Resting Bowes was utterly stupid and totally arrogant

Made my view very clear on Parfitt over the years , thats why i was dissappointed neither Mannagh or Hardie were picked - hard to know if there is more upside in those 2 players because he wont pick them

And for any supporter who doesnt know , Dangerfield has carried Geelong for years , only need to go back to the flag winning year of 22 , opening game of the season , Ess at the MCG , the 1st qtr and a bit playing in the Centre , he by himself destroyed Ess , ripped them to pieces , take him out of the side and Geel are no where near as good

Cats keep clocking up the losses , some posters might have a change of tune re some players talent and ability levels
Anyone with any brains knows the importance of Danger to GFC.

How good was Mullins, though? Lucky they picked him!

A number of our mids are on shaky ground. Hardie and Mannagh do deserve a game. Another loss or two and they can’t ignore them.

Excuse the interruption. Read the Nathan Murphy thread on Pies board for expert advice on concussion. 🙁

PS - a few posts here re tonight's game are between tolerant and humorous 👍
Honestly, I would be surprised by nothing at this point.

Geelong squeaky clean and doing everything right? Sure. Cool

Getting systematically destroying lives to win games? Wouldn't even question it.

I have no idea and I doubt the doctors do either

Note: thanks for the input and apologise if my tone is rude. I'm just drunk and angry at things unrelated to your point.

I dunno. The man bun was unique anyway. right now he kinds looks like if Hollywood were making a movie about AFL and cast 1980s Johnny Depp as Brad Close. He was pretty damn good tonight though!
Haha yep- but I still prefer this to the bun. He played well. Getting confident too- liked that he had a quick shot for goal even if it missed.

I’m not sure that Conway “isn’t ready”. He’s not ready to play a whole game in the middle but he can probably play 60%. Play Blicavs the other 40. Or you could bring Neale in as well and he could take the forward 50 stoppages to relieve part of the load.

I’d bring Mannagh in for Duncan. Bruhn and Bowes straight back in. Think Clark probably needs a run in the VFL - Hardie finally gets his opportunity.

60% of a Conway game is 200% of a Stanley game (on average).

Definitely missed some of the youthful energy tonight.

Someone speaking some sense! Absolutely agree to all of the above.
If they don't make those changes they are pulling our collective leg.

The problem is duncan only started looking ok when the speed when out of the game and everyone was fatigued. When the game was quick early he looked like he was 50. I agree on his chains but you cant carry his lack of speed.

To answer your question maybe we need to play cuthrie back there because hes not working in the midfield. Or maybe we teach it to mullin with his speed.
Guthrie needs to be in the 2s
I heard it loud and clear on the radio!!!
Heard it Fox

Managing Bowes for tonight an absurd call reminiscent of the worst match committee calls under Scott's tenure. I'm talking "Chapman as sub in the 2013 Qualifying Final" tier inexplicable stupidity.

I agree it was a super stupid move considering Bruhn's injury, but NOTHING will surpass the "Chapman as sub in the 2013 Qualifying Final" (not even the 2019 PF "might rain, better play without a ruck" call).

What is 2024 minus 2022 mate? That equals 2....2 years like i said.
He was done and very obviously done in 2023...my oppo supporter mates are baffled he still gets a game.

I can't keep standing up for the guy. He doesn't do enough to hold a spot and we are actively losing games now out of the middle.

Conway will build his tank, but in the mean time there's plenty of young ruck options at other clubs not getting a gig that could fill the transition
I call that a season and nine games but all good. We agree otherwise.

Only one way to find out. But Hawkins unfortunately is done. It’s obvious. Not sure Neale is the long term solution but he should be given a sustained opportunity from now.
Of course.

But I think we can't say this is like when he did this to Mooney to Hawkins benefit.

Hawkins between 2007-09 had shown more than enough glimpses to see that the potential was there. We haven't even got to that stage yet with Shannon and that's the worry for mine. He'd be making the hard call with less to go on, and retiring a far better player than Cam Mooney. Would be a very very ballsy call to make.

Also, we're 7-2 and have lost games by a collective few kicks.

Plenty of teams would kill to have had the start we have.
We nearly won both games too so it’s hardly a devastating losses ..frustrating yes but not devastating

You can’t win them all especially the close ones

Our rebounding defenders were horrible in the first half. Zuthrie, Stewart, J.Henry, Duncan, Holmes all played too far ahead of the ball and made horrible skill errors and Port killed us on the rebound.
Tightened up after half-time, but in the 1st half they were as bad as our midfielders.
I also feel like we ran back too deep and allowed them to use space at half forward for short chips. Undoes our whole intercept structure and we need to rebuild around a Humphries led future
