look over the footage and drop any player that was laughing or smiling after the game. Drop them for 2 weeks if they were doing it with opposition players.
You can't do that. I know what your saying because I hate it too and having played footy I never did that but they all do it now, and its just the thing they do after a game , it doesn't mean they are not hurting but it sure as hell looks like they don't give a sh*t!

No can do, draft tampering, a big if but if we have the no1 pick and pick a player at 1, they will be coming to our club for at least 3 years and shortly after would be offered an extension. No youngsters are going to do that for many reasons the first I've already said, the other is that it implies I only want to be in a good side and because of my potential and ability I don't want to be with a bottom team, really, what do you think that says about the kid in question if that happened? I could tell you but it wouldn't be pretty!
They'd end up at Port Adelaide like JHF.

The main takeaway I have from today is that in the short term, it is not a major priority for Clarko to win games.

It’s not quite tanking, but bloody hell it’s just about as hard to watch.
Someone at the club might want to tell him that if members have to sit through that garbage week in week out that their priority might not be to watch this club play and stop spending money on memberships.

If he wants to **** around and break the club, that’s on him and his bosses.

Negatives:-
  • quite possibly my lowest point as a supporter of this club, even worse than 98. That GF was the one that got away, whereas today we are staring into the abyss. We have no future and after five years of being rubbish we are looking at another 2 -3 years of pain. For ****'s sake.
  • Horrendous environment for our young stars, too much is being asked of them.
  • Zuhaar has officially checked out? Shadow of his former self.
  • Hand on heart, I cannot remember the last time Larkey has had a chest mark in the forward 50.
  • The worst performing defence I have ever seen of any club.

Positives
  • part of our woes is due to having too many small, developing players. In a lot of contests we are unable to physically compete, which doesn't make losing any easier but at least it's an actual reason. So I'm putting that down as a positive.
  • A small number of players seem immune to the ineptitude on display and keep fighting - Larkey, Curtis, Sheez...it's a small list.
  • Unpopular opinion but I think Drury and Lazzaro should get another week. Limited upside but they are at least showing some improvement this season.
  • We got to see Charlie down forward. Not a lot happened today but if we're going to be leaking goals regardless might as well at least see if he and Nick can work down forward together. Arguably the only interesting thing we have to think about right now.

All in all, quite possibly the worst gameday experience I've ever had.

I feel like that narrative has shifted. Last year the sentiment was very much “great effort, but we need to convert it into wins next year”. (I’m sure Sonja said something along those lines).

Now we don’t even see the effort. Wins are further away than ever. They can spin it however they want, but something reeks at the club.

One positive for the Roos in my opinion, is at least your guys never gave up and played out 4 Qtrs.

It’s going to take more than 24 months for both our new coaches to turn things around.

I had hoped Sheezel was moved to middle so I could see him in action.

Never gave up?

We lost by 45 points to your rabble.

Had a mate attend today who is a Collingwood supporter and sees plenty of their footy under Macrae at the MCG.

After the game I genuinely asked him to name the 2 things that stood out as stark differences between us and them.
I know there's a hundred issues you can easily point out, but from routinely watching the Pies at the G and then seeing us tonight at Marvel - what could he pinpoint as the major differences.

2 things stood out.

1) Fitness
2) Effort

We are not fit enough. It was an absolute joke how often our defenders trailed their man or we couldn't chase their halfbacks from launching attack after attack. Don't even get started on the spread from the contest and getting lost in transition.
Kevin White is a fraud. Collingwood doesn't get rid of anyone who could be a potential asset in the industry and yet we landed with the dud.

The lack of effort and desire to win a contest is at its worse in my time watching and supporting this club. How many times did we see a 50-50 ball and a North player pull up and allow the Hawks to weave their way through. This is the issue with having no quality leaders and no standards on and off the field.

There is a lot of feeling of anger and disappointment amongst the members. Much of it would be tempered if the players pulled their fingers out and actually had a dip. There was nothing to get excited about today. 40 minutes of footy in 6 weeks does not cut it.

And yet I can't believe we sit here and there are sane posters genuinely calling for the AFL to intervene. Myself being one of them.
This has broken us. This Hawthorn side tonight is not AFL standard itself. Think about that for a second.

Every coaching appointment, every contract offer, every draft selection - all of it can no longer be made with the complete impunity the club holds. Simply put North is no longer to be trusted. It is as simple as that.

