In: Thomas, Fasolo, Hudson
Out: Russell, Seedsman (was legless in the last quarter, needs some VFL games), Jolly

If we drop Ben Johnson I may not go, he was immense today when the game was on the line.

If your omitting Johnson and or Russell, you need a half back/back pocket to replace his role.

Fasolo is not that player. Frost is probably too tall and not fast enough to play on small forwards.

Fasolo could use another game in the twos given Sinclair probably doesnt deserve to be dropped after kicking 2 goals and was very good defensively. Also Dwyer is another half forward in too good of form to be dropped for Fasolo.

My changes:
Witts for Jolly
Thomas for Seedsman

In: Witts Thomas Fasolo
Out: Jolly Seedsman Caff

Maybe keep Fasolo in the twos for one more week. But I think Caff and Goldsack are under pressure to keep the spots in the side.

Also can't belive half the people here wanted Elliott dropped last week.

Is this serious?

Yeah that one has me scratching my head as well.

In: Hudson, D Thomas and Frost
Out: Jolly, Seedsman and Johnson

Frost coming in is a must IMO with the Hawks likely to play Roughead, Franklin and Hale forward for much of the match. Hudson for Jolly is obvious. Finally Seedsman gave us nothing so D Thomas is like for like.

Yep, he was good in that last quarter, and yes, some of his kicking was woeful but he was instrumental in the goal that Elliott kicked on his own in the last, and several other key plays.

BJ is easily in our best 22, if he's not I give up and will gladly stop posting here, or anywhere.

Well I reckon BJ is Finished and Player should take his Place by Seasons End

What a monstrous post. The only thing that saves his can is Seedsman's ordinary performance and prior credits.

Easily best 22?

He's behind Shaw and Toovey in terms of small defenders, and at this stage probably marginally ahead of Russell and Clarke. And on exposed AFL form, comfortably in front of Seedsman, though the boy is on the improve, today's effort notwithstanding. Depending on who plays where, Goldsack may be in direct competition with him for a spot too, and I'd rate Goldy as marginally in front of him at this stage. He won't be competing with Harry anymore thanks to his move to the wing.

Anyway, when a team would usually field four or five small defenders, Johnno finds himself smack bang in the middle of that group behind Shaw and Tooves, probably competing with Russell, Clarke, Seedsman, and maybe Goldy, for only three or four positions. He's leading that race right now, but much like the 2010 year when we saw O'Bree, Medders, Fraser, Tarks and the like shaded by younger teammates, I could see him slipping to the 2nds once our brigade of Thomas, Ball, Beams and co force their way back in, and if the new recruits and youngsters find some improvement in their game.

I love the man, but he wasn't great on Yarran today - getting beaten aerially under a skyball by Yaz is pretty abysmal, really.

Quote from the latest "In Black and White" magazine ...

Derek Hine said:
...we felt that if he could tick off physically, which he did, he becomes an asset down the road to play on blokes like Lance Franklin ...

... and he's talking about Jack Frost.

Hudson for Jolly is the obvious first change. The recruitment of Hudson seems like a masterstroke now and he looked sharp in the VFL yesterday.

The other changes are less obvious. Daisy looks ripe for a run so someone has to make way. Seedsman offered nothing when he came on and as a similar player would look the most likely to make way.

The Hawks play with 3 and maybe even 4 tall forwards (depending on whether Gunston comes back in) so I would think on the back of a very tidy game in the VFL yesterday Frost has to come in. Not sure who between Russell and Johnson makes way. Both were average at best tonight but asking Russell to cover either Garlett or Yarren was pretty unfair and he tried manfully. It's probably Johnson for me, not really sure what he's offering at the moment.

So in summary
In: Hudson, Thomas, Frost
Out: Jolly, Seedsman, Johnson

Although I expect after a game like today a few may pull up sore so a couple of mare changes may be on the cards.

G'day guys, would have been a cracker at the G today, I watched the first half when you guys were mostly trailing a little and didn't look like you were quite on. I always thought that you had plenty of improvement in you and thought you would get over the line.

From our game today Sewell got subbed off with a strain/tightness in his hammy, he would have to be in doubt. Appart from that we had defenders cramping all over the shop playing in 31 deg in Perth. Max Bailey probably played his best game for the Hawks today and appart from that it was the usual suspects doing most of the damage.

Should be another massive game at the G (nothing you guys aren't used to) looking forward to it.
