Fair point. I was just trying to be optimistic.

In fairness, I think if we get within 4-5 goals of North this afternoon it will be a big step forward from last year when we were flogged by 10 goals in the corresponding fixture.
I just hope we have found some good footballers too watch, So we can get better each week

A practice match is just that, you don't take to much out of it. We need to improve in the real stuff that's what counts, We was just so hard too watch last year i turned it off in so many games.

I think coming off the bin fire of a season last year we need to take any positive whether it be a pre-season match or not and build on it. I’m not saying we are going to set the world on fire but it must give this young group some cause of optimism heading into the new season.

New coach, 8 new players this week, most of the deadwood shipped out, hopefully a better game plan (watch and see). Plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the direction this team is heading in.

Reflecting on my response it was actually understating that I think the Cats will be a much better side simply though having Prespakis and Morrison in the team, albeit losing Purcell hurts. The changes augur well for improvement it is more whether it can be bedded down in week 1 or more gradually over the first month.

I think the Cats would actually be disappointed by a 4-5 goal loss and would be aiming to be in the game (or in front) at 3QT.

I gotta work basically every weekend for the next few months, so I'll be watching a lot of AFLW replays rather than viewing the games live unfortunately; I'm in the clear today though, and looking forward to seeing how the side has changed from last year.

I've got a couple of issues with selection but I'll hold fire until the game has been played ..

Interested in your selection issues?

We will be a much better team this year with the infusion of new blood and additional improvement from younger players but I will still count any win as a bonus and a spur to our girls to be better.

Definite skills improvement from last year.

Seems to be a better game plan too.

Still falling down at CHF.. need my Lib back down there to present and mark.

Need the MF to get better use thru the guts going into F 50 too.

Good start thought too only be 8 points down.

GO Catters

There's no doubt Prespakis (Of the Georgie variety) is an exceptional player, I find it hard to get excited becuase I don't believe she will stay.

On the other hand Nina has had a vg return so far, liked what I've seen from Kearns, Webster and Liv Fuller.

Get use to it W/AFL will be like NRL swapping clubs all the time

Seems clear we're trying to play more direct & going straight down the guts, especially compared to last year, but we're not necessarily hitting up a teammate which is what's letting us down at the moment

Need to hit up a teammate to get some control of ball movement
