Can someone fill me in on Stringer? Isn't he a 191cm forward? We've got a few of those already so he must be pretty good if people want him.

#12 St Kilda - Jake Stringer (VIC - Util)
Height: 191cm, Weight: 91kg, DOB: 25/04/1994
Recruited from: Bendigo Pioneers
Style: Luke Hodge
Player comparison:
Range: 5-25
Profile: Stringer is probably the best talent in the draft and had it not been for a broken leg this season I would probably have him at no.1. Comes from a basketball background. Hard worker. Hasn’t really dominated games this year the way he has in the past and after his sickening broken leg of last year it’s just great to see him playing footy again. Stringer’s conditioning isn’t nearly where it was pre-injury and doesn’t seem to have his trademark explosiveness and leaping ability back yet and the endurance is nowhere near where it was but what’s encouraging is that he is still attacking the ball as hard as ever and working as hard as he can to impose himself on games. The feature I’ve always loved in Stringer’s game is his ability to play anywhere and just change the game with his attack on the ball and sheer will. With Stringer the versatility is a great asset and when he gets his fitness back he will be able to play through the midfield, forward or back to a high level. Wins the hard ball consistently and is a very good inside player to go along with his outside running ability which we have seen in the past. Ball use good by both hand and foot. Very strong mark overhead and can hit the scoreboard hard when shifted forward and with his limited fitness this year has mostly had to play up forward. Stringer has star potential but needs to get his athleticism and conditioning back first before we see him back at his best which will take some time. Has great leadership potential and looks likely to be a guy who leads from the front at AFL level.
5. Western Bulldogs - Jake Stringer (191cm forward - Bendigo)
I think everyone likes Stringer and hopes he does well this year. Coming off the injuy he had, it's a credit to him that he is even back playing this year. The kid was not only playing but starring in the TAC Cup as a 16 year old. His first three games in the TAC Cup this year were quite remarkable - 10.6 from 23 disposals, 4.6 from 20 disposals and 0.3 from 31 disposals. He still isn't back to his best and has been managed through some of his more recent games, which seems the smart move. He is just so strong, both in marking contests and when the ball is on the ground. His game against the Knights was Pavlich-esque. And his first few years in the AFL will probably be like that - strong marking forward, who pushes up into the midfield at times. If he does get back to 100% fitness, then I think he'll be every bit as good as Dustin Martin in the midfield. Did I mention that I'm a fan? AFL Comparison: Matthew Pavlich.
BJ update, 4 years $950K, 'unofficial offer'......from Essendon.
So who/what do we do with picks 12 and 13? Package them for a top 5-8 pick? Would love to get Menzel junior or Caddy. We need to load up in every position, although Menzel may be a risk as word is he has re-injured his LARS surgery knee.
I can if they made a verbal agreement or promise and then reneged on it. There have been times in my business when I have made an agreement with someone, but then wished I hadn't, as a better offer had since come through, but I would stick with the agreement I had made, even if I could do better by going back on my word, because without your word you are nothing.
Nope, it's for this draft and this draft only with FAIsnt the compensation pick for losing a player in the next draft (2013)?? if so there will be nothing this year for BJ if we lose him

I think the compensation picks for free agency are to be used this year and can't be carried over.
And if you in tern take a FA player you get your compo pick downgraded or taken away.
So if you have a player poached , you then can't get the player you planned on poaching without losing your compo pick. But if you dont have a player poached you can get player without losing anything.
It then begs the question whether another club can poach a player then on-trade him.
10 quality mids in there... All of them have huge upside for us. Question is do we take best mid and best KP available...Plowman if he's there? Shaw? Jakach?...what if Grundy slides?[/quote][quote="aussierulesrules, post:
Something like that would be a pretty good result for us I reckon. We could get two rippers at 12/13.[/ GC make
.
Which players do you think would be worth doing that for?I like the idea of a ceiling on all player payments, it will allow us to build a nice deep list.
We need more mids and kpp, in fact we need everything! IMO there are 8 top quality players in this draft, guys you would bank on, so we are just outside where we need to be, hence packaging the potential 2 picks to move up in the draft NBA style works.
Would love Jimmy Toumpas, but we won't get him, so any of Grundy, Plowman, Stringer or Menzel. Having said that, i would trade both picks for Josh Kelly in the mini draft or one of them for Brad Couch's younger brother Matt.Which players do you think would be worth doing that for?

And the plot thickens! If that is what we are offering, it would be unbelievable list mismanagement on our behalf.
I do hope we get him, but I don't think our offer would be superior enough to yours to make him leave.
I still think he'll stay FWIW, but I think you'll end up paying him 700k for 3 years.

Highest paid player at the club and possible captaincy? We can't do much more I think.....

Some people love to knock Roo, and question whether he is deserving of captaincy or not, but this is yet another thing that proves them wrong. Sure, this was organised years ago, so it's not like Roo is sacrificing a lot of pay, but you can bet that he wouldn't hesitate taking a pay cut if it benefited the team.On ya Roo
Should have tanked.
