The a Saints literally played 3 hrs before us.
They came into today off their bye though did they not? Not a 4 day break like us.

Agree it’s near on even for both teams on Thursday after games today but the cumulative impact of consecutive short turnarounds towards the end of the season looks to be catching up on us.

Hard to do as so much depends on unknown like who's available and who's sore

Reckon Gov won't get up, so Edwards get another crack. Hickey out for NN. Allen had two quiet ones in a row, and I reckon Williams offers more as a backup ruck. Hutch is cooked, Cameron or Petch in as a small fwd, Ainsworth can play the tagging role as he did a number on Daniel in the 2nd half. Shep looks like he needs a rest, Hurn can come back.

Out: Gov, Hickey, Allen, Hutch, Shep
In: Edwards, NN, Williams, Petch, Hurn

As far as I am concerned, after letting Caleb Daniel, the bulldogs best ball user, amass 19 possessions in the first half before belatedly clamping down long after the damage was done, Simpson can give himself the week off
This, times 1000.
Come on Simmo. You knew about DANIEL. smh

Waiting for Simmo to tag Butler at 3QT.

OUT: Ah Chee, Hickey, Hutchings, McGovern... maybe Shep (managed - poor guy is a champ and looks sore)

IN: Williams, Nic Nat, Cameron, Brander, Edwards(?)/Brayshaw (?)

We need to nullify Butler, Steele, Jones, King - then maybe we’re a chance. (Especially the first two). If Nic Nat out, no hope. Hickey/Williams/Allen cannot take Marshall/Ryder

Let’s hope JK & JD are ON against Saints.

Barrass to nullify King, Ainsworth to nullify Butler, Shep - if in, to Membrey...

Saints have a few dangerous people. Need to be wary of Steele, Marshall, Butler, Hind (who’s fast and was rested today, so will be fresh), Kent, Clarke, Jones... + The obvious ones: King, Billings, Membrey

Jack Steele will probably go to Gaff.

Out: Hickey, Hutchings, Ah Chee, Gov*
In: Naitanui, Brayshaw, Petrucelle, Schofield*

* If Gov is injured I would prefer Schoey over big H. We need to win this game. Hurn also a chance to return. If so should be for Rotham for that silly brain fade block in the last.

Butler's way too quick for Ainsworth. Needs to be Cole I think.

Jetta went back with Duggan going mid and Ainsworth forward in the second half and I feel like Jetta’s kicking is too much of a weapon to not have taking kick outs.

Out: Hickey (omitted), Hutchings (injured), Ainsworth (omitted), Shep (rested)
In: NN, Brayshaw, Cameron, Hurn

Hurn Barrass Rotham
Jetta McGovern Nelson
Duggan Kelly Gaff
Ah Chee Darling Ryan
Cameron Kennedy Waterman

Naitanui, Sheed, Redden

Allen, Cole, O'Neill, Brayshaw

Good call on resting Shep. He is a key player if we are any chance to go deep into finals and medium defenders are our area of depth. He has definitely looked out of sorts the past 2 games so a rest now to freshen up is a good idea.
A wet game after 4 consecutive 5 day or less breaks missing the players we are, I dont think we will get it done against the Saints.
Best to rest who needs to be rested now, beat North and get a home Elimination final, get some key players back and have a crack.

Guess number two.

Out: Hutchings (injured), McGovern (injured), Ah Chee (rested), Hickey, Allen, O’Neill
In: Hurn, Edwards, Naitanui, Williams, Cameron, Brayshaw

B: Hurn, Barrass, Sheppard
HB: Cole, Edwards, Nelson
C: Gaff, Sheed, Duggan
HF: Waterman, Darling, Ainsworth
F: Ryan, Kennedy, Cameron
R: Naitanui, Kelly, Redden
I: Williams, Rotham, Jetta, Brayshaw
E: Allen, O’Neill, Brander, Reid

Just the lazy six changes. And none of them are Ainsworth out, what a world we live in.

Naitanui and Williams back in to combat Ryder and Marshall. Allen has struggled for impact the last couple of weeks, Hickey did his job by spelling NicNat for a game.

Edwards in for Gov, don’t risk him ahead of finals. Can’t really go in small in defence against the Saints who have King, Membrey, Battle and a resting ruck.

Hurn back in shuffles things around a bit - Duggan up to a wing (splitting that rule with Cole and/or Nelson), Ainsworth to play as a high half forward in place of Hutchings.

Good chance to debut Brayshaw in a wet game, he’s a wet weather specialist. I like the look of O’Neill but he could use a break having played every game in this frenzy.

Ah Chee also gets a break because he could probably use one too, and I want to get Cameron into the side before the finals. I had Jetta out before but that was just crazy talk, he had 15 disposals at 86%, four tackles and led the team in metres gained, you can’t drop that. Plus he can swing back into defence if required.

Playing Williams (third game), Brayshaw (debut), Edwards (virtually a debut), Cameron, Rotham and Ainsworth is probably dangerous, but here we are.

Reading the Saints board, they are lamenting the need for more midfield fire power. Haven’t watched them all year tbh so have no idea what we face, but if that is the concern with their team, Nic in might be the difference?

We are seriously lacking midfield depth with injuries to Gresham, Hannebery and Dunstan.

Our dual rucks seem to work well against the lesser rucks but have been beaten by quality rucks on a few occasions.

We also struggle against sides with quality intercept defenders as our game plan relies on long deep kicks into 50 so McGovern out would be a huge bonus for us, as it would for any side I guess.

Considering our i50 zone is really struggling, if you keep the ball low, I'd say we'll have a tough time. If you keep your eyes low, like Richmond did, we'll have a tough time. It'll be a tight match.

I keep hearing Steele is in AA contention. Is he still tagging or is he just going and getting his own ball now?