For the sake of having a balanced and even competition, North cannot continue to make poor decision after poor decision, and continue to lie and bullshit their way through this so called rebuild.

We are embarrassed. We are prideless. We are a joke to our opponents and sadly now - young talent is being caught up in this mess.
As for members, I truly despise the process of waiting for our game to come round on the weekend, only to turn the TV on and see Luke McDonald and Jy Simpkin kicking the footy around or liabilities like Corr and Stephens and Fisher stealing a wage.

It is not time to get serious as a football club. It is time for the league to step in because for years the club has shown itself incapable of doing so.
North cannot be tasked with fixing its own problems. You cannot make the same mistakes over and over again and then declare you will fix it and be part of the solution. No more chances.

Get an independent group in. Well experienced credentialled individuals in who have been part of successful football side and organisations that have achieved the ultimate success. Run a comprehensive audit of the club. Forensically examine all operations and the most important part - hold the final call on any decisions we make off-field. This is the starting point.
Until there is a permanent turnround in results and that may mean a mix of being competitive in matches and actually winning games of football, until the League sees that consistent pattern of being able to compete on a week to week basis - that when you can gradually start to hand over full control and authority back to leaders at the club.
But for now there needs to be an interjection.
You only have to look into our recent past to see the club isn't up to it.

Bards last contract
Rawling
Reeces and Nobles
Walsh audit (did **** all)
Luff

They know they are inept and then seek out the services of Clarko, but by the time he gets here, Brady has ****ed the list beyond repair and not even the master coach can right the ship...

I'm highly doubtful Alastair sees out his contract tbh

We need a board spill and a full external audit by AFL appointed administrators and ex premiership coaches etc

The Bailey Scott OOTF would have been the worst disposal I’ve seen in at least my last 3 seasons playing amateur football.
And to think there was a play worse than that. Stephens running out of bounds so he didnt take a tackle and getting penalized for deliberate. No effort to hand ball under over or around him, no nothing but ship running down his leg.
I dont watch other teams anywhere near as close as i do North, but FFS how on earth didnt a recruiter pick up the squib?

Hurts, man.

  • Synergy between Xerri and mids just is not there.
  • Getting harder to sell the club to our current players, let alone being able to attract any talent to help. Big fears for Zurhaar and LDU.
  • Too many defenders who cannot actually defend.
  • Just lacked the ability to crack into the contest.
  • Chom one of the few that just had a genuine go, hard at every contest and leaves it all out there. Would rather he just settle in defence and get time into him so when Logue comes back we have a solid combo down there.

WHY. WHY. WHY.

THESE LEADERS OF OUR CLUB HAVE PURELY BEEN VOTED IN DUE TO THEM BEING NICE, THAT IS THE LITERAL ONLY REASON BECAUSE THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY L E A D E R S H I P WHAT SO EVER. THEY WOULDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT LEADERSHIP IF IT HIT THEM BY A TRUCK.

I seriously try every single time I post to be positive. At the end of the day everyone contracted to our club is a shinboner and I will back every single one of our players.

It’s exhausting now.
I know it is Ligma and I know that you will hang in there, why, because the club and the players need you and all of our supporters right now! It seems as though the players don't give a rats, but they do more to the point they are probably trying too hard and when your confidence is gone other things follow suit.

Fitness, effort and doing the basic things are what's required but at the moment its like lying down on the beach and then you get transported up a mountain in cold weather and you don't know what's going on or what to do, its all a bit surreal. You are good at what you post, positivity is always a good thing and more so in these dark times, you know for some people its all to easy to jump of the Titanic and say nope its too much, I'm done.

That is the easy way out and from your posting as well as others even before I joined I read many posters and what they had to say, some good some not so good but that's the way it should be but the point I'm making is I have a feeling you'll keep going and stick to it and have the faith {I know it must be wearing thin} and patience can be a tough thing for people to hear as some think its three or four week thing or even a one or two year thing, its not, all circumstances are different and this is a prime example. So chin up girl, and keep doing what you do because it will change even though it looks forlorn at the moment. :)

West coast have turned there form based on some outstanding performances from their leaders, with a couple of young guns!

Meanwhile, Simpkin and McDonald 😂
That is where we suffer the most, apart from a few we recruited we we'd almost no over 25s. The ones we do have and the ones we recruited just arent AFL standard except for Logue, Greenwood (who is past it now) and Simpkin who'd probably be fringe on any other list.

Most people are just venting. Theres ZERO chance i ever jump ship and 99% of others here are the same.

