Can't agree...Jackson's influence on the game dwarfed Stanley's effort. Stewart ran a hundred metres to give Stanley an almighty spray I think in the second quarter. Obviously our VC wasn't enamoured by Rhy's effort.

Stanley was ordinary...to be fair he wasn't the worst but nowhere near my top 5...
Stewart needed a mirror! He was the last person who should be delivering sprays today!

Menegola would come in if holmes is proppy.

Bews for bowes maybe though you can play with a broken finger.

Sav or ceglar for blitz (either way it buggers our structure).

Either neale for hawk if we go like for like or dempsey if we go smaller.
Id love to give Neale a go.

Pretty much. Even if we sneak into finals structurally we cant replace him. Either we go with ceglar and stanley (which means stanley plays fwd which i dont like) or sav comes back in and henry or sdk become the 2nd ruck. Either way our midfield is weakened we have no like for like structure replacement.

Plus the hawkins issue with cameron proppy also.

Here lies the craftiness of Scott praising up Sav, in case we imploded.

6 Geelong games this season decided by 2 goals or less. 5 losses, 1 draw.

Usually we're pretty good in those close games and a positive differential has probably carried us to top 4 at times.

Turn just 3 of those into wins and we'd actually we top 4, but unfortunately we have been found wanting in the decisive moments this season.

A spray comes from a perception of doing soemthing wrong in a single play. Its hardly an argument about his overall game.

Good perspective.

I reckon what makes those games the results they are is it’s been so hard to steady in the clutch moments when you get beaten like a tsunami out of the middle… it puts a lot of pressure on all your other structures to hold.

Stanley was one of our best - he beat Jackson but our 'rovers' are sub-par, though Bruhn again showed he will be a player.

SDK did a dumb Kolo kick off one step - why don't the coaches address this?

Rohan was good in the middle when he went there.

But we lost through dumb football going forward - i keep saying it. Neither the Lions last week or Freo today kicked big scores.

Frankly it is pitiful watching us play this year - the tall defender (Pearce?) had a picnic as did Andrews last week.

Agree , Jackson was very good compared to Stanley

Tomorrow's VFL will answer a few questions

If Ratugolea lines up in defence, then it means either Jack plays alongside Ollie up forward, or we're going to try playing a guy up forward who hasn't played that role for over 12 months - but not sure Jack really is a Hawkins replacement and seems more similar to a Cameron style forward

If Neale kicks 5 goals in the first half, surely he gets the nod

Otherwise, debut Conway and play Stanley up forward

Sav wont play forward that ship has sailed. He will play back and j henry will go forward unless we go smaller (ie swap out hawk for menegola or dempsey or a similar sized player).

I’m going to shoot down our normal super hero.

Got me shocked that Stewart is getting wraps about his game.
It was terrible, he was exposed and the occasion got to him.
When he went to the midfield to give them a blast, the midfield should’ve told him to sort out his backline.

25 disposals for 11 turn overs, not to mention the amount of direct goals his opponent kicked.

Considering 22 of his 25 disposals were uncontested that’s a putrid game
Amen Calder... 100% spot on..
Was talking to a mate of me and we said the exact same thing

Good question. My thoughts are they just aren’t good enough.. it was in fairness a weakness also in 2022 but we tended to still do enough to more often than not break even and get our game going. The loss of guthrie and selwood out of there and the decline of danger is just too much for us to compensate.

We literally don’t have a single player capable of 30+ touch matches anymore, and we seem to be relying on 2x20yo midfielders to compete against seasoned prime A graders from other sides like serong/brayshaw degoey/daicos/mitchel rozzee/butters dunkley/neale….

I like the look of both holmes and bruhn… but they are another two years away from being able to play as A grade mids.

In terms of midfields… I can’t think of many who have a worse brigade than ours in all honesty.
Kind of agree. Cant blame the coaches for this. The talent just isnt there. Bruhn has potential but he aint there yet. Holmes looks like a gun winger to me but not a centre clearance player. dangers too old. Atkins and blicavs have gotton the best out of their talent but arent great centre mids. They are servicable as mids. Atkins probably should be a flanker who rotates through the mids. Not part of the A mid team. Boy do we need clark to be a future gun.

“If results go certain way etc we could finish as low as 15th.
Honestly if Hawkins and Blitz are out for the rest of the year, perhaps it's a good thing.

Perhaps we should look at getting into the discussion for Harley Reid.. Pick 4 & Future First or similar for Pick 1 this year..”

“No no no. We've never finished lower than 12th and we aren't tankers”
SNAP! 😻

Aren’t their penises for tanking? Huge ones?

You’re not suggesting we lose for better picks, are you? You’re saying “IF results go a certain way etc”? Right?
‘Etc’ 😏😏😏
Cue Monty Python’s:
“Eh? know what I mean? Know what I mean? Nudge, nudge! Know what I mean? Say no more! A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat, say no more, say no more!”

Seriously though, IF we’re a chance to play Finals, I reckon the PTB will continue with out of form players, as a steadying presence for Kittens. Only time we missed Finals was 2014 (???) + Club honour ensures we go for it.

Nevertheless, while it’s distressing to miss Finals, I’m on the ‘Get Games into the Kittens’ bandwagon.

Think Rohan is worth a go tossing in there?? I didn’t mind some of the work he did around congestion today. Broke the lines a couple of times

It’s a good observation- we don’t lose by much. Just shows how good we really were a year ago- even playing as poorly as we have been, and having no effective midfield, we are still in most contests this year.

One positive I took away from today was bruhn is one little nugget of an inside mid… a couple of contests he went in like a bull and really took on serong and brayshaw. I really liked what I saw him dish up. When the heat goes up he is happy to lace his boots up and dive in.

Still very young and realistically two years away from being A grade. But he will get there
