The only bubble that exists is the one you reside in. If you haven’t been paying attention. Grundy is organizing his affairs and will end up elsewhere come 2023. So Grundy making us better will never be realized.

Fly played the straight bat beautifully…..

Responding with your wish list, doesn’t change the facts in my post.

Will be a salary dump at best unfortunately.
We either find someone to take on the whole contract with no other compensation or we pay a few hundred k $ of his contract and get a late first/ second round pick back our way.
Like Grundy, but realistically it was a terrible contract for the club in hindsight.

So we have another Trade Period where we are Worse then when it Started?

I see Grundy's 'I will not be defined by a premiership' is still a topic of conversation.

I'm not surprised that some choose to dwell on such an irrelevant piece of the past, but I do reckon that it's a bit sad.

The fact that people can't identify his attitude as anything other than a healthy perspective on life (especially to things beyond his control) is boggling.

When you compare it to the captain who says he wants to win another premiership before he retires it shows a clear gulf in the attitude of the skipper and the teams highest paid player.

Didn't realise Grundy said he didn't want to win a flag. Please point me to that quote :)

Lose Grundy, gain Taranto, keep JDG and the club is far stronger than it started. Add in a key defender and we’d be laughing all the way to the flag!!!

LOL - even Clarkson has said there’s more to life than Football/ Premierships.
So using your logic, Grundy shares the same attitude as the greatest Coach in a generation.

It might be 'the business', but it's poor form nonetheless. I think this would be an incredibly poor move, both on and off field. I hope the club is prepared for any consequences this can have in the locker-room.

What? Like the consequences of moving on Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips. 18 months on we are sitting 2nd on the ladder. Sometimes you need to understand what needs to be done and execute it.

It also led to the coach and the club hierarchy losing the team, and having to be gutted.

We are 2nd because we brought the right people in. Not because we sent the right people out.

Just remind me again when we can expect Grundy to play another game this season. Or matter of fact the next. They’re the only facts that you have left.

Because if he is being sent on his way at seasons end. Then that’s exactly the value that is being placed on him by Fly.

Not the delusion you’ve created in your own head.

Whatever it is that makes you sleep better at night. No matter how it is explained. You’ll come up with your own reality.

Just know this. No matter how many times you post, opposing what people are saying on here towards the Grundy situation. It won’t change that he will be gone at years end.

And that decision wasn’t made because people at the club read message boards and fly off the handle making absurd decisions. Based on what you or I think.

The decisions are made for the betterment of the club and team. Like them or not.

I know why the decisions are made. The disagreement stems from whether they are the correct ones. It's not a hard thing to understand, I would have assumed.

When you are the “ greatest” coach in a generation with 4 flags hanging on your billiard room wall , one is afforded that luxury , he has the flags on the board. Nothing to prove

I think it is a combination of both. If he was a better player his contract value would not be an issue.

While his contested work when ball is on the ground is beyond question, his main weaknesses are:
  • very poor contested mark for his size.
  • average at best tap ruckman
  • poor as link player as his normally slows play down

Do you think Geelong, Melbourne or any other club are going to pay Grundy what we are paying him? That is the issue.
I think he'll be a star player again if he gets to the right team with the right game plan.

Not too sure you really do. Do I need to go back through the postings 18 months ago, you would have put up during the Treloar and others saga.

Or just based on your current stance regarding the Grundy situation is ample evidence to suggest the contrary.

I’m trying to explain to you that neither yours nor my opinion is even considered.

That one of us will be right and the other wrong only shows the level of understanding of where we are currently at. And where we need to go. Nostalgic revisionism serves no purpose.

I don't give a **** whether or not my opinion is considered by the club. A discussion forum is not a novel concept. Not sure what has given you the idea that BigFooty thinks of itself as a space for club consultancy.

You are more than welcome to go see what I posted about Treloar.

You once again display a lack of appreciation for any nuance. I acknowledge that the Grundy contract is undesirable. I acknowledge that it may be straining our cap (making a liar of Mark Anderson). I still believe we are best served by having Grundy in our side. Nuance, little Ronnie. Try it some time.

The way some have turned on Grundy is disappointing.

Nobody is happy with a contract that is hanging around the club's neck like an albatross, but please stop hating on the guy.

The posters who imagine that he has taken advantage of the club have already stated as much. No point repeating it, it doesn't make it truer.

If this is how this thread continues it will be locked like it was in the past.

Keep it classy.

Good Luck with that Mods

Lots of IF’s in your post but no facts.

A "Star" player doesn't lean on excuses.

A "Star" player lifts a team - that's why they are called a star.

He used to be one but for sure lets give him a crutch to lean on.
Pete Sampras never won a French open. Star player whose strengths weren't suited to the game plan needed to win at Roland Garros.
