One thing that pissed me off was our boys going hard at the contest when we’re 72 points up with 10 mins to go.

Selwood got a corkie from Zuthrie (hard enough to even make him grimace and feel at his quad). Danger copped some heat on his already strapped elbow. Bews copped a knock to his already-strapped shoulder. Won’t result in them being unable to play next week, but enough to result in small niggles turning into something painful enough to influence their impact in the GF.

Seriously- we should have been having 5 on the interchange bench through the last 10 mins of that game and telling everyone to not go too hard.

Impossible to not watch it live.
Got home from work at 845pm and my wife said "you're missing something good here".
Watched the second half live, and then the whole match again twice. I have seen every morsel of play.
Nobody will mention the deft Cam Guthrie tap-ons and link work he does, but they were on display last night as well.
Difficult to sleep even after going to bed after 0200 saturated by footy- spent the night before watching the 07, and 11 GF highlights.
I don't want to put the moz on us, but we really are a great combo of 07 and 11 the way we moved the ball yesterday, and scored, while stopping Lions from scoring.

Some of that ball movement reminded me of the glory days.

Holmes is officially rated the best wingman in the AFL over the last 2 months.
He has now become a match-winner, crucial to our attacking system.

He is and im not disputing that. I was talking purely on output vs role difficulty and sdk has the most difficult role of all of our young players and is doing it so well.

Just reported on SEN Crunchtime that rumors of Menegola being a disgruntled player were untrue. Apparently, he had gastro last week, so he trained indoors and kept away from the group. He was still named as an emergency, so yesterday, he drove to the MCG and sat in his car in the carpark (to keep away from the group) until it was clear he wouldn't be called up, then drove home. What a clubman.

Good bloke. Thats the attitude we want. Hopefully hes 100 %this week if needed in case of injury.

The way he even sat there in the last quarter trying to ruin geelong fans enjoyment by carrying on with a smile in his voice the possibility of all these hypothetical injuries occurring to our players. Just on Holmes. Could he have played on last night if necessary with a little help? I get there was no need. Given how fresh we are with two weeks off and a pretty soft prelim I could see it as a risk worth taking. Would obviously need to get through Thursday and pull up well. But having our midfield group add an extra 5-15 percent game time is hardly the end of the world when there’s no next week to worry about. Just my 2c

Just on the Guthrie tap ons- so many of the team were doing that stuff- they were so in sync - it’s beautiful to watch. Was actually lovely to be able to sit back, reasonably relaxed and appreciate the artistry of the team as the game wore on.

I am obsessed with JK’s game last night. What a beast. He was actually dominant. Not just reliable. Dominant!

Also I didn’t realise how good Close has become. His wheels and pressure acts give the team a different look. Love the long sleever too.

Danger was the best man out there from the start. Physically irrepressible.

Just an under the radar super efficient game from Duncan.

Selwood with the best 12 touch game I’ve seen in a while.

Devastated for Holmes. Love who he’s become as a player.

You guys picked it well during the week.

This result proves many things, mainly that I have no idea how good we are.
More importantly, we are the best team in it this year, and throroughly deserve to be in the GF and to win it.

The only negative for me was Holmes- who wears that #9 really well- and could be missed if a true Hammy.
The positives were overwhelming.

ALL the fears I had about:

• the second bye- we were as fresh and hungry as possible
• Charlie Cameron- Jed Bews was fantastic
• Hipwood McStay, and Joe Daniher- KOLO proved why I have always rated his importance to our team, DeKoning was scarily cool and good, and I loved the CS tactic of putting Stanley in defence at times when Blicavs rucked.-
• Neale- another perfect masterful coaching display- although Neale had many possessions, he was always hassled by the rotation of our stoppers on him.

It's a beautiful prospect of studying our next opposition, and watching them maul each other.

I'm rapt that this GF will hopefully see our Guthrie brothers be the successful brothers next week. Will it be against the McCartin brothers or the Daicos brothers?

Holmes, easily

Tells you how good he is- because the others (including Close and Miers are hers).

He’s just an animal. Not sure how he levelled up from a first year player to someone who is as good as either of the Daicos brothers in my opinion. He’s just not as famous and might not be an accumulator, but he wins one on one contests better and impacts play as significantly.

I enjoyed the pregame atmosphere, and the small fireworks and lights for each goal added to it nicely.
The music I can take or leave, usually I'm too busy still cheering and celebrating the goal to really notice, but it DOES add to the atmosphere without being intrusive.

The music post-goals adds to the atmosphere like a tyre fire adds to the atmosphere.

I really hope with Holmes, if he isn't right, I hope he pus his hand up nd says I'm not going to be right to play ( which I think he will ) as its not like a ankle or knee or a shoulder where a injection can help at a joint related injury, but a muscle and a injection is not as effective
