The mind boggles
Didn’t play one attacking shot in either innings, was out twice and dropped for a grand total of 11 runs, I would back myself to do better, at the very, very least if he plays he bats at 5, blind Freddy can see he should be dropped, but they won’t drop him, the selectors have to prove themselves right you see.If he isn’t dropped we are in deep trouble because nobody who watched the second innings could reasonably come to the conclusion Warner should play this test. He was abmysal. Close to one of the worst test innings I have seen from a top order batsman.
The poster you are quoting did then clarify they did want Warner dropped still, the post wasn't referencing Warner specifically, it seemed more general.OK, even excluding just David Warners top score of 200, and his 5 lowest scores of 0,0,0,1,1
Over his last 30 innings he averages a grand total of 27.16.
Is that acceptable to you for an opening batsman?
Not saying he played well, but he actually hit two good boundaries just before getting out. After going a bit more attacking for those two boundaries, he then decided to go defensive again and as we all know, got out playing defensively.Didn’t play one attacking shot in either innings, was out twice and dropped for a grand total of 11 runs, I would back myself to do better, at the very, very least if he plays he bats at 5, blind Freddy can see he should be dropped, but they won’t drop him, the selectors have to prove themselves right you see.
Head at #3 and likely second spinner, AB you are kidding. Green batting #7. Bit of an insult to a man with (FC) @48. Three quicks and a single spinner as nowhere in this universe is Head @61 (FC) a fair replacement for a man who took 12 on debut. I do like that AB wants Hazlewood (if fit) in the attack as he has a 6for in India and is a smarter bowler than in 2017.
Geoff Marsh still has the strangest shadow batting story, imo.I dunno that video of him shadow batting in the hotel room was pretty odd. The way he acts and talks I strongly suspect he is on the spectrum. But good luck to him.
Going to be interesting to see how quickly all the people that have been up in arms about Head's omission turn on him when he fails and everyone remembers why he averaged 15 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and that he won't be the saviour. Hope I am wrong but I can't seen him having any significant impact, he's always looked a bit of a lost cause against decent spin and I struggle to see him turning that around against like like of Ashwin and Jadeja.

"Marsh is perhaps one of the few people who has ever managed to embarrass David Boon. The two were opening partners for years, and also shared rooms when on tour. Boon related the story of how he once awoke to see Marsh shadow-practicing his technique — while wearing only his birthday suit!
Marsh later said in an interview, "I was naked but I had my baggy green on, which was something...It is just what you do; You get up in the morning and you grab a bat and look at yourself in the mirror. It just so happened that I did not have anything on.""

Just adds to a bit more argy bargy I reckon, we'll all see the pitch today anyway, won't change what it is (or isn't)
I’ll be sure to quote these if we ever get accused of doctoring a pitch. Big damp patch with extra grass at the Gabba on Starcs off stump line to the right hander - they should just pick left handersWe have ourselves to blame and that’s where I blame Lyon massively. If he bowls leg stump darts this test, drop the bloke next test. Last chance bowl at off stump not leg!
Probably depends on a few factors, not least confidence you can bat big in your first innings. Is batting first always the preferred option in India?
Plenty on here were calling for ‘horses for courses’ style selection, plenty of the same had a melt down when we did just that. Head will be fine.I think you are missing the point. It wasn't so much about Head's contribution.
It sent a terrible message to the team around inconsistency of selection and confirmed with our opposition how spooked we were before the first ball.

And Boland it seems will be dropped, does not deserve to be.Cummins says Starc is the 'world's premier' bowler in these conditions.
His bowling average in India is 50.

Another doctored 'jekyll & hyde' pitch. Grassy middle, bare ends. Doubts about this being as volatile as Nagpur as they are using a different soil for this track. Still has again been set up to cater to their master spinning duo and further embarrassment for our bats. Hoping that is not the case as this match we take the contest to India.

Boland seems to be the only bowler in that squad that can keep the run rate down and even pick up wickets.Played his part when he bowled a spell with Murphy who got I think 3 wickets.got a game because of injuries to others. He'll get dropped if Starc is fit or they go with 3 spinners.
If starc isnt fit and they go with 2 spinners he'll play
