Can see you guys with a lineup like this. Missing Swan, Krakeour and Johnson from your best 22. Goldsack if fit for Seedsman the only change? I think Wood could perform a good role against Goldi though with Todd not having the best game against Essendon itll be a risk for you guys resting Jolly.

B: Maxwell Brown Obrien
HB: Toovey Reid Shaw
C: Beams Thomas Sidebottom
HF: Didak Dawes Blair
F: Tarrant Cloke Fasolo
R: Jolly Wellingham Pendlebury
I: Goldsack Sinclair Elliot Clarke (S)
Thats a strong team. How has your record at Etihad been in 2012?

Well lose Wells, Adams and Grima this week. Replaced with Thomas, Ziebell and Pederson.
B: McMahon Thompson Firrito
HB: Atley Pederson Wright
C: Anthony Ziebell Gibson
HF: Harvey Hansen Harper
F: Tarrant Petrie Thomas
R: Goldstein Swallow Bastinac
I: MacMillan Cunnington Garlett Campbell (S)
We are due for a down game after 2 months on the up. And Im not too sure which of our mobs will be more ****ed after last weekends game.

Itll be closer than expected but I can see your premiership stars willing you over the line.

Rodney Eade was on AFL 360 then, and he even mentioned that Pendles had a tight back at half time and carried that for the second half, so we do have a few sore players leading into this match it seems, but so do North.

I don't think Pendles will play this week, as back tightness can lead to hamstring problems. Not worth the risk so close to finals. Also Jolly played out the game against Sydney with a "couple" of painkiller jabs. So we could have a couple of changes for the North game-

Out: Pendles, Jolly
In: Johnson, Wood

We have only played two there, we beat Port by 24 points in round 4 and the Bulldogs by 21 in round 6.

I think we need to rest Jolly against North AND Essendon.

It's better to risk having Wood in the side against North and Jolly against West Coast, then having a possibly fragile Jolly against North and either a definite fragile Jolly, or Wood, against West Coast.

Actually, maybe not against Essendon, because if we win the first final that allows Jolly to get the week off. But I don't see Jolly being able to make an impact if we make the Granny, without winning the first final. As he will have to string together a heated Essendon game, Finals 1, Finals 2 and Finals 3 before playing the GF

Last week North had 3 tall forwards with Hansen/Tarrant deep and Petrie playing a more CHF role.
Tarrant wasn't plucking them but was getting hands to the ball and Hansen was more dangerous when it hit the deck with his mobility. I'd play Reid on Petrie, Brown on Tarrant Jr and Maxwell on Hansen. Harry and Shaw to play the pestering roles and give us rebound.

Norths midfield likes to take risks to set up open play off half back so obviously being on tackling wise is important.

Their backline looks easy to get one out individually so I'm for our big forwards to dominate. We will catch these guys out a lot within pressure and turnovers we need to capitalise on this better.

No changes for me this week.

Pies by 23 after some late North goals.

On Krak and Johnson I think we should give them one more game at VFL and as long as they get through unscathed bring them in against West Coast.

From what I have seen Johnson is looking the most likely with his performance however I think that Krak has shown enough to warrant a bit of a gamble.

Ideally you would want him to play enough games at a high level to really force his way into the side but with only a handful of regular season games left I think we need to take the risk. The pay off if he can get back to his 2011 best would be huge for us. Even if he shows that he is not ready then at least we gave him a go. This risk is well worth taking in my mind... roll the dice match selectors

I can't believe that anyone thinks we can select anything other than our best available side for this game. North Melbourne play a precise kicking game out of defence that our team does not cope with well. They nearly took the Eagles with it here in Hobart. We can't be clever with "resting" players against them. Our midfield is stretched with Swan out Ball gone and Thomas doubtful. Far from dropping Sinclair, it may be necessary to call on him in the midfield for that last exchange.
We need Johnson back and would like Krakouer and McCaffer, but they can only come in when they are fit. Their stats from the VFL seem to say that they are not there yet. It will be a problem bringing any of them back for the game on oversized Subiaco, but it may have to happen. Perhaps the team will have to operate with effectively 2 subs over there, to bring in the returnees.

I think its time to get Krak in this week.

I know he has only had 2 games but i see him as a vital cog for our 2012 finals campaign.. We need to get him up to speed as soon as possible.. Bring him in this week as the sub to get some touch back and next week a full game. Johnson IMO can come in when he is ready. Our problem then is who we see as more important to finals success..

The following players are probably rated 20+ in our team, and those last 2 spots are going to be tough to judge.