I’m a Formula 1 nerd and was originally feeling conflicted about which sport I was going to watch. It did not stay a difficult choice.

Honestly I just feel nothing. It’s worse than feeling anger or sadness. This is just what I expect now, and I’ve stopped wanting to be part of it.

The club will always have my heart, I can’t let it go completely but I have no desire to even try watching another game this year.
I spent most of the match sitting at Marvel streaming F1 tbh.

Hawks had three small forwards carving us up on scoreboard and applying defensive pressure.
Three!
We haven't recruited one of those types since LT retired!
Opposition defences spoil Larkey and then gather the crumb and launch a scoring foray.
WTF are we doing in last management meetings? Playing UNO?

We have tried to address this somewhat, we just keep picking duds.

Trading out of the draft where Pickett and Weightman went in the first round, was horrendous even by our lofty standards of draft ineptitude.

Calling it now too, very worried about Duursma.

Soft and not a defensive bone in his body.
That's very harsh but its your opinion so fair enough. The kid is in his first year and as a versatile forward has done what I've expected, some very good moments and lots of things to work on, he is a gun and as young forwards take time, patience is needed as in three or four years you'll see for yourself how good he's going to be. With young players the one thing people forget is the one word that is the key, that word is "inconsistency". Zane is the least of our worries at the moment and you can throw all the other youngsters in as well, contrary to popular belief our youngsters are fine, masked over by other things.

The Bailey Scott OOTF would have been the worst disposal I’ve seen in at least my last 3 seasons playing amateur football.
I watched that back on the replay ( yeah, sadist I know) and not to defend that kick but he was looking for Stephens who was running backwards away from Scott instead of running towards the ball carrier and making his job easy. It reeked of a player that did not want the ball and not even close to a professional level of play.

if it was a boxing match l'd have it:
Q1 - 10 to 8 Hawks
Q2 - 10 to 0 Hawks
Q3 - 10 to 9 Hawks
Q4 - 10 to 7 Hawks and game was over.

Watching for the top deck behind the goal, l encourage very supporter to watch this team from there as it's plain as daylight just how bad our defensive positioning is, how many times our own players converge to the contest or fly 3 or 4 up leaving their opponents free, how much space they leave between the man they are defending or guarding, we make defensive switches that is too easy for the oppo to pick the mismatch and only once did you see a forward (Dury) behind the pack when the it inevitably spills past the pack but plenty of hawks defenders.
Biggie had a shocker, too much trying to chance his arm reading the play up front without thinking of his man or playing way too head of his man - either play defensive or ask the coaches to play you forward because that's what he looked like leaving your man.
Nick's got to stop looking for the free, yes there were some that he should have got but you're starting to get a rep of playing for the push out, he and the coaches need to decide if he plays around the 50 mark or lead from the goal square because he's not a lead out forward and rather plays going back to square.
Sellers, poor bloke, didn't have the confidence to demand the ball so he just lead when Larkey leads...in fact our forwards do a better job of spoiling each other than any defender.
Duursma needs to go to the VFL and get his touches and goals, been saying it for weeks, playing an 18yo in a role that our mids look to Larkey, Zuurhar and Ford is not giving him any confidence at all.
McKercher, has to play on the wings or , like Duursma, go to the VFL play in his natural position and get his touches - if we use this kid properly, he could be Judd like because his burst is a weapon.

At the end of this match, we can blame the players but this coaching team has to take the heat and must come up with a simple and defensive plan because a high press is not working and this is the 4th game in a row that we have conceded 70pts before 1/2 time and usually it's racked up in one quarter of football called the 2nd quarter.

Some poster in this thread said whose idea was it to build midfield out, well that was the plan from end of 2019 to 2022, 2023 was the first draft that we only took 1 mid and the rest KPP or med fwd or HBF.

All those calling for players to be dropped...an bring in who?
Strange thing is, Zuurhar drops a mark 20 out directly in front which wouldve had us 4 goals down. They run up other end and goal. Then Larkey misses from lucky free kick and they run it down other end for a goal. We couldve been 3 goals down with plenty of time to spare, instead the lead blew out to 7 goals.

So who’s the likely no.1 draft pick this year? … well actually no.7 when all the father sons / academy’s get taken up first?
I would probably say as of April, between Sid Draper, Josh Smillie and Finn O'Sullivan, long way to go though!

It’s painfully clear there are people in important roles who aren’t up to the task of enforcing the required standards of an elite football side.

Both on and off field.
