Kayne Turner, 5 disposals, 0 tackles. Dude is literally out there just doing cardio every ******* week.

If Cunnington gets subbed for zero clearances surely Turner gets dropped this week.

Oh shut up dickhead. It was a dig at the club and our too long to remember history of being s**t kicks, not a dig at Sheezel. But he was pretty poor today, if any other player had 11 turnovers we’d be calling for his head.

But I guess you have a soft spot for turnover merchants.

CHALLENGE: Acknowledge Sleevo had a good game.

I was at the game and we legit did not move.

Someone gets the ball in the defence and all our players just stood around.

We didn’t rock up today. Even our midfield was so flat footed
I wasn't at the game, but we legit moved out of D50 time after time to leave their forwards unchecked out the back

Saw on the broadcast Goldstein told either Corr or Logue (or both) to “f*** off” as they walked past him.

Wonder if they had something to say about the lack of pressure up the ground because our mids got smacked today.
I think that was in the 2nd half after a stoppage close to goal when Logue (I think) let a lions player get past too easily. One of the many goals they scored too easily.

Defence was a rabble.

Midfield totally dominated once Simpkin injured.

McDonald needs to renounce his captaincy and get the **** out of the team

Stevo and Chom the only highlights for us.

Paul Curtis should be playing in front of Turner, but he deserved to be dropped this week to send a message that you aren’t there yet and half arsed isn’t good enough.
I’m not arguing about Curtis long term spot in the team just the lack of genuine options we have.
Sad state of affairs we could delist a bunch of the kids tomorrow, as if they are not getting a game in front of Turner atm, you’re clearly not in plans going forward.

Zero run out of defence turned into costly turnovers late in the game.
They added more and more pressure until we popped.

We looked a million $ being able to control ball movement in the early games because of players like Goater and Bergman, I hope next year they can run out games. As we’re way to slow if we play three talls and Ziebell McDonald behind the ball.

Jack has played well this year, in fact I would say almost the best I have seen him play barring some good years up forward.

However, being in the team with 3 talls isn't best for the team, it is just too slow because of it. Only confident coaches make the change though.

We played far too loose in defence and once they started dominating the midfield it was only going to end one way.

Sure we could've made some changes and limited the damage, but to what end? We aren't playing finals this year. The most important thing right now is instilling a solid game plan for the future and discerning which players are best suited to execute it.

I remember Clarko in his early days at Hawthorn left a young Zac Dawson on Anthony Rocca all day. It wasn't a fair fight and he was destroyed, bringing the whole team down with him. It was considered cruel at the time but Clarko defended it afterwards saying it was all about the long term development of the side. A couple of years later they won the flag (admittedly Dawson didn't play in the premiership but that's not the point).

The first two rounds were nice, but I think they gave many a false sense of where we're at. The reality is they were wins by less than a kick against pretty average clubs. The following three games have shown us we are still very much a work in progress. While disappointing, being smashed by one of the best teams in the competition is not entirely surprising at this point.
Agree with all this but note Clarko had a young team in his early days at Hawthorn so 'lessons' needed to be undertaken and followed.

However we are a mature team - 6th oldest again this week - we need to see how many of these 'old dogs' have the capacity and/or inclination to learn any new tricks at their age.

And Brisbane aren't a great team by any measure - certainly not away from home.

It was our ineptness that made them look great today.

We effectively have a full list to choose from (and this has been rare for us over this past 5 years) and we now have an AllStar coaching panel.

However we are getting it wrong at selection and it appears we are getting it wrong on match day.

If we were young and shit then these performances (and the last 2 week's) could be justified - but when you are old and shit its a different story.

I thought the last 3 years was 75% on the coaching. Now I’m starting to think we have the worst list in the comp.

Game changes in 2022, requires running power. We have not drafted particularly well to meet that. We have some good pieces but until we add 3-4 powerful runners to what we saw today, we will not make the jump.

Yes I completely agree with this, Corr/Logue and Ziebell are playing for the same spot at the moment.
They can’t all play in the same team with McKay.
Add McDonald in that lot and it’s a recipe for what happened today.

As much as I love Sheezel he was horrible today. 11 turns. Every third possession a turnover. No doubting our club, we can take one of the most skillful young kids and turn him into a turnover merchant with in a couple of months.
The kid had a corkie during the third quarter when most of his turnovers occurred....l think he could be given some slack..There were others out there today that were alot worse..

Poor drafting.

Especially when we have options in the MSD to bring in state league players more capable than what we have drafted.

Lazarro, Mahoney, Spicer all should be playing in front of Turner, except they aren’t up to the level.

Even the bull was hardly sighted......

That’s just out of line. He had an average game. To say that our club has turned him into a turnover merchant after 1 game? Pull your head in.
Yep Clarkson in the presser said Sheezel copped a corkie which affected his kicking - I’m pretty confident disposal issues aren’t going to be a pattern with him moving forward

It's telling we got also got similarly slaughtered by the Hawks when Simpkin was an out

Unfortunately our older stalwarts don’t have a lot of fight in them anymore. They would have guidance skills around the club but I think they have just forgotten how to lead , compete and win on field. As Big Al has said it’s the 22 to 26 aged players that will take us forth now. Hope they can bounce back next week and lead from the front .

What was the voice like from the players? Seemed a few bits of play where a lack of voice from teammates was a problem (there were a few other problems to keep it company).

I agree that it's a bit disingenuous to use our relative age and experience as an excuse. There's more to it than that though. Anybody who has ever played a team sport would know the importance of stability. When you have been playing with the same group playing the same roles for years things just start to happen automatically - and you can feel it when your opposition aren't as well drilled. We have had so much instability on and off the field that even though we aren't really a young side, we play with the same lack of cohesion as one.

Harry’s folks just on our loop bus back from barker. Someone asked him if he was Peter malinouskas.

Very reserved - super polite, just said my son plays for north Melbourne. Seemed lovely

Edit: made sure through all the drunken dickheads that he knew that his son has bought a lot of joy to our club already and how good it was to see him kick a great goal
