I think Clarko is pretty close to losing the players tbh and I don’t say that lightly. It’s an indictment on the group tbh.

The effort is gone, the shine has well and truly worn off, particularly for the senior players who thought they were going to play in a rejuvenated side.

Watching today you could easily name 10-15 of them that looked like they absolutely hate playing football at the minute, a good half a dozen would move clubs instantly if they could.

Morale is ****ed into oblivion.
As hard as it may be, some players are going to have to be moved on, and some humble pie eaten as well. A few alterations in the team would change things.

Lmac is cooked beyond recognition. Its all over for him. Same with Corr. But we have to go with what we have got in those areas.

Larkey will be captain in 2025.

No interest in Larkey, he is just not a great role model on the ground. Biggest whinger we have.

We intercepted the ball only 54 times today but our average is not much better at 56 - the worst in the league. We just cannot get the ball off the opposition. We've looked like witches hats against every side. We are useless defensively around stoppages and just about everywhere else.

You mean that we - in all but name - become an expansion club.

If it’s what needs to happen.

People, actual human beings have collectively driven this club into the dirt.

It's precisely what I mean. It's patently evident that no one at the club has the skill set and/or drive to make anything out of this dumpster fire. A dumpster fire that's completely out of control. I can't see how it gets fixed - we're that far behind everyone else and amazingly getting worse.

The club needs root and branch overhaul where no one from Sonja down is safe from scrutiny. Sadly, that may mean that we go completely under the AFL thumb. With a 19th team coming in, from 2028 we may need them more than they need us.

If all theplayers stripped off after the game we'd be struggling one bruise amongst the lot of them. Half the team are absolutely averse to contact and should be sacked.

The experience today was alleviated only slightly by the two Beavis & Buttheads behind us, their banter was actually pretty funny (one a North guy, the other a Hawks guy). Otherwise, it was a shocking day, I hadn't seen us play live this year and it's actually worse in person. I don't leave matches early but I don't blame anyone for doing so today. It's looking really bleak; I'm a 30 year consecutive member, and have seen a lot in that time. Too much is being left to too few in this team, we're sluggish and seem resigned to turning it over time and time again. It's not the North I know, but it's the North we have right now, I'll keep going to games but I understand why others will just drop off. I just feel sorry for all the little kids in North jumpers. Hang in there kids...
All the kids are dropping off we are going to lose a generation

I have never seen a team butcher so many opportunities given to them when a opposition turnover occurs.

It's almost like we are so low on confidence we can't even football the basics at all. This is especially obvious with our more experienced players. God help me and this footy club.
We had plenty of chances. Hawks are pretty ordinary. Today is on Zurharr, LDU, Larkey, Scott, Simpkin. It’s not their fault they got handed a poisoned chalice, but they’re our good senior players. Let Z walk, and if LDU wants out the door is there.

Would it be acceptable to put our best team on the park for the VFL team and focus on winning a flag there with a view to developing a winning culture and transitioning that playing group into the AFL say over the next three seasons? When i ask if its acceptable I mean as a strategy we could get away with?
No because we’d get done by 100 points a week in the seniors, the AFL would strip draft picks for tanking, and commercially it would be a disaster.

On the plus side it would be nice to see some wins and finals footy - though we’d probably still get knocked out in the semis by Werribee or GC 2nds

Agree, plays for frees to compensate for lack of overhead craft. Needs to be freed up which is why we are crying out for a fwd key with good dukes.

Are we meant to be playing a full ground zone when not in possession?

It's hard to always tell on the TV coverage, but numerous times today I could see 3-4 North players clustered together, then space. If we're playing a zone, no one knows where the feck to go it seems?

There were a few times they clearly showed a Hawks player standing by themselves in space, with north players zoning a good 20m off them.

It was insane how much space they were given to move the ball.
