Gonna go off topic for a bit and repeat something I've suggested before but I'm still in the boat of wanting to rookie Brady Grey.

Just think with the three gun mids his hardness would be an asset. can picture him doing the blocking for Yeo/Shuey/kelly. Can also tag and genuine option to throw into the middle from HFF when we need to get back on top of the contested ball.

I've come to appreciating Hutch over the years after being a huge critic but to me he just can't go with the Inside/contested leaning mids and hence Yeo has to either tag or go h2h against them. I really want Yeo to be a more offensive weapon next year.

I hope you are kidding.

Two first rounders and an early second for TK? That's madness for a 25 year old who plays as untagged 3rd or 4th mid behind a mix of Danger, Ablett, Selwood, Duncan etc.

For that price I'd rather he went to Freo...
and I detest everything about that skidmark club.
I think if we are giving up 3 picks (including if we need to bundle to get into the top 10) then we are well within our rights to ask for a pick back in the trade (2nd round).

I saw a report saying Geelong want 2 x top 10 or if not then 1 x top 10 and 2 x 10-20. At that price lets go talk to Melbourne. Seriously they would consider 14, 24, 33 and 2019r1 for pick 3. We then offer Geelong pick 3 for TK and 17.

Essentially ends up a 2019 1st and 2 x 2nd round for TK (plus a 3 spot downgrade in the 1st round this year)

As Vozzo said, there is a point where the price is too high.

Given its an 18 team competition and you build you list around hard to replace quality kp players Kelly would be ranked between 25 and 30.

The Eagles would rank McGovern and Darling ahead of Kelly. Naitanui if not injury prone.

Pies Grundy.

Its easily higher than 18 as every club would rate 1 player higher than Kelly in importance to their aet up.

Can’t see anyone on Gold Coasts list is rank higher

This is what trade week is for. Crazy solutions to problems that don’t exist.

Essendon LOSE Daniher / GAIN Picks 9 & 14
Sydney LOSE Papely & pick 5 / GAIN Daniher
Geelong LOSE Kelly & 57 / GAIN Pick 5, WCE future 1st & Stevens
West Coast LOSE 14, 33 and future 1st / GAIN Kelly
Carlton LOSE 9 / GAIN Papley & 57
St Kilda LOSE Stevens / GAIN 33

Crazy Vozzo is given a statue at Optus and songs are sung through the ages.

Reckon that's pretty good. Possibly give 5 to the Bombers and 9 to the Cats given the contract status of those two

Not against adding him to the rookie list. He was certainly one of the better performers for the Beagles all year and adds a little depth to the mids. Cheaper than either SPP or Acres, who are others that have been mentioned.

Do we get to keep him as a Beagle next year, if he doesn’t make on AFL list?

Players requesting trades to clubs just needs to stop full stop really. Clubs should be able to trade their players anywhere they want at any time if this is what players can do in the example of the king case up in Gold Coast.

I disagree, we shouldn't be trying to embody the American system. The reason the players can get traded without their consent is because they get paid ridiculous amounts of money. One of the top paid players in the NFL earns five times our salary cap in a single season.

Add in the fact that it just further commodifies the sport, turning clubs into a revolving door of players, and I'm happy with how it currently is.

And as you pointed out we being the competition simply couldnt afford it.

If you think Kelly was playing behind Ablett and Duncan in Geelong’s midfield at any stage this year I’m not sure you saw much of Geelong.

He was also our most tagged mid during the year, as Danger played 60/40 mid/fwd...

I get the angst with players who aren’t free agents nominating clubs. It’s really an anachronism in the system. Either they’re free agents and they can pick their club, or they’re not and they can’t.

I think the system as a whole is too restrictive and there should be more freedom of player movement. But in the current setup there’s no basis for Kelly, or Hill or Papley or Daniher or anyone else, to say “I want a trade and I want a trade to this one club only”.

Having said that, if it’s good enough for everyone else to do it then it should sure as hell be good enough for Kelly to do it.

I think you are getting too caught up over the "cost" of getting Kelly.

The flip side to that is that there is also a "cost of not getting Kelly". i.e. taking.a punt on a couple of 18-19 year old who may or may not turn out to be very good players in a couple of years time.

At this stage, I think the price of 14+24+2020 first is high, but would immediately enhance our 2020 prospects. Our window is now. Let's get it done and do what needs to be done to put ourselves in best possible position to win the flag in 2020.

If 14 and 24 and future 1st is required, I'd do it. The reality is the window is open now, and Tim Kelly is an immediate,, significant upgrade on the first 18.

Also means we still have 33. Chris Masten is our only retirement apart from the usual delistings and he can obviously be replaced.

Confident however we can get this done with just 14 and 24. I have been of this opinion since day dot.

If Geelong are saying that two first round picks won't get it done I don't see how they accept 14 & 24.
I've been saying all along the smartest thing to do is try and get a high first round pick and just threaten the bag of dick eaters with taking Kelly in the draft. Actually being able to do it is obviously the sticking point but I think we've got more chance of achieving it than working out a fair trade with the bag of dick eaters.

I do wonder what pick 14 + 24 + 2019 R1 would be able to shake loose in the top 10.. it really is borderline way too much. If we get high enough we have leverage to get something back from Geelong.

24 swapped for 33 in that deal I'm getting more comfortable, but not overly keen on 2 more drafts where we enter past pick 30 after coming in so late last year also.

If Kelly doesn't get a trade to the eagles and refuses to be traded to the dockers and then walks away from Geelong does he go into the November national draft or the pre season draft?
