And you accuse other supporters of losing it. Maybe you and the two other Giant supporters on the planet should take wins more humbly

If fans can lose with grace then I’ll win with humility.

The outrage and salt on here last night was hilarious.
Made a woeful effort by the Giants, but still a win, all the better.

Bit of a laugh joking about our numbers from a Demons fan though.

Hmmmm....

To quote the great man General Giant. Looks like head high contact. He knows - he has been following the game for a couple of years now. Referee should have awarded a penalty try 😉

Mate I've seen more Melbourne fans at the urinal at half time at the G then there are GWS fans. They had to give tickets away to sit in the crowd with the cheer squad at a preliminary final in 2018

Wow you really really have a thing for the Giants don’t you.

Either join us or move on mate.

Questioning dubious umpiring isn't being salty. The AFL need to be held accountable for the standard of umpiring. This is just a home and away game, but I'd hate for a team to lose a final (or possibly a grand final) because of inconsistent umpiring like last night. We can question both our performance and umpiring separately.

And Tippas staging earlier in the game? The many incorrect disposals by Bombers that were over looked on here? Please

It was consistent. Consistently bad no doubt, but it wasn’t one way traffic.

Walla only received one free kick. It was a soft free, but Langford was legitimately held without the ball seconds earlier and the ump didn't pay that. Townsend didn't receive the free when Ward did. 8 free kicks + a 50 metre penalty to GWS in the last quarter, but only one the other way. 26 free kicks for one side is too much, especially when we weren't any more undisciplined than GWS (except for that dumb 50 by McKenna). The AFL needs to simplify the rules to make it easier for umpires.

Unfortunately, the way this game was umpired did influence the game. We are responsible for letting a 29 point lead slip. The AFL are responsible for the standard of umpiring.

The reason GWS got frees and EFC didn't is because they were second to the ball McKernan 2nd to the ball gave away the free. Townsend second to the ball no free. Towner just charged into Shaw with his head down

I can't see either of these teams "troubling the scorers" come finals time.
Dons don't seem to have the cattle or the plan; Giants can't put it together and will be likely be smashed by Richmond at some point.
We don’t have a forward line.

Stringer, Raz, Daniher, Laverde and then Heppell and Hooker. All best 22, all unavailable for extended periods of time. We are relying on a third rate forward line to kick us winning scores and somehow staying in games (despite the Lions match).

The style of play is slow build up. It’s not counter attacking footy despite the commentary lamenting it every game and still yet to work it out. It’s totally different to what we’ve been doing for years. It’s frustrating as hell to watch.

You mean how after the whistle has been blown Shaw rips McKenna over and onto the ground and no 50 is paid. But McKenna makes contact with Shaw before any whistle has been blown but that's 50?

If you think a fourth quarter 9-1 free kick count +50m penalty in the giants favour has nothing to do with how they clawed back a 5 goal lead then you have rocks in your head.

No bomber fan here is trying to say we are an amazing team or had an amazing night or anything like that, but we are saying we would've won tonight if umpiring was consistent.
Your team lost because your team choked.

It’s as simple as that.

You 3rd string forward line has no hope of doing anything when the blokes up the ground prefer to kick backwards or sideways instead of towards goal.

If this is Ruttens game style good luck Bombers supporters

Autopsy

  1. Good result for my multi, good on you GWS;
  2. General Giant is not well;
  3. Ward should feel embarrassed;
  4. Woosha has served his purpose & the fire in his belly went out years ago. Move forward Bombers, his influence is not serving you well.

I’m very well, happy also.

Look at my profile photo. Far be it for me to defend the Giants.

But if you honestly ******* think that conceding a 5 goal lead is due to umpires you are special.

How about conceding scoring shots at the start of at least 3 of the 4 quarters? How about the McKenna/Shaw 50?

Be an adult, own the loss, face the fact that you let a 5 goal lead go and that you were not good enough to win.
Not sure any bombers fan can claim we lost that through umpiring.
We were awol in the 2nd half and decided to pull the finger out with a clearance in the last 30s. Probably an easy one since the giants knew the game was iced and conceding a goal meant nothing.

To be within a goal of the giants with the quality of team we put out this week is a silver lining, but i think more an indictment on how flakey the giants are.
They should have put us away by 8 goals plus.

We cop a rough deal more weeks than we dont with the umps. But you can't do anything about it other than laugh.

100% we were absolute garbage

Apparently its building. To what i cant see but im writing this year off.

Mckernan, townsend, Snelling, zaka.
Replace with stringer, daniher, fantasia and laverde (assuming he can break the 3 good games then gets injured curse) alongside stewart, tippa and langford and we'll have targets to hit that can score.

We need to recruit another mid as well.
Number 1 focus of the offseason needs to be depth in our middle with some balance in size. Far too short

Looked at again. The umpire who gave the free Guessed.

he was in the centre square, the contact was with both players facing away from him. The forward zone ump called play on, the centre zone ump reacted to the flopping.

terrible decision.
It happens

They arent good at their job. Ive accepted it and moved on. I do get a laugh out of some of their calls. Like the shiel deliberate. While technically there, its often ignored.
Id love a stat on how often we get pinged for deliberate vs other sides. Perhaps we're just that little too obvious.

Hurley is a classic for it. The second he kicks it, you know what he was doing and its gonna get pinged.
We're better off gambling with the corridor.

With these umpiring issues in every game... could it be due to no/low crowds? Is it that umpires rely THAT MUCH on crowd input, that having no roar of fans just leaves them not knowing what to pay? It would explain why West Coast and Geelong get so heavily favored at home. And let's be realistic about last night's game... There would have been a lot less Essendon supporters than usual and Giants fans would have been the clear majority, because Victorians cannot get out of Victoria. In normal times, with the Giants having a low supporter base and Essendon large, even a Giants home game would have had fairly even crowd numbers = more boos/cheers on Essendon's side = more free kicks to Essendon, and less dubious free kicks to GWS..
