Yeah, certainly won't hurt our chances of getting another bidder.

Can see St Kilda going hard at trade week 1 more time to try and get a flag before their window shuts if it isn't already.

I just see what they have to offer, they have no high draft picks, they wont trade any of their top 10 players as they carry so much of the workload and after that it thins away pretty quickly

Their first round draft pick is before your Bock compo pick if I'm not mistaken.

I really don't get the Bling thing.

Has he fallen out with the club??

Is he stuffed and the operation failed??

If not, he has proven to have top quality potential when fit. Worth way more than what we'll get for him. On the down hill skier thing, in 2009 he was often the only guy running, presenting and taking the game on for us. He might be ready to explode if fit. But he is so reliant on his athleticism that if not fit he is just a bit player.

No one is saying anything abour why all these rumours are happening, which is a bit weird. Usually you find out what the driver for someone leaving is. Does anyone know what's going on?

I'm only speculating here but it may have something to do with team structure, our back 6 looks almost settled.

Newman - McGuane/Gourdis - Farmer
Deledio - Astbury/Post - Connors

I know Farmer has his doubters but this kid will be a long term player for us, we saw what he was capable of once we started to become more competitive, he provided a lot of run and defensively IMO he did fine after the treacherous start where we went 0-9 he played well for 6 or so games he got a injury came back played a couple more and was then sent in for surgery.

We also have Grimes and Rance who are still developing, Obviously the FB/CHB positions are no lock atm and most likely will come down to who DH and co think will hold there position for the next 10+ years.

Tambling had his best year playing in the back line in 2009 and as it is there really isn't a spot available for him, his only other options are Midfield/Wing/Forward, DH tried him on the HFF and it was disastrous to say the least, also taking into account his injuries which wouldn't have helped a whole lot.

Midfield I can't see him breaking into anytime soon.

Wing we have Edwards and Morton and are looking at acquiring either Houli or Sherman, Sherman IMO would do a better job then Tambling only because of his line breaking capabilities and he kicks goals.

Trade him and get a pick 14-25 Range or hold onto him in the hope that he comes good, at first I was of the opinion of holding onto him but the more I think about it Trading him will be a win - win situation for both club and player.

Jackson confirmed several clubs were interested in contracted midfielder Richard Tambling, with the Adelaide Crows among them.

"I've had a chat to them and the possibility [of a trade] and we'll see what comes and what eventuates at the end of the day," he said.

"There's plenty of to-ing and fro-ing at the moment, so obviously you need to strike that healthy balance before something eventuates."

Tambling has been in talks with Adelaide with The Australian reporting the Crows could on-trade their compensatory pick for losing Nathan Bock to seal the deal.

Comes at the end of the first, if we use it in this draft or next the best pick number it will be is #26.

If we wait until 2012 it should be around the 17-18 mark.

If no other team uses a compensatory pick this year, it's 26.

If you wait until 2012 the lowest it can be is pick #19 - there will be 18 teams to make a first round pick, remember. Plus it can be shifted out when Geelong use their Ablett compensation, because one of the two picks they will get is immediately after their normal first rounder; if they use it before 2012, it they only get two end of first rounders.

Our pick will also come before or after the picks earned by Brisbane and the Bulldogs, if they use them in the same season, the order depending on final ladder position as per usual.

I'm fairly certain the pick also comes before any end of first round priority picks that may have been awarded in that season.

would be bloody crazy not to bank it until 2012
I would be wary of getting a pick that is dictated by others.
I think that is selling Bling short.
I am warming to Grigg, but PSD for mine.
Bling is required for mine. I still want to see him tried in that smal forward spot.

Bling played up forward in parts this year and was hopeless, Tugga. Dunno where you're getting this crazy idea from. Doesn't have the footy smarts to be a small forward. Doesn't get to the right spots.

His best position is as a freewheeling, unaccountable HBF'er/wing and we already have better players there. Maybe we could shift some players around to fit him in but not too surprised we're hearing what offers are there for him.

Our compensation pick is 29 if used this year. Wait a couple of years and it could be 18-22.

And how do you think we feel? Imagine if the GC werent around, would Bock for Tambling be a fair trade?

He hasn't been tried as small forward for any length of time.
Has excellent goal sense, kicks goals from awkward situations. Good hands too.
could see him becoming a Leon Davis type player when Leon was good (and he was good for a few years).

Think you're holding onto false hope there. Can't see as a small forward let alone any type of forward. Doesn't have the skill or X-factor of your typical indigenous forward ala Cyril Rioli. Think his last resort was in the backline in that freewheeling HBF role or even BP but looks like he's gone now.

Silly comparing him to Rioli, who is a freak of a footballer.
Agree he looks like he is gone. At least then we can be rid of the whole debacle tha initially took place oin draft day.

Was more of a comparision to a common trait that a lot of indigenous players/forwards have such as blistering pace, great agility, ability to weave magic, etc. Tambling may of had it as a junior but I've seen little of it since that first NAB Cup game.

Considering he played all his footy in the NT which is hardly a great standard, I fail to see how our club arrived at the conclusion he was a champion junior. All it did in my eyes was enforce a simple rule, stay away from NT, QAFL or NSWRL kids unless they demand to be picked through their rep games and if you are going to pick a kid away from the TAC Cup, then stick with the WAFL or SANFL.

He's been marked from the start has Bling, regarded by Michael Long as a junior as having the possibility of becoming the best Indigenous player to come out of the territory and then the Buddy draft choice comparision - he's been on a hiding to nothing.

He has had a similar progression that Wells has suffered from as well - Goddard suffered the same, but of course he is now regarded as one of the best in the comp.

I've always had hope for Bling, but if we can get a decent pick for him in a compromised draft then I'm all for it.

I hope a deal can be worked out for him, whether that be to us or elsewhere, though I'd like it to be us.

Just really seems as though a change, or team, or even state, would do him some good.

First of all can I just say that Richmond fans are FAR more realistic and reasonable when discussing proposed trades than the tripe I have witnessed from Carlton fans over the last 3 weeks!

If the deal gets done for the Bock pick, I guess you guys would have to weigh up leaving it for a few years and using it when it is around 18/19 or taking a kid with 27 in this draft, and having the extra 2 years of development in him.

If you go by the theory that draftees take about 2 years* before making an impact, waiting to use the pick means 4 years before seeing any output.

*give or take.

That is just a given Gets! CFC fans are in meltdown atm and it is delicious to watch lol

In regards to Richie off to adelaide, to me the Bock compo pick seems alot like we would be losing out if we did that asa straight swap, to come out fair i reckon would be Richie + 3rd rounder for Bock compo pick and 2nd rounder!

Adelaide get bling and slide a couple places effectivley from the mid 2nd round to early 3rd and we get 2 picks that if were used this year would be around 26/29 and 34/36!

Does that sound fair to both parties?
