Unsure if this is the right thread, but, whatever.
Josh Rotham..I was very happy early days. Saw a player there.
With the way the squad was this year he had jobs playing on KPF monsters.
Kinda seemed like he'd given up before ball is bounced against Curnow etc. Don't like that.
Contracted for at least nest year, I think.
Can't help thinking there is still a player there.
Running HBF, maybe wing, who knows?
Reckon he needs some confidence in himself, and that's on the club. He never plays confident anymore..see holding play and kicking backwards.
Scared of stuffing up.
Hope he can get the support if it hasn't already happened. Self belief.
Maybe the horse has bolted already. Sad, if true. Had high hopes.
Edit Loved his commitment going back with the flight and getting smashed whatever game that was late season.
( I'm trying to blank out 2023 season, if youre Reiding me correctly)

Worst. Poem. Ever.

Don’t love this move as he has a conflict of interest. In other words, he might not want to delist players he’s drafted.
Maybe. I don't think that's always a bad thing either. Like the poem says Rotham had promise and there is no point in going to the draft just to get the same player only without the years of experience and education.

No mention of Luke Webster leaving despite reports Knights was replacing him as forwards coach. You’d think he’d get an acknowledgment if he was leaving

So he’s either going to the backline to replace Pratt or taking over the WAFL side

Good Lord. He should have been out years ago.

Any chance Shuey is given the WAFL Coaching position?
Heard last night from the uncle of a good friend of Shuey's who came over from Melbourne for his last game (no really) that he will be staying at the club. My friend is not a football person and didn't know what job he'd be doing.
WAFL coach is a possibility I guess.

Is your good friend Harley Reid and did the uncle mention anything about the Ben McKay compo pick?

Probably too soon to be coaching a team in his own right - senior WAFL coaches are pretty experienced and have had considerable time working up to a senior position

More likely he starts out as a midfield development coach or I could mount an argument for him to be a dedicated skills coach

Daniel Rich for a coaching job?

This is just purely an opinion in regards to development coaches.

I think first and foremost they need to be good communicators.
Secondly I think they need to have overcome adversity in their careers.
For West Coast I think it's also important that they have a strong understanding (or have experienced) having made the move from interstate to a club and then stayed the journey.
They need to have held a senior leadership position as a player.
I think they need to have got the absolute most out of their natural ability.
This is less important but I think it's relatively important they have tasted success at the highest level.
Another less important option are players who got as much out of themselves but have been cut down by injury so can relate that preparation is not only important but if you don't do everything in your power in regards to rehabilitation it can all be over very quickly.

I think David Mundy would be a great option if we look outside of West Coast.
I think Luke Shuey would be a great option if we stay in house. The only question mark is in regards to his relationship with the current players however I think if it's purely development of young players he'd be an amazing asset.
I think Josh Kennedy (Sydney via Hawks) would be a great option if available.

These are just a few of the guys I would have on my shortlist and however there are many more. I think it's integral to the future that when you are a rebuilding club you invest heavily in player development. All the talent in the world is meaningless unless you can push players to become the best they can be and help them to drive standards.

It's why although I don't think Ginbey will be a star player he will be a very good player for us but he absolutely will drive standards on the track for other youngsters to follow. I think his drive will help get the best out of Hewett, Reid and others.

I thought Ginbey actually spoke really well when he got his award at the B&F the other night as well.
Going to be a great influence for the Young mid group.
Another name you could throw up for development Coach would be Priddis.

I suspect they held off hoping Simmo might have become available.
My suspicions also as I wouldn’t be surprised if that was why so many over there in the east were pushing for Simmo to either be axed or to leave of his own accord - as they were just so disappointed when this didn’t happen lol.

An actual positive step towards addressing the injury carnage - Yeo, McGovern and Hedwards heading to a whizz-bang facility in Qatar.

Boys come back.
