Season 37 - Fighting Furies

Well this is somewhat unfortunate timing with the announcement of omgfridge's retirement this morning. The Furies were led in posting by James Colorado (42.0), ShaunDuggan (25.3), Frederico_WA (17.9, but didn't post after Round 8), omgfridge (15.1) and crazywildhorse (12.6) with Frothies Mcveigh (10.9) also reaching the 10ppw mark. In nearly all metrics however, the Furies were the weakest list in the league in Season 37 despite a promising start where they had 17 posters in Round 1. After Round 10, they reached ten posters just once.

The Furies lost Bovo to the Bombers and delisted Brick Loosener so he could head to the Gumbies but weren't able to find a consistent poster coming back the other way, with the Old Boys' The Cryptkeeper posting fifteen times in four threads across the season.

JC had the second highest share of posts of any poster in the league, doing a lot of heavy lifting for the Furies especially in the latter half of the season. You can see that the list quickly falls away with their 8th to 10th ranked posters contributed 4.4%, or 91 posts, to their overall tally.

1717035309343.png

It's been a steady decline for the Furies since Season 34 but this season was the biggest drop yet in terms of total output, averaging only 145 posts per week.

1717035447944.png

And after something of a revival last season in terms of participants, they also dropped to a four season low of 10.7 posters per match thread.

1717035591102.png

Potentially the most alarming statistic is that throughout their decline over the last three seasons, they had at least managed to retain the same number of 'active' posters. But this dropped by a third in Season 37.

The Hawks went back to their roots in Season 37 in a bid to revitalise their list and succeeded. Two new recruits in Tarkyn_24 (74.0ppw) and Strigoi (52.7) topped their posting tally with Callums_Guns (40.1), the recently retired Tadpole (aka Rankine2Rachele) (37.3) and TY24 (32.3) rounding out the top 5. They had nine posters average at least 20 posts a week, the second best club in the league for that metric, but it did fall away a bit beyond that. It was also a bit of a 'Jekyll and Hyde' season for posting, starting the season strong but falling away in the back end.

Along with the rebrand back to the Hawks came an aggressive recruitment drive aimed at bringing back former scorned East Siders who weren't happy with the switch to the Phoenix. The club did really well in this regard, and more than replaced the outgoings of DemurePrincess, thewizardmelon and Jhye Clark 13 to rival clubs with Tarkyn_24 and Strigoi becoming the two most active posters at the Eyrie. The returning boncer34 was also a major contributor along with Biggie, Loonerty and larrikin and these four former club legends combined for a total of 35.3 posts per week. The Hawks will be happy to have picked up Giant Strides as a rookie who contributed in 75% of their match threads this season.

East Side didn't have a single poster over 20% in the distribution and with their nine >20ppw posters, it's a raft of fairly even contributors outside of Tarks and Strigs. The players outside of the top 10 made up 7.7% of their posting but with such a dramatic list change this is something that will likely improve as they continue to rebuild.

View attachment 2004552

As you can see, the Hawks reaped the rewards of their strategy by reversing a three-season decline and jumping up 43% from their Season 36 total.

View attachment 2004559

Their drop in participation had been more alarming in seasons prior and this was again reversed in Season 37, on average attracting 3.7 more posters to each match thread across the 16 games.

View attachment 2004563

And finally another jump in terms of active posters, but not as significant as the total - so for the Hawks a lot of their growth has come simply from posters turning up, at least for a post or two.
I can’t believe all the stats for this imaginary football league Qooty. :laughv1:
But it is interesting, nonetheless.

Season 37 - Gold City Royals
big icky productions logo small.png
1717052149098.png

The Royals claimed the minor premiership on-field but off-field were the fourth least-active club in the league for Season 37, led by Cadsky with 61.9ppw and Brenton Davy who was just shy of the 50ppw mark. Rounding out their top five were GreyCrow (33.8), grumbleguts (30.2) and Footypie32 (27.6), and they had a total of 11 posters averaging at least 10 posts per week. Perhaps benefitting from the finals fervour, they had 17 participants in their last home & away game of the season.

1717052612330.png

The Royals cleared some deadwood over the off-season and brought in five posters who all contributed at some point in the season. The returning Footypie32 was their best recruit, sitting fifth at the club for total posting, and Zevon continued to be a consistent poster after crossing from the Roys. They also landed two active rookies in Nothing and Pedro.

gcr.png

Exactly 10% of their posts came from outside the top 10 which shows a healthy distribution among the bit-part posters. Cadsky clocked in at just under 20% of the total and you can see there's a relatively even spread from GreyCrow down to Zevon. A good core has been assembled.

1717052937007.png

Total posting volume was marginally up in Season 37 compared to last, but still down on a peak in Season 35.

1717053098614.png

It's a similar story for participants, a slight bump on Season 36 levels but still a ways to go to get back to their best.

Tweaking the formula to 5 posts per week gives us pretty much identical results to the previous two graphs when it comes to Season 35-37 levels.

The true victims of the OOB expansion. 😢

Thanks mate. Good to.see it was up from last season, if only marginally. We will continue to work on improving our list with the hope it continues in the right direction next season.

You people really have to stop confusing activity with captivation. Or else you get, you know, the bombers.
