There's a real balance with "horses for courses", I would say dropping a bloke who is in great form doesn't fall under this.
Except just prior to the summer, on Asian wickets, he was awful. It was a harsh call, but it was horses for courses. The problem is people do t really want that, they want to speculate about how well the player they like who wasn’t picked would’ve done in the match - funnily enough, always better than the selected player, every time.

Yeah let's forget the summer when he averaged shitloads. And if we're forgetting the summer and judging on Asian pitch form Warner goes too.

And I was saying it was a ridiculous decision when it was made anyway as were a lot of people, Renshaw failing only made it worse, I certainly didn't form my opinion on that outcome.

That will be the team minus Head imo. Renshaw will have one more match to prove himself.
Reckon they'll go with three tweakers/two quicks, like they should have in Nagpur. My money still on Agar as with such a long tail he provides the probability of much needed late runs.
Warner picked on pure sentiment. He has run out of chips now.

Again, I think you are missing the point about the overall message to the opposition and the team, not so much about if Trav would have scored runs.

No issue with the decisions (Head dropped/Warner retained) on there own. But in combination they make no sense. "we have applied 'horses for courses' and dropped Head based on asian form. But we haven't applied the same criteria for Warner, even though Head's recent form has been far superior".

Personally I would play Boland in Cummins place but Lyon bowled poorly last test as well.Dropping Cummins is more likely 3rd test if he and team perform badly. When was the last time we dropped our captain during a test series.

I can't recall it, vice captain dropped a couple times though, Steve Waugh dropping Warne the most public one.

Your realistic team not sure they would play 2 pace man/2 spinners and Green.Handscomb needed to strengthen the batting.

If you want horses for courses you’re going to drop some inform players from time to time. If you don’t want that, then fine, you don’t want horses for courses - a valid opinion.

I’m not missing any point, I understand what you are saying, I just don’t agree with it.

lyon been poor for few years now, time for new crew take over after next few series, same as Warner, impossible for any NSW players to get dropped
