No, maybe if it robbed Adelaide of their only chance to win the game. They had a shitload of chances and bottled it. I don’t use the term “soft” lightly when it comes to footy, but they weren’t up for the heat of that contest in the last quarter. They were shitting themselves under the footy, flopping around and playing for frees with knee drops and head throws. Walker sooking like a child after the siren when he had multiple chances late and chose to try to con the umpire and play for the free.

We have snatched undeserved wins like all teams but we didn’t tonight. Essendon were the better team and deserved to win.

I don’t get it. The umpires are just poor. The conspiracies ignore the fact that obvious frees were missed/ignored for Essendon at the end. Does that mean they wanted no one to win?

That's not how timelines work. If you go back and change one event the whole game changes. So your point is not only invalid it fails the most basic test of logic.

Even if it wasn't a woeful point, it would be due to the fact that an incorrect call before HT has nowhere near the same impact as one with 1 second left.

How about instead of captain calls, we give umpires discretion to go upstairs in the last 2 mins. Then they can be free to make the call they should make and have the safety net of being able to check it.

So in that instance they could ping Draper and then if in some sort of weird universe it wasnt right it could be overturned.

This would suck so bad.

The intensity & sweat of the last 2 minutes would be ruined by more stop start.

I say live with it. Plus it’s great for discussion.