Seedsman, Sinclair, Goldsack, Elliot, Buckley, Clarke, Caff

Right now imo our best 21 are:

Toovey - Brown - Johnson
Obrien - Reid - Maxwell
Shaw - Swan - Thomas
Wellingham - Cloke - Didak
Dawes - Tarrant - Krakouer

R: Jolly, Pendles, Beams

Int: Blair, Fasolo, Sidebottom
Sub: ????

It will be interesting to see what the coaching panel think as we approach the finals. I think what we definitely will see is Tarrant may make way for Goldsack, Caff or Elliot if we want to apply more ground pressure. Or perhaps Brown is the one to make way with Tarrant moved back.. One thing for sure is that we will need Tarrant for Buddy if that takes place.

I think its time to get Krak in this week.
Nope, I don't care if his name is Dane Swan, any player earns their way back into this team now, and Andrew Krakouer has not shown enough fitness or consistency of performance at VFL level to show that he can stand up to senior football yet. This is yet another absolutely must win game this week, we can't lose to a bottom of the eight side again, and to bring a player in who is not ready, and will give us next to nothing is not right.

Ben Johnson is more ready then Krak, yet I don't think he'll play this week either, but we can not select Andrew Krakouer or Brent Macaffer after two poor performances at VFL level coming off a 6 month break.

If Krakouer plays this week, we'll lose, or at least have a greater chance of losing, you can't go into a game against an in form finals side with players who are not ready for AFL level football.

That's not to say we I am writing either Caff or Krak off, I'm just saying they are simply not ready yet, and therefore can not even be considered this weekend.

One more VFL game at least for all three I say.

I think next week is the time to bring them in. One game before finals is not enough.

If having Krak and BJ playing well in finals increases our chance of a flag by say 5% then I am willing to play them even if that lowers our chance of winning against West Coast by 5% IF we win this week against North. That way even if we lose we will still make top 4 by beating the Bombers. If we lose this week then that may change things.

It is a risk but the value come September of having players of their class to me means we should pull the trigger.

All this talk about resting players is nonsense i think. We are not in the same position we were in last year. We need to win every game from here on in and to do that we need our best team on the park, which definitely includes Jolly. It has been shown this year that we do not have a reliable back up ruckman, and if jolly goes out this week against a very in form north melbourne, we have a much bigger chance of losing. Depending on how we are traveling throughout the match we can put dawes in the ruck for extended periods of time if we need to, but resting jolly in my opinion is not an option.

Perhaps... I just think, looking at the big picture we will need Krak and BJ for the finals. They address our sides deficiencies perfectly imo.
I don't argue with that, but we still have 2 home and away games after this week, that's plenty for Krak, Caff or BJ to get back and show if they can still go at the top level. I just think this week is one week is too early.

BJ is a must for finals, he bring that extra pace and drive off half-back. No doubt shaw will be targeted during the finals, and if his influence is curbed, our drive from the backline really depreciates. BJ will add that back into the team. He was in great form before he got injured. Top 5 on the ground during the Anzac day clash

I reckon you guys will go in unchanged. The only querie was Daisy but hell play.
Big crowd in Saturday night.
I think we will be debuting our white on blue jumper against you guys aswell.
Appreciate the idea for the clash strip in advance also.
As we can concentrate on the important stuff now and thats the footy.:thumbsu:

Highly likely we will go in unchanged but it would not shock me to see Benny J out there with the green vest on.....even if its a last minute change with a youngster making way, eg Elliott.

Looking forward to the game this Saturday night. I can't make it this week unfortunately but should be able to find a screen to watch it *fingers crossed*

Is this not the Argentina style clash strip? I was actually a fan of that one TBH

Not wanting to jinx things but could there be a risk of a flat performance this week?

Our fellas got a lot of self belief out of last week's game but it was such a bruising & intense encounter. They were going hard and in the hurt-locker right up until the final siren...

Our conditioning staff would be working 24/7 to get the players fresh, and I'd be making sure that the team is switched on, and focused on the task at hand.

There's no easy games for Collingwood I guess, but this week will be a test of the team's ability to recover and back-up after a finals intensity slashfest.

Really looking forward to this test, your mob have well and truly put us in our place for years, hopin to see some real improvement.

Adams as you know is gone for the season, Wells will also miss which is a big loss for us as it exposes Harvey to a tag. I think Grima is touch and go but he is our ideal CHB so I think they'll do what they can to get him up.

Any thoughts on match ups for Petrie, R.Tarrant & Hansen?

Edit: As I posted that Scott announced Grima and Wells would both miss.

I don't think either are ready for this week, but I would look at bringing one or both in for the WCE game. Start Benny on the ground, and sub him off half way through the third quarter for Krak.
