Surprised to see Xerri listed as among North's best?

I was at the game and I thought Stanley absolutely thrashed him in the ruck at the centre bounces. I guess he must have done a lot of around the ground stuff, but I barely noticed him.

More hit outs, more marks, more disposals, more score involvements.

It seams to be a given here that Mullin has this great pace and maybe he does but I'm yet to see him breaking the lines like Holmes or running down player like Rohan he seams very stagnant to me so far.
That comes down to reading and understanding game state though. As quick as Rohan and Holmes are, they both also know when to get on their bike.

If I were Scott I'd be encouraging Mullin to get on that bike and not worry if he falls off occasionally but lets see that pace, play to your strengths.

Gotta have Cameron, other possible changes don't matter much.

True.
Sounds like we will have cameron.

I thought it was interesting in the presser that scott half left the door open for us not to play all 4 kpds-because previously hes been very bullish about them all fitting in.

Cameron and Smith will be straight back in. Kolo likely too.

Loving Scott in the post game pressers recently. Journo asks him whether there was much talk about being still in finals contention around this game.
Scott (with wtf expression on face): "Still in..??? Do I need to talk about that? Hope not. No. I mean seriously.. We are very confident that if we play our best footy.. we're the danger.". Turns to Reg as if to say, seriously this is how the media rates our side this year - making up the numbers...
I know there are plenty on here who think we're not the side we were last year, but listening to anyone within the club and there is just an incredible confidence that we can, not just "give it shake", but simply get it done when it matters.

Midfield was dominant, which was a worry going in as North's best players are there mids. Defence held up very well and I liked the SDK / Ratagolea combo more than when Kolo is involved. Bowes game was also very good and id like to see him settle on a back flank. I think Mullin may go past Bews in a hurry but probably wont get the games required to do so. Small and medium forwards were fantastic as they had to do it all without a key tall in the front half. Hawkins for me now plays as a small foward because he wont ever jump in a marking contest and when we kick down the line the contesting is left to O Henry or Rohan while Hawkins has feet planted on the ground watching his opponent fly for the mark. This particular aspect of the game is a big concern for coming weeks. I'd love to see the intercept mark stats in our forward line and more specifically uncontested intercept marks. I've had a mate attend the last 2 games at GMHBA and asked him to count how many times Hawkins feet leave the ground in a pack marking situation and so far he is on zero. He just doesn't do it, which isn't the end of the world if we have another key forward who does, but we don't.

Yes agree, he did seem to lose sight of the ball on occasion which made him seem a bit slow to rebound. If he's one footed it takes him a while to get up to speed again, just body awareness and lack of experience. It's not easy being fast tracked from a completely different game, so many adjustments.
Despite that, I'm a huge rap for him and so must they be, amazing story.

Lucky Mullin didn’t make a blue like Mitch Duncan some on here would have on way back to Ireland. No expert but looks to me he is playing safe to avoid the big error.

Disposals aren’t single figures anddidnt concede a goal to his direct opponent. Run & Carry will come with confidence. A few posters made up their mind he wouldn’t play this year and aren’t for changing. Probably not best 22 with everyone available but not a bad start for me.

Next week with Cameron back Hawkins won't leave the f50, and rightfully so. His game isn't crashing packs, its marking on the lead. Let Ollie and Rohan and Cameron wander up the field, leave Hawkins deep.
Don't know why its a concern now when it hasn't been the last 10 years.

He did though? Hospital handballs and shanked kicks and everyone on here is saying the same thing, get him back in the VFL because he needs game time and he can get more minutes in the midfield in the ressies.

If you think back though, he didn't fly at at all in last years GF, but his positioning was everything and strength out of the ball ups.
I'll have him as long as he keeps his eye for goal, his vice like tackle, roughs them up, he's so unbreakable.

Bit of a ten overs none for forty type game, but solid enough and we do boost the percentage from a suddenly surging Richmond and Carlton who are four points behind us. Bruhn is really looking to be a find, he's playing better each week. And Bowes just seems to be a better player when he starts, he always seems to like to 'work into' the game so as a sub it's not really to his style, he struggles to make instant impact. But he was good in our winning sequence earlier in the year and holds his own in the midfield now.

Too much short passing and perhaps overly looking to get goals assists in the 2nd when we were dominating, and then the Roos found their mark in the second half with several long accurate kicks for goal...i mean Perez's 1st goal of his career from 55 almost clearing the fence!!?? Where's that been norf? And for a first gamer son of Boomer looks like another one who might be like Nick Davis in the future, a son who continues the torment that his father usually did...cat fans with long memories might recall Craig Davis Sr in the '80-'81 era for the Pies.

Absolute must win game next week against the Bombers, and for heaven's sake somebody watch out for the man who plays like Superman against us and Clark Kent against anything else....I'll pull what little is left of my hair out again if Wiedeman dominates like he's done both for the Dees and the Bombers against us again!

I was at the game, and I noticed Hawkins does a lot of the unheralded 'dirty work' like muscling/wrestling opponents and clearing space for other forwards.

Quite a few goals to Henry, Stengle etc were set up by Hawk bustling all the North defenders out of the way.

If Blitz wasn't as tall as he is it would've taken him nearly 5 years to get up to scratch. Mullin is starting from further back and his position doesnt forgive errors very easily.

It will take him time, that's ok. The issue is how often are we going to gift him games on potential while others are arguably playing better in the VFL.
Others may be playing better but I sense it’s more of a positional thing. He is the perfect replacement when a bews type is out.

Cats rout North

That title is hilariously bizarre. In this instance the term 'rout' is best described as "to force out as if by digging".
What a terrible game.
Oh, Mullin was exceptional! Seriously, Geelong has to beat at least 6 teams currently in the 8 after Nth to make a reasonable position on the ladder for the finals, so they pick Mullin to Gel with the group. He has no idea at present and won't for the remaining season.
Ratugolea is already playing for Port.
Dangerfield still injured.
Hawkins has only one job now, and that's to teach everything that he can possibly articulate to Ollie Henry. It's like watching an Elephant travelling towards it's grave.
"The elephant" remains 4th in the league for goals, goal assists and score involvements in a team that has rarely fired.
