been in amazing form lately and won their final 3 games (tigers, pies and gws) after being written off as top 4 hopefuls by many.
The cats matchup extremely well on Richmond and I am quietly confident we will get the job done with ease.

Keep the tips coming, neutrals.

Already I see a few Geelong supporters getting a little over-sensitive. Could we do without the supporters of Richmond and Geelong getting on here and tipping their own team, or chastising those who tip the other mob? Or are we suffering too much attention deprivation syndrome?

Geelong should be too good. They don't have the massive advantage of Skilled Stadium this time around but the 'G' is no huge bonus for the Tigers in this contest and Geelong will have added Dangerfield, Duncan and Hawkins.

Does the loser get to play the winner of 6 v 7 at home the following week?

I think a lot of the backing for us is wishful thinking as neutrals mostly prefer us to win. Any underrating of the Cats, however, has been more than made up for by the supreme arrogance of Geelong supporters (and this is not a personal go at you or your post, just a general observation), understandable perhaps given their record against us but not exactly lovable. If the Karma police are alert then you're in big trouble.

Good. Pump em up.
Only makes the fall even harder.

Trend to continue. Will be 45-9 by Saturday morning.
Geez mate, settle. People giving their opinion.

Tight contest. Either way. Natural Tiges pessimism says Cats by 9 pts.

I'm perfectly calm. The more I see the media commentariat pump the tigers up, Hardwick and Gale talk up their chances.... All the while the GFC is as quiet as a mouse gives me confidence. It's hard to explain but it seems we're focused on the game, not the media tit for tat.

Beat them a month ago without our captain and best forward too.

Don't know why people think we'll get smashed
