After swinging the axe last week, Ken Hinkley might have an easier time at the selection table ahead of facing the resurgent Western Bulldogs after the stirring victory over Sydney. Mitch Georgiades kicked three goals in the SANFL, although the AFL forward line functioned well, while Riley Bonner and Orazio Fantasia could also come back into the frame to face the Dogs. With no fresh injuries from the weekend, it's hard to see too many changes though. – Michael Whiting

R4 sub: Darcy Byrne-Jones (replaced Junior Rioli)

DBJ had something like 4 score involvements in 15 minutes - nearly kicked a goal as well (touched on the line). Playing him as a half forward could work, and he may even be able to do a defensive job on someone like Caleb Daniel. Would do a better job of it than Lachie Jones certainly did!

Swapping DBJ and Lachie Jones (who's been playing fwd lately) might solve a lot of issues at both ends to be honest.
DBJ is the least defensive player we've had on our list since Daniel Stewart - he made Lachie Murphy look like an AA small forward in the showdown FFS.

If it is going to be wet then Georiades isn't the best option.

BOM is predicting a 90% chance of rain with 5-25mm possible across the metro area.
We always go to clever by half in wet weather.

Drop a tall bloke every chance we get and then get monster's by big bodies.

So expect us to drop Lycett even though his bollocking work would actually be best suited to this weather and have Finlayson get absolutely smashed in the middle.

McEntee out.
Burton in.
DBJ stays as sub.
Houston moves to half forward, rotating with stints in the middle.

Never meddle too much with a winning combo - it may disrupt the connectedness and vibe of this potential flag winning group/coach.

He's an AA defender. He struggles with aerial battles though, but that's not a concern for Caleb Daniel.

He's good at ground level ball winning, tackling and pressure. Exactly what's needed when playing a defensive fwd role on Daniel

Lycett stays in for my liking based solely on his physical size around the contest in the expected conditions.

Would only drop Farrell, who I though was Sydneys main avenue to goal, and bring back Burton.

Lycett smashed Footscray in the prelim a few years ago so he gets the nod from me.

That is what you call a “not joke”

Lycett stays in because we are a greater chance of losing during a round where we will have undivided national attention

Scott Lycett was awful in the first three games but he didn't have a bad game against Sydney. True, he didn't win the most hit outs last week but he was pretty competitive so I can see why he was retained. Hopefully he can continue the upswing in form.
